Located in the heart of rural farmland above the ancient market town of Sedbergh, Gateside Farmhouse enjoys excellent views from all windows of the Howgill range. Sedbergh itself is two and a half miles away, an enjoyable walk and has an excellent selection of cafes and book shops, the town being the first ’book’ town in the UK.

Set on a very quiet working farm, Gateside Farmhouse has undergone a major renovation and now offers excellent, quality accommodation for up to 10. The rooms are light and spacious and, laid out on three floors, the property offers flexible living space for a large family gathering or a group of walkers or cyclists. A small welcome pack is provided by the owners, so you can look forward to a decent cuppa after a long journey. The property is on a national cycle route.

Thanks for a lovely stay, Gateside was perfect for our stay. Great for accessing the local fells too. Be careful to use the directions provided by the cottage owners and not sat-nav - there is a very narrow bridge on one approach that the official instructions avoid.

Excellent property that was spotless and very well equipped. There was easy access to the Western Dales and the Lake district. Super walk from the property and we had a thoroughly relaxing time. The road to the property is narrow and you need to pick your passing place if anything comes the other way, but this was few and far between. The owners were friendly and happy to chat about the workings of the farm and the surrounding area. I am sure we will be going back.

We had a fantastic time at the farmhouse! There were 4 adults and 5 children staying for the bank holiday weekend. There was plenty of room in the house for us all! A well equipped kitchen, a cupboard full of games and little extras like a welcome pack. We enjoyed the countryside location which enabled us to have quicker access to fabulous walks! The local pub in Sedbergh, served yummy meals. The farmhouse is highly recommended. We will definitely return.

Gateside Farmhouse is set in a beautiful rural location, off the beaten track and perfect for a relaxing break. The house itself has been tastefully done to a high spec and is well stocked to accommodate large groups. We stayed as a party of 9, 4 adults, 5 children and there was ample space. The owners are both welcoming and attentive. Cannot recommend enough. What a lovely stay we had.
