This is the perfect location to stay in London. It is just a short walk to restaurants, pubs, and the tube station. Longer strolls will take you to many other popular London attractions. The beds are really comfortable. I can't wait to come back.

Check in was easy & location is great. This once was a great place but it has not been maintained in some time. It is worn down & beat up.
Clean 2 bedroom terrace apartment close to train, cafes and pubs. Very handy to get around.Pretty quiet considering how close the trains are.Small improvements needed - light was flickering constantly in bathroom, drawer was missing from cabinet in 1 bedroom, shower head spray was very inconsistent. Also instruction folder would be nice for heating, stove, places to go, eat, see, in the area etc. These things are easily fixed and this place would get 5stars.
Host was extremely helpful and communicative! We loved the flat and would definitely come back. It has everything we needed and tiny convenience store around the corner as well as restaurants nearby. There was plenty of room for our whole family and great location.
The house is three minutes walk distance from the closest underground station “Southwark”, and many bus stops are located within 5 min walk. The place made us feel like at home, and the host was always helpfull.

The shower was barely a trickle. All cups, plates etc needed washing before being used. There were no teaspoons. When we got there (although we were allowed in early) there were clothes - including underwear hanging to dry with the towels for the apartment. It seemed generaly dirty round the edges.Broken furniture in lounge (chair) and bedroom (drawer missing)
Ruth was great to engage with, very helpful. Apartment very well located near shops and pubs, close to a tube station which made the trip really easy to enjoy.
Worth every penny to stay in this wonderful VRBO. We loved being in the heart of everything, bustling trains, parties on either side of us, with a rooftop view to allow us to be part! Our white noice apps were enough to allow us to sleep with the windows open. The icing on the cake was that we were just a ten minute walk to Borough Market! Inside, once you take Ruth's advice and open the windows, the house is prefectly breezy on a hot day. There are a lot of steps, so be warned, this isn't a handicap accessible home. We made use of the washer and dryer(!). Ruth was amazing to work with, we would happily return to this lovely home.
The flat was perfect for our family of four. It was centrally located and close to the tube. My youngest enjoyed the toys and games. We made good use of the washer and dryer and the rooftop access. And the WiFi was fast and easy to access.
One small thing to note is that you can hear the tube go by but we used a sound machine at night and it didn’t bother us.
This flat is in a vibrant location with great proximity to everything you could want for a stay in London, whether walking or using the tube/trains. You do need to be a little careful of the sets of stairs...steep.
The appartment is well located and could be really nice with a bit of maintenance.
We were disappointed by the shower that leaks, some broken furniture and the fact that heating system stops at night so we were really cold.
Otherwise, the view is nice, beds were good, and every kitchen equipment worked.

Yohann. The heating system does not stop at night. You have complete control over it via the thermostat. There may have been a malfunction but you did not message me about this. Also, this is the first I am hearing about a leaking shower. Always appreciate a message during the stay to allow us to rectify an issue or explain a misunderstanding. best wishes, Ruth
We (family of 4, 2 children 6 and 8) stayed here for 6 nights. We were 5 minutes from the Southwark tube station, and a 20 minute walk to the London Eye/Big Ben. There were several convenience stores in the area for items to keep in the rental. There were also various pubs and restaurants within a 3 minute walk and directly across the street as well.
The games and living room available here made an incredible difference over other rentals and hotels. Our kids went straight to the puzzles and it was the perfect place for down time in between stops around the city.
We had the best stay at this apartment in the Southwark area of London. It was not only a great space that allowed for our small family to spread out, but it also had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We also totally fell in love with the area. There were lots of great restaurants, pubs, and cafes all within walking distance. It was in an area where you could get away from the touristy sites, yet they were all just a super easy walk or tube ride away. We enjoyed our stay so much that we had hoped this apartment was available when we came back through London on our travels. Ruth was prompt and kind and wonderful to talk to and made the whole process super easy. We will definitely look forward to staying here again!
Close to several tube stations, taxis are abundant, and walking to Borough market, local groceries, and other local spots is reasonable. Standard walk up to first floor beds and second floor kitchen. fantastic value for money. Immediately responsive to how to get in, even when i already had instructions, washer and dryer were very helpful. overall a recommended location, especially for the price. pub next door, and restaurants all around. Even a few kids toys to keep younger ones busy for a few minutes. You'd have to be pretty particular to find flaws with this inexpensive accessible location.
We were in London for 3 days in early July. This property worked well for me, my husband and our 18 year old daughter. It's only 1 block from the Southwark underground station which is on the Jubilee line. Two stops and you're at Westminster Abbey. A short walk and your at Tower Bridge. The property was beautiful and bright - big windows and skylight. We sat on the rooftop deck and enjoyed a couple of beers every night after doing the 'tourist' thing. Great restaurants nearby. The property is near a train but i have to say that - in the bedrooms at least - it did not bother us at all. I'd stay here again on my next trip.

1) There was a great deal of cracked and flaking paint present that cast an air of dinginess upon entering the property which never let up.
2) The towels were of very poor quality and the shower offered insufficient water delivery.
3) The overall level of value was lacking. For measurably less money my friend and I could have each booked a room at the hotel around the corner and we each could have had a better room and better shower. (We stayed there a total of six nights prior to our stay here.)
4) Except for the excellent and desirable location, it would be difficult to recommend these accommodations to anyone I know traveling to London.

Unexceptable
The owner told us there would be parking across the street from the vrbo. The closest parking is 15 minutes away. The unit was not cleaned before our stay so there were used towels, sheets and dishes to wash before we could use them and there was garbage everywhere. Even if it had been cleaned the unit is fithy. Stains on the walls, carpeting and couch. Then while we were packing to leave the cleaner barged in an hour early and made herself a coffee, cigarette in hand and insisted on starting to clean. WE WEREN'T EVEN OUT THE DOOR YET, WE PAID FOR THAT TIME!

In poor condition and not worth the money
With apologies to Ruth, this place is kind of a dump. There are two large holes in the wall in the entryway. The walls are scuffed up. The carpet is dirty. The dresser in one of the bedrooms was missing the front of the drawer, which was stacked in the corner of the room (along with some rolled up rugs), while the fan in the other bedroom was missing the front grill. The grout has fallen out of much of the bathroom tiles bathroom tiles and there’s lime buildup around the kitchen sink in the shower plumbing. The sofa had black cat hair on it and one of the bedrooms smells like an animal has been living in it. My daughter is allergic to cats and had a serious reaction the first night so she had to take antihistamines for the rest of our stay. Some if the dishes were dirty. There were also no instructions at all, including how to light the burners on the stove since the igniter doesn’t work (we finally found some matches in a cabinet). Overall, the place is poorly maintained, smells like an animal lived there, and needs to be fixed up and cleaned well. Very disappointing.

We loved staying here. It was very cozy for my kiddos. Loved the grocery store which was a 3 min walk. We walked almost everywhere. Would stay here again!

About the host
Hosted by Ruth
We are a family wth 3 kids who now live in nearby Cambridge. This was our home for 10 years. We visit whenever we can to relive the days of our youth. Our kids love their second home in central London.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property for the roof terrace and it's bright and quirky style. We love being near the railway arches. It feels very urban which we love. If you are going to be in London you may as well be IN LONDON!
What makes this property unique
The location is the biggest advantage of this property. There is so much that you will want to see and do in London that is within walking distance. The immediate neighbourhood is very cool. Borough Market, Flatiron Square, Tate Modern, the South Bank. Gordon Ramsay's Union Cafe (interior is pictured) is directly across the street.
