Location convenient and not too touristy
My family (wife, me, two teenagers) stayed here in the fall of 2023.
The apartment was exactly as described. The unit has 3 bedrooms, each with a bed that sleeps 2. There is a washing machine and cooking supplies.
The host was out of town when we arrived, but he contacted me ahead of time to find out when I'd be arriving so he could have someone else meet us and check us in, and that person was waiting for us when we arrived from the Metro. Checkout was easy too, we just had to leave the place tidy, make sure the windows were shut, and leave the keys inside.
Chamberí was a really nice location because it has the feel of being its own neighborhood with its own character. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the neighborhood at all levels of price and quality. Also plenty of grocery stores, pharmacies, shops, and anything else you might want or need. The apartment is also less than half a mile from 4 different Metro stations, meaning you can get anywhere on the network, including the RENFE stations, with no more than one Metro change. And some of the Madrid sights are walkable.
Admittedly, the apartment is noisy most nights particularly when the nearby bar is open and with the apartment on the first (Americans would call it second) floor. But nothing a pair of earplugs didn't solve. The back bedroom (with an en suite bathroom) is quieter since it is not street-facing.
Overall, we enjoyed the property.
