Comfortably sleeping 12 in 5 bedrooms, Lagmore House has uninterrupted views of Orsay and Mackenzie islands, as well Rhinns Lighthouse. With 2 spacious lounges and a games rooms, there is plenty of space for family gatherings.The large, well stocked kitchen has everything needed to complete one's holiday and the south facing conservatory boasts some of the best views on Islay. The conservation village of Portnahaven, the home is a short walk away from the friendly village pub and is easily accessible to public transportation. Portnahaven, recently named one of twenty most picturesque Scottish villages, has a year long population of friendly harbor and gray seals that can be easily spotted from the spacious front garden as well as beautiful coastal paths and beaches. So pour yourself a dram of Islay's finest whisky, sit down in front the roaring wood stove fire, and enjoy the best holiday rental Islay has to offer.

Lagmore House

Lagmore House is a large property with a well appointed kitchen, lounge-dining room. However we did have some issues with the house. The second bedroom upstairs had damp on the walls and ceiling plus peeling wallpaper. The conservatory had lost a full length pane of glass which had been repaired by nailing on a piece of hardboard. There was an extremely large dark mark on the dining room ceiling which we we were told had been caused by bad weather last winter - the issue causing the damp had been resolved but the unsightly stains remained. The bed in the downstairs bedroom was extremely creaky. The house was certainly less than perfect and we would have appreciated a heads up that these issues existed before travelling . The management agent was good and the house was cleaned to a very high standard. However our feelings are that the house didn’t fully match the description and photographs - it is definitely in need of some repairs and redecoration - particularly at the price charged. That said Islay is a lovely destination and we did have an enjoyable holiday.

Thank you for your review. We were happy to hear you felt the house was cleaned to a very high standard and that you enjoyed your holiday. The two issues you noted are being addressed next month after our busy season ends as we've been fully booked since the reopening of the tourism industry. The touch-up painting to the two spots and the repair to the one conservatory window will take place then. Lagmore House, as you noted, is a very large, ocean-front home.

We've strived to create a warm, welcoming, holiday let where you can make lasting holiday memories.

While very spacious, the Lagmore House has a very cosy and friendly feel. It's size, amazing location, proximity to the water, and unspoilt views make it a unique Islay holiday let.
