The Tannery Mudgee Self-contained, walking distance to town centre
*** Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine's Favourite Place to Stay in Mudgee 2019 *** Exquisite country accommodation in the heart of Mudgee
Catering on an exclusive use basis for up to two couples, with open fires, a fabulous dining room, modern kitchen, claw-foot bathroom, delightful rear garden and comfortable beds - all complimenting the simple style of the early Victorian era. Enjoy the peace and quiet, luxury setting and handy location for a very special Mudgee getaway.
In 1858 a saddler by trade, James Dixon Little was operating the Australian Tannery at the rear of this site and it is believed that the present cottage was built by Little in the late 1850's as accommodation for workers at the tannery.
The cottage, though now renovated, has retained much of its natural charm. Catering for one or two couples, there is a comfortable lounge with open fire, two bedrooms with luxurious linen, comfortable beds (one queen and one double), a superbly finished bathroom with deep claw foot bath, fabulous dining room and large well-equipped industrial stainless steel kitchen, with second large fan-forced fireplace, all complimenting the simple style of the early Victorian era.
Enjoy the enclosed garden with covered verandah to sit and read the papers, sip a cup of tea or coffee, before strolling down the quiet Lawson Street to the town centre, the local markets, one of the many cafes, Roths Wine Bar, or the nearby Oriental Hotel. Country living in the heart of town - the best of both worlds.
With off street parking, TV/DVD/CD, wifi.
Tariff includes quality linen, standard kitchen provisions.
The Tannery is set up for adults and not suited for children. Note that the bedding comprises one queen and one double bed that are unable to be split to singles. Due to its heritage nature, The Tannery is not suitable for easy disabled access, in particular to clawfoot bath shower facility.
Minimum two night stay. Pets and children 2-15 yrs are not permitted.

An amazing place, conveniently located full of character and charm.
I and Ellen had a fantastic stay. We really enjoyed the fireplace, large kitchen, and very comfy bed. We will be sure to stay again in the future. Very conveniently located close to the park and an easy bike ride to the wineries.

Beautiful heritage cottage. Wonderfully furnished and supremely comfortable. Contact with the owner was prompt and
efficient.
Can’t recommend highly enough.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Tannery. Darren is a wonderful host. The information that he provides on the town and the surrounding areas was fantastic. The house is lovely & the yard is great. It was extremely hot when we were there & it was hard to sleep without aircon. But we had a great time & look forward to staying there again.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Tannery - the house had wonderful character and the two fire places kept us all very warm. The kids enjoyed playing in the lovely back yard, and the location was perfect with a short walk to parks and into town. Would highly recommend it!
