Wonderful home; Wonderful Location
Sheila and Steve's home on Thompson Lake is wonderful. It is well equipped (linen, kitchen items, and other supplies) and can even accommodate a large family with young children on a rainy day (foosball, ping pong, board games, a extensive DVD library, and a hot tub)! The children love the bunk room which, as do two bedrooms for adults, has a great view of the lake. Lake access is suitable for youngsters, swimmers, and boaters. The home comes with a canoe and two kayaks which are great for exploring the lake. Shopping is a short drive. Thompson Lake is large (11 miles long) and deep (120 feet at deepest). There is little boat traffic. The water is clear. We know central Maine lakes, and we can attest that Thompson Lake is the finest. The home is quiet. It is located on the second of two islands connected to the mainland by two causeways.
So wonderful that I almost DON'T want to tell folks about it
We rented this beautiful, large, exceptionally stocked and maintained house on lovely Thompson Lake in Maine. It easily and comfortably accommodated our family of 10 from age 2 to 76. It strikes the perfect balance between nature, water based activities such as swimming, boating and fishing, and just plain good old fashioned relaxing in a quiet, pristine location. We loved it...and can recommend it to anyone who wants a serene getaway. The owners have made sure that guests are taken care of and even provide a binder that is filled with useful information from where to eat to how to reset the internet modem! We loved, loved, loved the place. Thanks again for a MAGNIFICENT stay.
Great place, highly recommend!
Thank you for letting us stay at your house on Thomson lake.
This is the most magnificent and gorgeous place I have ever seen! That few days were a winter wonderland fairy tale for us.
Relaxing Get Away
We needed a last minute escape from the city and lucked into this beautiful home. The pictures do not do justice to the beautiful kitchen - it was a pleasure to cook (they even have sharp knives!). The dining room and living room are spacious, yet cozy. Our girls (ages 1 & 3) had so much fun in the driveway and yard. The setting is amazing - beautiful lake views and a truly secluded yard. The owners were very accomodating. An amazing weekend - we should have stayed longer.
We have been renting through VRBO for over ten years. We just stayed at this property over New Years and I really cannot say enough about it! It is very spacious with many rooms to relax on the first floor. All of which are nicely decorated with plenty of comfortable furniture. The kitchen is fantastic with lots of room for people to cook and/or eat at the island and is stocked with everything you could possible need. The 5 bedrooms up stairs are set up perfectly and will work if you have a small group or a large crowd. There are two very nice full baths up stairs as well as a half bath on the firsts floor. In the finished basement there is a room with a pool table and attached to that is a large garage (with heat) that has ping pong and foosball. There is also a glassed in room with a nice big hot tub which was great! Super super clean and the owners, Sheila and Steve are great to deal with. The one and only thing I would suggest, and it is minor, is to have some kind of shades in the bedrooms. The view of the lake is fantastic and I can see why it is wide open but it would be nice to be able pull down a shade at night and to block early morning sun. Not a big problem, just a preference thing. All in all this property is by far one of the best we have rented. We would most definitely return!
A VERY SPECIAL HOME
We have rented this house for several years. It's a lovely, well cared for and well appointed home. In my opinion, Thompson Lake is one of the nicest lakes in the area.
The owners are very accessible and if a problem occurs they take care of it immediately.
We have rented other homes in the area and this is by far our favorite. I give it a rave review!
