Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great house for a family reunion! Plenty of ensuite bedrooms, multiple seating areas, and decks. It stormed all week but we were able to enjoy the covered pool. We stayed at sister house Sea Spirit in 2021. Love the location, close enough to beach, and everything convenient to get to.

Reviewer Comments: This was our first time at OBX and we were very pleased with the location of the house, size, amenities, etc. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. Kitchen was fully stocked - only thing that would have been nice was an electric griddle for pancakes. The pool was a little chilly during the day but warmed up by nighttime. I would recommend heating it even in summer. Check-in and out was seamless and easy. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again!

Great for large family

Reviewer Comments: The indoor pool was the reason we chose this home and it was a big hit with everyone. Warm enough with temps in the 50s. The layout is great for everyone to gather or to have their own space. The kitchen is well equipped, but could use newer pots and pans. Crock pot came in handy. Two ovens, sinks and dishwashers in kitchen were very handy. First floor kitchen was handy with extra fridge. Separate ice maker would be handy if it worked. Carpets look new. Recliners in the 4th floor media room are worn and should be replaced. There’s a nice gathering area on the 2nd floor, but no TV there so it wasn’t used by our crowd. Most mattresses were comfortable but a few were not.

It’s a wonderful vacation home and a great location.Walk to beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The stay was very pleasant with a very responsive host. I would say we were pretty content with the property cleanliness and host responsiveness.The kitchen is well stocked and there is plenty of space to sit for 10-20 people. Make sure to bring your own shampoo, conditioner etc. We did not have any in the bathrooms. It was not a big deal for us as we always carry our supplies and there are places very close by if you need to buy anything. The outdoor grill needed some cleaning. The elevator was a great help but stopped working after the first day for us. Should be quick fix for future guests. There is an outdoor shower near the parking area but it’s not functioning. Overall a great place to spend time with family and friends. It’s walking distance from the beach which made it a great location to stay. We would definitely recommend it and would love to go there again.

Family reunion stay

Our family came to the OBX for a cousin reunion (all adult cousins, their partners and children) and rented this house for 4 days. The pros about this house: - It was large enough to comfortably accommodate our big family. - We loved the convenient location, just a short walk to the beach. - Easy access to some great sightseeing. The cons: - Two of the bunks were not made when we arrived - the mattress pads covered in hair and fuzz were an unpleasant sight upon arrival. - Pool area needed cleaning (pool deck was dirty and very much in need of a hosing down) and many sliding doors were stuck/rusted shut. - Extra pillows in closets did not have pillow cases on them or provided to put on. - For the amount we paid for this house, it would have been reasonable to provide more than one roll of toilet paper per bathroom (note that 2 of the bathrooms didn’t have even a roll in them) and a couple of trash bags. All in our group are well-traveled and have stayed in myriad vacation rentals - ALL of which provide toilet paper, dish liquid larger than a travel size bottle, dishwasher pods and trash bags. We had a wonderful time together as a family but the home was lacking. I’d give the home 3 stars and would not choose to stay here again.

Reviewer Comments: House was perfect for what our group needed, we requested to book again next year, plenty of parking, covered pool for the rainy days, close to the beach, plenty of bedrooms with space, no one was cramped and we had Adults, children, dogs.. the whole zoo.Suggestions:1.)House could use larger trash bins in communal areas, we bought bigger ones. 2.) Have more dishes in the downstairs kitchen area, as there were none, not even cutlery.3.) Washer wasn't working, and service tech came out without notice, as this didn't effect our stay it isn't a negative, but suggest giving a party notice stating laundry was down would have been appreciative.

Pool and yard are nice - we had a rainy week so the covered pool was a huge plus. A few of the beds were rock hard and very uncomfortable - making for a tough and sore week for some who unfortunately didn’t let me know until most of the way through the week when I found them sleeping on couches. Kitchen pans (frying pans and cookie sheets) can use a refresh - otherwise fairly well stocked. Overall a good experience. The beds are the biggest issue.

Covered pool area, another great addition to the property. Short walking distance, about 5 minutes to the public beach access was very convenient. Great central location to plenty of restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores.Beach Realty was a great company to rent from.

The pool was great for the kids as was the fenced-in yard. Adequate parking for 8 cars. It's convenient to the beach (about a block away) and also to stores etc. Kitchen seemed a bit undersized however based on the number of people the house can accommodate, but we worked with it and it was fine.

Great place

Sooo many bedrooms and bathrooms. Family of 18 stayed and we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. Loved the two kitchens as well. Pool is awesome well. Short walk to the beach. Great views from the decks. Overall we loved the house.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have rented this house many times in the last 10 years. Nice upgrades with furniture inside and outside. It's a very roomy house which is nice because we have a big crowd every year. That being said, the kitchen refrigerator was totally unacceptable...a small side-by-side that doesn't fit that much food (and we bring a lot so that we can save money shopping at home and so we don't have to spend our beach time at the grocery store), and there was only 1 shelf in door which meant that all our small items/condiments had to go in the main section of which there was already little room. Also, the one drawer is broken and every time we pulled it out it was a mess. Very frustrating to not have an appropriate size refrigerator to accommodate so many people. We had to go up and down 2 flights of stairs to get what we needed to prepare meals. We also could not use our devices in our bedrooms or out in the pool area because the WiFi did not work anywhere except in the living area. Also very frustrating, especially for those who work remotely and needed to periodically check in. The house was pretty clean, but there was a glob of hair on my shower wall and the mirror was a mess. We had to call to get the right number of towel packs and bath mats, which the staff provided in a timely manner. The covered pool is great, but none of the lights or moving parts work, plus it really needs a good power wash...the corners are pretty gross...but the furniture is nice. Our mattress in the second floor master next to the kitchen creaked every time we moved and I would suggest ceiling fans in all the rooms. After the poor refrigerator and WiFi for a house that sleeps 25, we decided to look for a different house. When we learned that the cost for this house went up a whopping $7,000 from what we paid this past year, it was a no brainer. We found an oceanfront house for 2023 for much less that checks all the boxes and more....

Outstanding home away from home

Nice house

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 20 people with dogs. Overall great time with short walk to beach and covered pool. The bottom floor master bath shower was clogged. I did text twice about issues through there app but got no reply. Other than that the house had plenty of room to make a great trip. Loved all the patio deck.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to 'By the Sea' for years. It is comfortable, roomy, and is in a great location...just a short walk to the beach. This year we were pleasantly surprised and delighted with all the upgrades and improvements with new furniture, appliances, and renovations. It was cleaner upon arrival both outside and inside that we have experienced in the past. We already booked for 2022!

Well....

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Contactless Check in was a breeze. House was large enough to accommodate our family and very spacious but... First, housekeeping should be more vigilant about cleaning and inspecting after previous guest. There were dirty socks and underwear found in 2 of the bedrooms and a white pill under the chair, Serving utensils still had old food stuck on them and were in the drawers, Pots, pans, and kitchen mittens and pot holders were half washed, cotton shower curtains were stained, which clearly define lack of housekeeping and upon check out we saw why. There were 3 gentleman sitting in a gray SUV out side of the property when we were checking out smoking marijuana and drinking at 9am!! As soon as we pulled out of the driveway they waved at us pulled in so we doubled back and they were inside the property. Next, we did not appreciate the repair personnel being given access to the unit while we were inside. It’s understandable if we were not there and they needed access but the repair personnel enters and exits the property unannounced which is a privacy violation! Lastly, and the absolute worse, I got stuck in the elevator for 30 minutes and had to call “911” for rescue! The phone inside the elevator did not work, the number posted inside the elevator for emergencies was to a company that no longer serviced the property and Beach Realty was unaware. Which left us to question when was the last time the elevator was serviced! I was so distraught from being trapped in the elevator that the remaining 3 days of our vacation was ruined. Was told that the elevator would be repaired the same day which was Thursday, no one came to access damages or to make repairs. Had to continuously call to get someone to come out for repairs. Elevator was eventually partially repaired and no one was brave enough to use it again! Which meant it was a complete disaster trying to get our elderly disabled parents up and down 2 flights of stairs for 3 days!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Went for spring break with 4 teens, a pre-teen, and a toddler. Beach was still a little cold, so the indoor heated pool was the focus on the whole trip! The home was amazing and we all enjoyed having lots of space! The house was very clean and the furniture even seemed brand new. The walk to the beach was very easy. The property management company was very responsive and we had no issues. We enjoyed this house very much!

Best beach vacation

The comments from our family: "Wow Uncle Gabe, this is the biggest and best beach house we've ever had (18 years now)", "You've outdone yourself and we truly had the best time", "Thank you! This was the best place to spend a vacation". Those are just a few comments. It actually was the best beach house we've stayed at over the last 18 or 19 years. It accommodated everyone nicely and was only a short walk to the beach. The off-season cost made it affordable and allowed us to do what we've always wanted to do, rent a house and invite friends and family to just come and enjoy...we did!Thank you

Kill Devil Hills beach rental

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We all enjoyed this beautiful spacious beach rental. All of our family members had plenty of room. The only negatives of the rental was a few beds were not very comfortable on second floor. There were 2 stoves, microwaves, and dishwashers, but one of each was not in working order. We just used the ones that worked. None of the items were old or worn out, so not sure why. The pool was great and definitely got used a great deal. I would recommend this house to a large family/group.

Maybe these folks don't have to worry about booking or hospitality. In that respect is was a bit disappointing. We've paid less and gotten lots more. To be fair, we didn't call Maintenance and just made due. Didn't want to spend our week entertaining Repairmen or waiting around for the.
