About Marilyn Ferrell
Asheville has been our home for 36 years. Rick first came here to work after graduating from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where he fell in love with the mountains. I joined him a few years later when I fell in love with him and the mountains. Early in our marriage, we spent weekends driving on the BR Parkway, hiking, and having picnics at various overlooks. When we found this home, we realized there was no better view anywhere and being only 5 minutes from downtown, the location was perfect. I grew up in the country and this home reminds me of my childhood home. It feels like a world away from civilization tucked away at the top of the mountain surrounded by beautiful nature and peace and quiet. Asheville is also known as Paris of the South. I taught French for over 30 years and we have traveled extensively throughout France. We both share a love for Europe, France especially – Paris, of course, but also Provence, the Riviera, and all the wine regions (Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy). We love the Biltmore House, the eclectic city-life of Asheville, hiking, and staying active, fit, and healthy. Since we spend a lot of time at the coast and traveling, we have decided to let others enjoy our home while we are away. We love our quiet little neighborhood and hope that our guests will find this hidden gem as mesmerizing and addictive as we have and that they will want to return.
Marilyn Ferrell purchased this House in 1986
Why Marilyn Ferrell chose Asheville
We chose this home because of its location (close to town, top of the mountain, facing due south, 3000 ft elevation, private, secluded and in a natural setting). It was a perfect blend of our desire to live in the country yet to be only 3 miles from the city. The first time we saw the property at dusk and watched the view change from beautiful mountains to a sea of lights, we were in love with it.
What makes this House unique
The house is a mid-century home which was originally built as a summer home that we turned into a permanent home 30 years ago. The house is unique with large diamond-shaped windows, wood ceiling with beams, hickory floors, rock fireplace with gas logs, large decks, and a cool, covered front porch. The view is a part of every room.

Sky High Experience!
A spectacular week spent in an idyllic setting with an unbeatable view!
Our host Marilyn was extremely welcoming and obviously committed to ensuring we enjoyed our stay. She was readily available and responded quickly to any questions. In addition to its magnificent location her home was beautiful, impeccably clean and generously stocked with all the supplies we might require. We loved the privacy surrounded by the sounds of birds, tree frogs and the many options for relaxing and enjoying the glorious view from both inside and outside. We would love to return! Thank you.

Fantastic and relaxing!
This cabin is beautiful with a stunning view. My husband and I came to Asheville for our 1 year wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. Marilyn and Rick are fantastic hosts. They sent us a list of restaurants which was very helpful in deciding on a place to eat. This is a place I would love to visit again.
Amazing, Beautiful and Relaxing
This is definitely one of the nicest, relaxing places we have ever had the chance to stay. The view itself is just stunning (and we had mostly rainy weather). The house is very cozy and welcoming. There is a nice large family room area with a nice gas fireplace and a big television. They have rearranged the furniture to make it better than the pictures. The dining room is surrounding on all sides by views. Two decks are great to be out and relax (when it wasn't raining, but even then we sat out there a bit). The bedroom is a big size with plenty of storage and a nice TV as well. The shower is great, two sinks and nice big shower and ohhhhh those heated floors are nice!
The house has everything you could possibly need. There are lots of spices, oil, some minor food stuffs (oil, butter, etc). Couldn't ask for more.
Marilyn herself was a dream to work with. Also, downtown Asheville was a quick 8 minute drive away. We used Uber and Lyft (no need to worry about parking) and it worked out great.
Go ahead and treat yourself to a vacation here!
Heaven on Earth
The cabin and interior was just as beautiful as the pictures. The view from the deck was stunning and my husband and I could not stopping looking at the mountains and breath the fresh crisp air. The inside of the cabin had everything you you could possibly need of think of. Everything was so clean and comfortable. We felt at home immediately and hated to have to leave. I would highly recommend renting this cabin. The owners, Marilyn and her husband were so hospitable and checked to make sure we were okay. They offered us many suggestions as: places to eat, show, visit, etc... What down to earth people. All I can say if that I truly can't wait to return. possibly in the Spring. Skye Heaven was heaven on earth.
Lovely home with fabulous view!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Skyview in Asheville. The home was even better than we expected... so lovely, peaceful & comfortable, and phenomenal view of the mountains. We stayed 4 nights, but wish we had stayed longer.
This trip was for our 26th wedding Anniversary and my 60th Birthday celebration, so we wanted to plan something special.
Upon arrival we were happy to find a bottle of robust red wine (our fav) and fresh flowers.
During our stay we toured the Biltmore Estate, and learned a lot about the history by taking Legacy of the Land Tour at Biltmore - anyone interested in Forestry will love that tour! We also did some of the other touristy stuff in Asheville, but our favorite thing was hanging out at Skyview and sipping wine while enjoying the fabulous view.
Perfect location for our 25th anniversary. Amazing views!
Really enjoyed our experiences in Asheville and always looked forward to returning to this house for relaxation and a stunning view of the mountains. Living areas were well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The house has a relaxing feel to it. The location was a nice drive up the mountainside and very close to downtown Asheville. Especially appreciated the support from the owners...Marilyn was always quick to respond and provided excellent advice on everything from site seeing to restaurants, which we definitely took advantage of. Highly recommend.
Our home is located half-way between downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway for scenic hikes and drives. Nature surrounds you while the benefits of the city are easily accessible and only a few minutes away. Visit the Biltmore House, tour some breweries, shop, hike, or just escape from a hectic life and just enjoy the beauty of the mountains.
