Very clean and excellent location. We were travelling by car, so the on site parking was a godsend. Pietro was great with the communications and very quick to resolve any problems, as well as providing helpful suggestions.

Pietro is a lovely host and leaves a lot in the apartment for guests to use. It’s in a good and quiet location,an easy walk into the old town and the beds are very comfortable.

Amazing accommodation ! This was our first visit to Matera and the La Cava Nel Barisano did not disappoint! Both Rosalba and Gianfranco were fantastic hosts. Every detail was thought of, including Gianfranco shuttling us from the public parking to LaCava and back once our stay was completed! I highly recommend this vacation rental! Easy access to good Trattorias as well as an incredible view of ancient Matera!

The apartment is in a great central location - on a piazza with a couple of cafe's outside and above a bistro. Easy access to all the sights of the Sassi and Matera, and of course more cafe's and restaurants less than 10 mins walk. Very centrally located for dining out and getting home after a day of sightseeing. Alberto was a great host - his wife would leave us cakes and focaccia while Alberto made sure we were stocked up for the week with pastries for breakfast and housekeeper who kept us supplied with fresh towels. Apartment located on first floor with easy access via stairs which are not at all steep or difficult to navigate. The photo's on this listing give a good idea of the apartment and it's layout. Of note, the bathroom / shower room is very compact. Someone less agile may find the shower a little difficult to use though Alberto has informed us that he is looking into having this made bigger. If your plan is to cook when staying here then the kitchenette has a combined microwave with convection oven capability, and a single ring bench top stove which we did not use as we just ate out all the time as there are so many places to choose from. Matera is a beautiful town and this apartment offers you easy access to the sights and sounds that Matera has to offer.

We stayed in this lovely apartment for two nights and were sad to have to leave! Cool, spacious, beautifully furnished and conveniently located just 5 minutes’ walk from Matera’s historic Sassi districts, the accommodation included everything we needed for our stay along with a warm welcome from our host. We were also just 2 minutes’ walk from some lovely local restaurants, cafes and convenience stores. Would highly recommend.

The apartment was super clean and the location is perfect! Restaurants all around and the view over Sassi is one of a kind. Our hosts went above and beyond to let us feel at home. Can’t wait to come back🥰

The property is well situated with all local amenities, small local supermarket, resteraunts, cafe/tabaconist, close at hand. The proppery is spacious, clean and well appointed, with off road parking as well. As the property is on the outskirts of Matera it has the benifit of being in easy reach of the local main roads, if you like us want to explore more of the Basilicata area as well as the town of Matera, we also experienced no noise, from these roads. The property is as we have stated is on the outskirts of Matera and a good 20 mins walk from the historic town centre, however we found a good amount of public parking close to the sassi and town centre, mainly using an underground attended car park costing €0.50hr. All in all we enjoyed our stay in Matera, Basillicata, and the flat. Ged and Carey Anne Proctor.
