We greatly enjoyed our Maine stay in a beautifully serene location. Our hosts were wonderful. We would definitely stay another time when visiting the area.
It was our third time staying here; we will stay here for all future trips to Maine when we are fishing this area. The cabins are ideally suited to spending a week fishing with the launch just across the road and plenty of on-site parking. The owners are great, I can't say enough good things about these accommodations and the experience.
Such a beautiful peaceful spot. Owners were very kind. We definitely will be back with the family. My children learned how to kayak and canoe and they absolutely loved fishing. This will be some wonderful memories for the children and family for sure. Thank you for having us. Perfect little spot.
Our entire family had an excellent stay here in the Deerhaven cabin! A beautiful spot right on the side of the river. We enjoyed swimming in the river, relaxing evenings sitting around the fire in the fire pit, and long walks on the dirt road. John and Diane have a beautiful place here, and they’re wonderful hosts. I would highly recommend staying if you’re in the area or if you’re just looking for a fishing getaway or time away to relax, recharge and unwind.
We booked this as a family of 4. It had everything we needed. Our 14 year old caught sunfish and bass right off the deck. Our 9 year went swimming and loved it. The cabin is beautiful, clean, and simple. The kids have their own bedroom. It was perfect!
If you are looking for a location to just escape from daily life stresses, I would highly recommend this location. It is beautiful and peaceful! The owners are very wonderful people!
Merrill Brook Cabins was a great choice for my brothers and I to fish the Penopscot river. The cabin had everything we needed for the short times we were in the cabin. Fishing was awesome, river views were great, including the Bald Eagle watching our every move.
This is our second time staying here and it didn't disappoint. Small, comfortable cabin... but the outdoors is everything! So peaceful and beautiful. Would stay here again: ) Thanks for everything, Diane.
I booked this property to attend the graduation of my grandson in the local town. The little cabin was a perfect place to relax and hang out. A few small things could use an improvement, but I did see the owners working on the cabin next door. If you plan on cooking, and you should probably bring your own cookware.
This was a rustic little cabin - exactly what we expected. It was very clean, beds were comfortable. We went to ice fish and snowmobile. This was the perfect cabin for this type of trip. We also went with friends and they stayed in the cabin next door. The cabin is small, but it's a cabin so this is what we expected. We all had a great time. The hosts were very easy to get in touch with and reached out to tell us about events. They also called the night before arriving to make sure we were all set. Very nice small touches that make you feel welcome.
Cute little cabin in a charming, quiet location. Only issue for us during the entire stay, was the electricity was constantly tripping a circuit in one zone...even when very few items were in use/plugged in. So we had to keep flipping it to reset. The owners, when we asked about it, said we had too many things plugged in...yet it happened when next to nothing was plugged in, as we tried that scenario too. Old wiring perhaps?
Anyway, other than that slight inconvenience, owner seemed sweet, eager to please on other fronts, and it again was quiet and charming. Just what we needed for a quiet getaway.
Setting is beautiful. We loved the sunrise over the Penobscot River in the morning and the quiet grounds for walking our little dog. The decor, kitchenware & appliances , (wall clock) & tv were very dated and not working at all. Would’ve loved to have had a tea kettle. The towels & blankets were very thin and old, worn etc. bed sheets & pillows were fine. The scattered carpets were filthy, edge ripped & stained. in our opinions should’ve been replaced a while ago. The little electric space heater was adorable and efficient. The shower was good. This is an honest appraisal of what we experienced during our weekend visit. If the above mentioned items were upgraded and or replaced we would be happy to come back and stay again.

Visit a sick friend for her birthday, and be with her for her surgery
The place was a mess! Dresser drawer had no bottom, bathroom cabinet was hanging off the hinge, all screens were broken, TV in bedroom had no outlet to plug it into. No garbage bags or pickup. Bench at Firepit broke while we were sitting on it. Asked cleaning lady to have owner contact me to make a report. Never heard from owner, bench was replaced. I would NEVER stay here again. If it wasn't because my friend was having surgery on the 3rd, I would have been out of there, after the 1st night.

Unfortunat
As we approached the weekend, I had a great convo with the property owner however the statements that were given were not held up to. My husband went with his friends to find trash in the house, no linens, plywood floors and a odor like none other. Due to the location of the cabins and the arrival time they were forced to stay in these conditions for the night but ledt very early in the am to goto a cleaner location. I unfortunately will not be recommending this place to anyone and will likely not be using VRbO any longer
