About Stephen & Marilyn Zipsie

My wife Marilyn and I were born and raised in Southern Wisconsin. We have lived in the area all our lives and know that there are many special places in this world but there is no place like home! Our daughter and her husband live nearby and we are able to see our grandchildren on a daily basis. It is a great place for a family and we chose to make it our home.

Stephen & Marilyn Zipsie purchased this house in 2015

Why Stephen & Marilyn Zipsie chose Blanchardville

My wife and I purchased this home last year because it was at the end of our dead end road right next our home and included land adjacent to our land. We retired recently and thought that it would be a good place for friends and family to stay while visiting the area. When not use by our guests, it is available to the family.

What makes this house unique

We love this part of Wisconsin because it is in a physically beautiful area with trout streams, cliffs and deep valleys. We can watch the deer in the yard every morning and hear the sounds of sand hill cranes and turkeys by day or watch a bald eagle circling overhead and hear coyotes by night. At night the sky is full of stars that most will never see. With all the hustle and bustle and chaos in the world these days, we know that we can step outside and hear the sound of the wind in the trees and leave everything behind us and just enjoy life with our children and grand children.

perfect little getaway

  • 5 of 5

The number one thing I want on a weekend getaway is for it to be easy. From the reservation, to the greeting, to the walk thru and through out our stay, Stephen was an amazing host. The place was clean and well stocked, spacious and inviting, and check out was a breeze. We are already looking at another visit when the weather warms up !

An amazing WINTER getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a great cabin for a mid winter retreat! The air temp outside was 2 degrees but we were warm and cozy inside of this amazing cabin. The kitchen and dining room were a perfect setting for cooking, eating and conversing. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean with great privacy. I highly recommend this cabin.

On a side note, the owners are just amazing. They were very warm, welcoming, flexible and communicated perfectly.

Lovely respite in the Driftless area

  • 5 of 5

Six women, individual beds, four baths--what could be better? Actually, there was more: Your house is so clean, spacious, and well-stocked with bedding, linens, and utensils. The location is peaceful and beautiful. At night the Milky Way glowed, and in the morning, the sun set afire the tops of the cornfield across the lane. We thoroughly enjoyed preparing and eating meals together and card games around the poker table in the loft. You are wonderful hosts, and many thanks for this wonderful retreat.

Fun trip in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue! We stayed at this house last November for a "glamping trip." We wanted to be outdoors without having to sleep outdoors, and this house was perfect for that. The property is secluded and private - you really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The home itself is beautiful, too - the inside looks like a log cabin. There were 8 of us and we had more than enough space. One morning we took our coffee and walked along a trail behind the house, now that's how I want to start every day. We also visited the New Glarus Brewery while we were there, it was about a 25 minute drive and worth a stop.
