Great Location although accommodations subpar

  • 2 of 5

10 family members (including me) were attending a family reunion and watching the marathon. Here are our pro/con lists of this rental home:

Pro: great location near DePaul University; close enough to public transportation; walkable to lake, restaurants and stores

Con: no bureaus or storage place for clothes other than hanging in closet which meant we all lived out of suitcases for 4 nights; outlets didn't work properly (plugs kept falling out); tripped a breaker by using microwave and water kettle heater at the same time; no large pots or pans to cook in; located in building with numerous college students who held a party on back porch until 2am and were fairly noisy the next night;

I've rented through VRBO over 15 times throughout the world and have to say that this one disappointed me.

Great location close to restaurants

  • 4 of 5

Matt was very helpful and responsive to questions we had about the property. Matt quickly resolved some water pressure and cleaning issues we encountered. Good place to stay. Needs a few updates. However, the neighborhood is great.

Great location and space but some updates needed

  • 4 of 5

The Good: The apartment was a fantastic space for two families (4 adults and 4 kids). The adults each had a separate bedroom and bathroom, kids stayed downstairs with their own TV and bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was clean. The location was perfect: safe, walkable to train, Whole Foods, lake and close to many restaurants and shops. There were shampoos and coffee available.

The Not-So Good: While clean, the apartment had some maintenance issues. A kitchen cabinet door was falling off its hinge, the bathroom shower curtain was mildewed, the exhaust fan was broken and very loud. There were quite a few scrapes on the walls which made it seem, on closer look, run down and not well cared for. There were no extra pillows or towels, and there were no kitchen towels.

Also, there is only the one table to eat at, so if you have a big group, you will be eating in shifts.

Would these issues make me not rent again? Probably not, but it would be great if the owners could add/improve those few things to justify the way the apartment is described.

Great place for a family !!!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Chicago. This unit is in a great location in Lincoln Park. The area has plenty of little shops and restaurants. We felt totally safe here. Short walk to the L. We were in town for the week for a wedding. Plenty of space. Matt was quick to respond to some questions and minor issues. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Great location, great layout

  • 4 of 5

Great location and setup to stay for our family and friends for our daughter's wedding. Good layout. Good communication with Matt who responded quickly to our questions. Easy access. Keyless entry was nice not having to keep up with keys. More hand towels/wash cloths could be provided for the number of beds. Overall a good experience.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

The location is great! We enjoyed our short trip to Chicago with family. There were 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 little children. Really enjoyed the king size beds, the place was spacious, the wifi worked great, and the kitchen was well equipped. It was a short walk to the Fullerton L station which we used several times. Also a 15 minute walk to Lincoln Park Zoo and the Conservatory. The Conservatory's Christmas train room was absolutely marvelous. It is also short walks to several wonderful restaurants! We didn't have any problems, but when I contacted Matt regarding arrival and departure details, he responded very quickly via text.
