Great for families looking for a get away!! Kids games & Toys / 1000s of books, and more. Kayaks, fishing, paddle boats,
with a great deck to hang out & even a fire pit await!!!

Wonderful cottage style with a beautiful updated interior you will be sure to enjoy!!! Long Lake is located just 60 miles from both Milwaukee & Chicago, nestled between Fox Lake & Grayslake.

Long Lake is beautiful little lake is known for excellent fishing and great for all watersports. The lake is very quiet with minimal boat traffic. If you choose, bring your boat and tie up to your own private pier. If you don't want to partake in motorized water sports, there are kayaks, paddle boats, and a canoe at your disposal to explore the lake and see the amazing birds / wildlife. Fishing is excellent right off the dock, and the lake is home to multiple tournaments over the course of the year.

Inside the cottage there is an exquisite updated kitchen & bath, and two lovely bedrooms for your family to enjoy. The cottage has an amazing interior, with over 1000 books... we are sure you will find something to read!!

Kids will love this cottage, both playing outside, or enjoying the books toys & games that the cottage offers just for them!!!

A Beautiful private much needed get away!

A perfect place to get away and not have to worry about crowds of people! The boats, the lake and pier access were the best! The owners were so kind to leave my grandkids a huge strong blowup which we tied to the pier and the kids spent hours jumping off into the water! All three of my grandkids caught their first fish right off the pier! We all kayaked for the first time! Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the location but were a bit confused at not being able to open windows and enjoy the lake breeze. House was very cluttered also.

A lot of fun

This is the 2nd time we rented this property and both times we had a great time . Kind of a quirky place with a mix of old and new. The grandkids loved a lot of the 50+ year old games. Hosts were easy to contact and replied quickly to any questions or concerns.

Fun a d relaxing stay!

We had a great stay at the house! It was my two 69 yr old parents and me, and there was plenty of room for all of us to relax, fish and enjoy ourselves. Having a full kitchen and bath made the experience much more comfortable, and being able to whip something up in the kitchen quick was great. The beds were comfortable (though the two in the bedrooms are a but high if you have some mobility issues) and we had great night rests. The backyard is big, and it was wonderful to hang out on the deck and just experience the nature surrounding the lake. We had some luck fishing and I took a kayak out for a great peaceful paddle around. It'd a cozy, comfy stay. There are a ton of books you can read, a lot of artistic aesthetics that make the place feel fun, and practically all the supplies you need to have a fun stay. Definitely recommend it and I'm hoping to be able to visit again!

The views and location are exceptional. Beautiful setting and located centrally to Fun antiquing in Volo, restaurants, and forest preserves. Our stay was magical!

Rustic and Overgrown - has future potential

A mixed review here. Pros - The location has a nice waterfront and docks. Use of the kayaks on the lake is great. There is a nice fire pit for outside fires. The owners were very nice and accommodating. The lake is very nice for water and fishing activities. It was also a very quiet neighborhood. Could be better - The checkin/out is manual with meeting owners for keys. The owners use the dock and boat so come and go while you are there (this should have been clear in the listing). When we arrived we learned the roof was leaking, this should have been told to us ahead of time. We woke up on day 2 to water all over the table in the porch. We were lucky we didn’t leave any electronics here to get wet. Water was literally dripping from the ceiling. This isn’t really what we wanted to deal with on vacation. Also while there is internet, it isn’t powerful enough for streaming or a vpn. We stayed a week and needed to login for work. This was not possible. Also the DVD’s player which is the only access to any tv was not working. They did replace it but we had to buy the HDMI cord needed to hook it up. The surface areas were clean but a lot of clutter in cabinets and drawers and with the decor. If you looked close it was dirty and cobwebs behind the stuff. Outside also needed a good power washing. The garbage situation needs some work. You are to put it outside in a black uncovered small bin. The bin was gone most of the time and the animals can get into the garbage and tear it apart and leave a big mess. I think the online explanation could have been more clear so we knew what to expect. It’s a good property with a lot of potential, just some work needs to be done for other people to stay there.

A remote get away during COVID-19.

My daughter, son-in-law, grandson and my husband joined me for a quiet week on a beautiful lake. We read, walked and fished. My husband taught my grandson to fish and it was such a fun experience as they both caught many fish off the dock. We grilled every night and enjoyed our family!

Close retreat

With Covid and traveling issues, this was a nice getaway but close to home. We picked this stay because it had fishing kayaking, paddle boat and a canoe available. We wanted some activities that didn't involve the general public. This was perfect.

Relaxing getaway close to home.

The house was cute, just what we needed for our small family. Hosts were easy to contact and accommodating. Even though we were only an hour from Chicago, it felt like a whole new world. The property has a large yard, the lake is quiet and serene. So many birds, ducks, loons and jumping fish to enjoy right from the deck. Short walk to a small community beach which was not crowded.

what an incredible week!

Katie & Tim are great hosts. The house was perfect for what we wanted, a nearby getaway during COVID. So many water activities available. Loved being able to wake up and get right on the lake in a kayak. Kids loved fishing. Tim even took our kids out on his boat the last day of our trip. It was a wonderful stay.

Nice lake cottage

This lake cottage was the perfect location to get together with family and friends from both the Chicago and southeastern Wisconsin areas. We appreciated being right on the water and having use of the water craft. A wonderful way to spend the Fourth of July holiday!

Heaven is a little closer at a house by the water!!!

We had sooo much fun and we WILL be back! Tim and Kate were awesome from the moment we got here! The house is perfectly placed with water out the front and back door. The fishing is amazing. We enjoyed an awesome storm when we got here and the paddle boats and kayaks the next day! It was a perfect weekend!!

Booking was easy and the owners were very responsive when I had questions about cancellation. House is very eclectically decorated and we loved it! It was fun always seeing something different and interesting. The house was a little cool as the heat in the living area wasn't quite working. House has a great backyard and a wonderful view. The house is old but it was clean and well maintained. We'll definitely come back.

We were looking for a nice, relaxing place to stay with our newly graduated Sailor. This cottage was perfect and only 30 minutes away from base. Loved the decor, beds were comfy & the scenery was beautiful! Thank you Tim & Kate! With 4 other kids looking to join the Navy, we will hopefully be back!

This cottage is the absolute cutest!!!!! I would highly recommmend staying here!!! Kate and Tim(hosts) were SO accomadating and great communication!!!! We LOVED it and had such a wonderful time. Cannot beat this... you're right on the lake and have access to their kayaks, paddle boats, and canoe. The bonfires at night and the s'mores(a nice welcoming gift) was another bonus!!! Over all, such a fun weekend!!!! Thank you again Kate and Tim!!!!!

Great for a weekend away from Chicago

My boyfriend and I had a great weekend here. The yard feels pretty private and we enjoyed the view of the lake. Just as a heads up, the only A/C unit is in the bathroom, so it might be problematic if it’s a very hot day. The fire pit and grill were great (you need to bring your own charcoal). Kate met us and gave us a quick tour of the place and offered restaurant suggestions if needed. She also left us the supplies for s’mores, which was a nice touch. Wifi was very fast! We are already thinking about when we can come back with friends!

Full lake-cottage experience

My wife and I came here for my graduation treat. We both loved the place and the fine details the host put into our stay. Overall we would come back again. We were here in May when it's warm in the day and chilly at night which was perfect for this cabin. During the day we used the kayak and paddle boat to cruise the lake. We saw many people fishing successfully which made us wish we have tried fishing in retrospect. At night we lit the bone-fire which was made convenient with the host providing tools to the finest details including s'mores. When it's chilly at night I enjoyed walking barefoot on the marble which was made warm from the heating system run by Kate & Tim.

Lovely lake view

Kate & Time were very helpful and friendly. The cottage was warm and cozy. They have a lot of nice little extras like a fire pit, kayaks and fishing poles. It was a perfect size for my little family of three. I would stay there again if I was in the area. Thank you for your hospitality. ~Pam W.

Restful Lake Cottage

For this trip we needed a nice place to stay for the weekend while visiting family and friends in the Chicago area and this cottage was just right for us since we are not used to staying in a large city ! The kitchen had what we needed , the bed was comfortable , the only thing was it needed two leather chairs with ottoman in the living room because we had to take turns . All the unique items in the cottage were so cool and we took photos of them ! The deck with the view of Long Lake was wonderful and restful . The driveways were a little tight and would be a little tough if I would have brought my boat down . I wish they had a aluminum fishing boat to use or pontoon because of me and my wife's age and disabilities . Over all we enjoyed our stay and Kate and Tim were both friendly and helpful ! We would consider staying here again !
