Lorne and Surrounds
Lorne is a very popular beach tourist resort town, located on one of Australia's most scenic coastal routes, the Great Ocean Road, between Aireys Inlet and Wye River.
Cafes and boutiques line the main foreshore, creating a Mediterranean feel to the area. Lorne's wide foreshore area extends from the shops on down to the patrolled sandy beach areas. Further south at Point Grey is the jetty where the annual Lorne Pier to Pub open water swim is held, attracting national interest. Sheltered swimming is available at the mouth of the Erskine River where a long suspension bridge crosses this waterway and the sandy beach below.
Good views of the area can be enjoyed from Teddy's Lookout, at the southern end of George Street. The upper and lower lookouts offer views inland as well as south along the coast and down to the point where the Great Ocean Road crosses the George River at its mouth. Views of the town and its main beach can be experienced from several of the picnic spots along the Great Ocean Road between the Surf Life Saving Club and Point Grey.
There's more to Lorne than just the beach. The mountainous and bushy Otway Ranges form an attractive backdrop to Lorne, with the Great Otway National Park offering many bush walking tracks. The spectacular Erskine Falls are located within the park, just 8 kilometres west of town.
The Great Ocean Road south of Lorne is a particularly scenic section of this popular tourist route with the road hugging the coastline for much of its journey. Less than 10 kilometres from Lorne is the Mount Defiance Lookout, while further south is the small and very scenic coastal community of Wye River.

Very good location, quiet with ocean views.Older style venue, but still very nice, clean and nicely appointed for short to medium stays.Very happy to stay again!
Super cute place with beautiful views.. easy checkin and great communication from the host. Nice and clean and convenient parking and access to the car. Bring toiletries as no shampoo or conditioner and also regular tea bags.
The room was comfortable and close to Lorne and places of interest. We did enjoy our stay, especially being so close to the beach. Some attention is needed re the cleaning regime, especially checking under the bed and wiping down walls and furniture.
As long as you are not expecting a modern home this is a slightly off pitch reasonably priced home with great beach views. I give this 5 because the place fitted my expectations.
A peaceful, clean, cozy studio apartment with everything we needed in a great spot. Loved the sound of the sea and ocean view from the breakfast table. Five minutes walk to the beach (across the Great Ocean Road), and five minutes drive to Lorne shops and restaurants.
The room was very clean and comfortable. Great views of the ocean
Perhaps the owner may consider updating the pillows and table.
Everything else was good. Thank you
Very comfortable property, great Ocean views and everything you needed for a couple of days stay. Very steep driveway that is tricky to navigate but otherwise ok. Free internet worked well. We used it as a base to explore The Great Ocean Road as we came from Leongatha. Very quiet and peaceful.

Disappointed
I did not expect luxe at this price point, but was disappointed at the lack of upkeep of this room. The only wndow to the living area was dirty on the inside, including mildew on the glass and mould on the timber sill. There was dust on the items on the bookshelf, dust on the floor under the bookshelf and dust on the suitcase rack. I cannot understand how this property gets a 9 score. Some of the cutlery was rusty, the dishwashing sponge was old and dirty, and the tile grout in the shower a lot of mould. The furniture was old and the couch was smelly. The towels were old and very thin, and the towel rails were flimsy. The pictures on the Stayz site are out of date, and there is no pretty garden there anymore. Just a neglected oatch.

Nice spot, but .......
I was informed that I would be emailed details regarding access to the property the day before check-in. This did not happen. After arriving at the property and messaging the owner / manager via the website and phone, I received access details several hours later.
There isn't any facility within the property for recycling.
Do not bring frozen food. The freezer does not work.
The property's water supply runs off a demand-triggered pump. It is quite loud and runs every time you use water.
There is rats or possums nesting under the house, against a back wall of the property. There is very loud scratching intermittently on the evenings.
No faults with the property, and communication, prior to the the day of arrival was fine but on checking in, it was useless! Absolutely no response from owner. Had to get VRBO involved who took over 90 mins to do absolutely nothing for us. We would explain the situation, only for the issue to be escalated to a higher up and then cut off in the process so we had to go through that twice. Not the owners issue but one should be aware of the failings here too. The owner finally contacted us, with a comment of 'Oh...is it that late, is it'? Seriously not cool! Appreciated the compensation of $50 but we were in Lorne for just one afternoon and lost most of the time we had, was spent sitting outside the property, stressed and upset.
