Beautiful Lake of Bays Cottage w/ 310' Private Shoreline & All Day Sun!

A lovely 3 bedroom 2000 sq. ft log cottage + bunkie on Lake of Bays, boasting amazing views of the lake and 310' of private shoreline! Located only 2 hours from Toronto, this recently upgraded cottage is tastefully decorated with gleaming wood laminate floors, pine trim and a freestanding stone fireplace creating that wonderful cottage ambiance. The kitchen offers plenty of counter space with room for eating at the breakfast bar or café table. The long living room and lake room/dining room is divided by the stone fireplace, offering bright views of the deck and lake while you enjoy a meal, or a cozy place to curl up with a good book or movie. A separate games table provides a spot for a puzzle or a great game of cards!

The master bedroom and ensuite bath are located at the north end of the cottage and the other two bedrooms and bath are located at the opposite end for added privacy. The master bedroom is a sprawling 20x20 foot room with vaulted ceilings, pine trim, private sitting area with views of the lake and a large and recently renovated ensuite bathroom. The two additional bedrooms in the south end of the cottage are a good size and are separated by a second bathroom. The front bedroom has direct access to the deck and amazing views.

The cottage sits elevated from the waterfront and the large deck across the front gives a great vantage point to look out over the lake, while the mature trees provide both privacy and some shade. There is a glass-top pergola atop the highest deck, offering shade from sun or rain and making the outdoor space useable at all times. Complete with a patio set for outdoor meals, Napoleon BBQ, Muskoka chairs and chaise loungers, this space offers you sun and vistas all day long. A set of steps lead you halfway down the hill to a secondary deck. The second deck offers sun and shade, and enough privacy to enjoy the peace and quiet of the lake. We also have an outdoor shower and this is where the outdoor fireplace is located. You will find yourself at the south part of the lake with big views of Burnt Island and the opposing shoreline.

A cedar-top dock measures 25'x40' with a boat slip which has room for your boat if you decide to bring one. There is plenty of room to sit on the dock and relax as you gaze out across the expanse of Lake of Bays. The water here is crystal clear, about 3 feet deep right at the shoreline with rock bottom and slopes down to deeper water. Perfect for the kids who will love jumping into 10 ft of water at the end of the dock. There is sun on the dock virtually all day long, with the sun setting directly across from you every night! Come and enjoy cottage life here at this great family cottage.

Overall, the property is well kept and well located. The floors are very uneven for an elderly person. The Cottage is very close to the highway so you do hear the highway noise. The Cottage has all of the things you could need for your time away from home. The beds and bathrooms are very comfortable. The walk to the lake is steep 72 steps but accessible.

A warm and welcoming cottage on a great part of Lake of Bays!

We really enjoyed our two weeks at Sunset Shore. It is a perfect cottage for 2 families to share, since the bedrooms/bathrooms are on opposite sides of the house, and the indoor and outdoor seating is spacious. We spent lots of time in the water and really appreciated having the peddle boat, paddle board, canoe and Lilypad!! We also brought a motor boat with us and it fit perfectly into the slip in the dock. At one point there was an issue with the dishwasher and Ryan was extremely responsive when I let him know. It was fixed within a day. We're already looking forward to returning next summer.

The best sunsets!

This cottage is conveniently located just off the main road and close to Baysville and Dorset for little outings or if you need to grab more ice/snacks etc. On occasion we would hear a bit of traffic but nothing that bothered us! We brought 3 vehicles, a boat trailer and bike trailer and with some reorganization we managed to fit all in the driveway quite nicely. The cottage is spacious and well laid out..lots of indoor comfy seating areas/games table etc for any lazy days spent inside. The dining room was perfect for bringing dinner inside when the bugs were too much to handle! The outside deck areas are great for watching the sunsets which are definitely the main attraction each night! We enjoyed sitting on the dock during the day…large lake but it was usually quite calm and just enough boat traffic to entertain us! Nice outdoor fireplace on the bunkie level with another great view of the lake and the tv in the bunkie is a nice option if you want to watch it while having a campfire! Overall we had a very enjoyable, comfortable stay and came home with some great memories and a LOT of sunset pictures!

Amazing getaway!!

Wow what an amazing experience! My husband and I booked Ryan and Mikes place for a last week away with our close friends as a vacation/baby moon and it did not disappoint! The cottage itself is located just minutes from the adorable town of baysville where we checked out local shops, the lake of bays brewery and plenty of ice cream places. It was extremely clean and well kept, very spacious while still having those “cottage cozy” vibes. The primary bedroom has more than enough space for two plus additional space for anyone travelling with little ones that need a playpen or crib area. There is ample space between bedroom sections so noise is very minimal if any at all. We travelled with our friends 20 month old and never heard his little feet running around at 6am lol. The view from back deck is spectacular both during the day but especially when the sun is setting over the lake. Worried about taking some time off from the gym for the week? The stairs up and down to the dock have you covered lol. Although there were several of them at 7.5 months pregnant I was able to do them many times up and down without any issues. We toured into Huntsville and Dorset to get groceries a few times which was a quick 20min drive so no issues at all there either. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessities way more than the average cottage rental usually comes with. We had such an amazing time for our week stay that leaving was the only negative part. Highly recommend 5 star rental. The pictures do not do it justice. Thank you again Ryan & Mike for you gracious hospitality!!

A great week on Lake of Bays

Two families, four adults and five kids, had a great time at Michael’s cottage. The bunkie was perfect for the kids was great and the little a-t-il. Was terrific. Michael was super responsive to a text with any questions and needs through the week. Super hosts and a great cottage!

Awesome sunsets

We had a lovely week at this cottage. The teens enjoyed the bunkie and the adults enjoyed all the space of the main cottage. The cottage is well located, very close to Baysville for your ice cream cones! The views from the back deck were a beautiful first impression and the evenings on the dock were perfect for taking in the awesome sunsets. Just be prepared for the stairs...excellent for working off the ice cream!

We enjoyed our stay a lot. Although there were only three of us it would also be great for a large family- i.e. we would consider bringing my husband’s two kids, their spouses, and the four grandkids and it would work great due to the bunkie. It was easy to find and a great location for lots of sightseeing- the Lake of Bays scenic drive, Algonquin Park and more. The kitchen was perfect- well equipped, lots of counter space, coffee maker, toaster, full sized fridge. One downside is that there are lots of stairs to get to the lake so it isn’t easy in the evening to enjoy the lakefront. On the other hand the deck is huge and we spent a lot of time out there. The owners were very responsive to questions and checked in on us proactively after arrival and at the end of our stay to ensure all was gong well. The only negatives I would add is that a) you have to bring all of your own sheets, towels, paper towels, Saran Wrap, etc.- compared to other high end places I have stayed this is unusual and b) you are expected to do deeper cleaning than I am used to and given there is a cleaning fee included it seems like a bit of overkill. All of this being said, I do understand that when it comes to longer term rentals, which are common in high season in Muskoka, this likely makes sense. For a three day stay it was a bit of an annoyance. This by no means ruined our stay and I would recommend this property highly.

Upon arrival our family was very impressed with the cottage and cleanliness. After 2 days we saw evidence of mouse droppings. We set traps and caught 5 mice in 2 days. This infestivation should have been disclosed prior to our arrival. Would not book this cottage again

Beautiful Lakeside Cottage!

Wonderful experience at this fantastic cottage! We had 8 adults in our group and there was plenty of room for everyone. The cottage and bunkie were clean and bright, roomy but cozy at the same time. Great roadside lot with waterfront on the back side. The large dock and assorted water vehicles all worked great and allowed us to have extra fun in the lake. The large upper deck was covered, allowing us to take in the views and fresh air even on our rainy day. We booked online and had zero issues, everything went smoothly. Great cottage on a nice lake!

My family and I had a great time staying at this cottage this past summer. Everything worked out perfectly. The cottage binder that was emailed to us prior to our arrival as well as the information at the cottage (map, restaurant/things to do, etc) was really helpful and covered all the questions that we had. After we arrived, the owner called to see if everything was ok and to let us know about the triathlon that was going to occur on the road outside of the cottage so that we weren’t surprised about restricted access on the road during the triathlon. The weather was great and we had a blast being on the water - exploring the lake, water tubing, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming off the dock. The multiple decks have great views of the water. The dock is a good size and there’s a nice breeze on the water so we had 0 issues with mosquitos. The boats (canoes, paddleboards, pedal boat, row boat) at the cottage that we could use were a real bonus and our children had a lot of fun on the water with these. The cottage worked out well – the kitchen is well appointed, the open layout is spacious and the bedrooms/bathrooms are nice, grill, outdoor fireplace, Bunkie, etc. There are also lots of board games, darts, etc that our children enjoyed using. Lake of the Bays, which the cottage is on is a great lake to explore. It’s deep, easy to navigate as there are not a lot of shoals and boat traffic is light. We also enjoyed checking out Baysville and Dorset. Both are cute and have neat restaurants and things to do. Everyone in the towns were friendly. We rented a boat from Baysville Marina and had a great experience there as well. This was our first time at staying at this cottage and we look forward to coming back!

Beautiful location with sunsets that look like they are from a post card! Well maintained Cottage, very spacious and lovely dock with room for multiple boats. The boat launch to Lake of Bays was very close and easily accessible. Close proximity to Gravenhurst and Bracebridge. Wonderful stay, owner replies quickly to any requests. Would recommend the Cottage for someone looking for a quiet, tranquil getaway.
