Comfortable and homey with tons of charm - Perfect for our trip!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here! We were in the area to attend a wedding and this was the perfect place for us to stay! Close enough to everything, but peaceful and quiet with plenty of room! Absolutely felt like a home away from home, with great, eclectic decorations - every time we entered a room we found something new! Beds and furniture were all comfortable, provided linens were all fresh. We would absolutely stay here again!

As mentioned, the home is dated, but it is in great condition, clean and tidy, all appliances in working order. Overall it feels homey - like borrowing a relative's cabin! I am sure it is at its best in the winter, with a fire in the hearth, but it was fantastic for us in July. Enjoy!

Cozy and comfortable. Great for families with children.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this 60's house. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for our 3 generations. There are toys for kids and games for all. The owner described it perfectly, comfy but not pristine. Which makes it such a great place if you are bringing children. There is lots of room to spread out, two living spaces. It was delightful and in a beautiful setting. Loved the quirkiness too, there's a tree in the living room!

Cozy, quirky house with very hospitable owners

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the Mad River House. The home owners were great with communication leading up to our visit and throughout. The place is really comfortable, although not pristine--but the owners were upfront about that. We didn't mind, because we were traveling with children, and didn't want to feel like we were staying in a museum. The idea was for everyone to relax. The fireplace was lovely, and we were provided with plenty of warm blankets and pillows. We got in some sledding, great food, and incredible beers. Overall the trip was a success.
