About the owners:

As native Coloradans, we love the outdoors, the spectacular seasons, and the diversity of nature.

Our adventurous spirits lead us to purchase our cozy log cabin in 2015. This is a place to get away and unplug from the noise of the city, recharge and be rejuvenated by the awesome surroundings. (It is only a 95 minute drive from southwest Denver on 285. We avoid the crazy I-70 traffic and congestion.)

Through our front window, we have the spectacular view of Mt. Sherman, which is a 14"er". Enjoying a cup of coffee from our welcoming and relaxing porch and watching the sunrise burst above Mt. Sherman is a wonderful way to greet the day.

This beautiful area and our cozy log cabin are just too special not to share. The fellowship of family and friends is what has inspired us to open our home and hearth. The memories that will be made here will last a lifetime. We hope all who stay here feel the welcome embrace of friendship and hospitality.

Why the owners Chose Fairplay:

Mountains; Outdoor Activities Galore; Proximity to Breckenridge; Small Town Friendly Attitude

The small towns of Fairplay and Alma harken back to the simpler days of living. We enjoy talking to the friendly locals and playing pool at the South Park Saloon.

A Dream in Colorado

  • 5 of 5

Christmas in Colorado was a dream come true. Unlike most places which leave you a little disappointed the Whimsical Hollow overdelivered!

The cabin was covered in snow and Christmas decorations and the kitchen and Keurig were fully stocked. The kids enjoyed sledding and building a snow fort. Hubby and I enjoyed sitting by a roaring fire and enjoying the amazing view when we woke up.

Like clockwork the drive was plowed (even over Christmas).

This was the most magical place and that's not even mentioning the wonderful people of Colorado.

We booked the Whimsical Hollow because of its cozy and secluded location. The wife and I were looking for some together time and we found the Whimsical Hollow to be perfect.

The Cabin was very clean and decorated perfectly for the Christmas season.

Wonderful mountain getaway with all the ammenities

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is set in the mountain with all of the beautiful Co views you could want. Tall pines surround you and a gorgeouse mountain view right off front porch. My family and I had a wonderful stay here. Perfectly stocked kitchen for cooking and a fantastic outside grill picnic area and firepit. The cabin also had a beautiful and comfortable interior. The beds and couches were so comfy. Truly a home away from home!

Upon opening the front door, my husband and I were completely blown away by the amazing floor to ceiling wood burning stone fireplace in the living room. Wow. The cozy cabin was beautifully furnished and immaculate. There were two master bedrooms and we chose the upstairs master loft. Watching the snow fall outside from the comfort of our loft - king size bed was fabulous. Also, the view out the front windows was not too shabby either. There is a perfect view of a 14'er outside the windows. We were completely satisfied with all the amenities it offered. We loved the Keurig coffee every morning. We will definitely come back to this cabin. It was a perfect stress-free weekend. Thank you to the owners. We definitely felt your hospitality and welcoming spirit.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the nice review. I hope you can come back this summer. It is absolutely amazing June through September. It never gets over 75 degrees and you will actually need a jacket at night. You would love it. There is a lot to do in the area in the summer. It is close to hiking, climbing, ATVing, horseback riding, white-water rafting, shopping, and even ghost towns. Thanks again. Hope to see you soon.

Fairplay is considered the "Base Camp" of the central Rockies. There is just about any outdoor activity you can think of within minutes of the home. Fairplay is an old mining town and right in the center of town there is a restored mining/ghost town called South Park. There are old buildings, mines, school houses, assay offices, doctor offices, dentists, etc right out of the 1800's. You will want to take a day with the family to visit this unique restored town. You may even want to try your hand at panning for gold. The area is great for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ATVing, 4-wheel drive exploring, skiing, hunting, fishing, and much much more. Just give us a call and we will tell you how or where to go for most any activity.
