About Paul and Jeanne

Please see our website where there is information about our incredible Pan American Highway trip and how we found this amazing treehouse.

Paul and Jeanne purchased this house in 2004

Why Paul and Jeanne chose Costa Rica

The treehouse is very out-of-the-box. The view is spectacular. The local people are helpful and friendly. Only a 60 minute drive from Liberia International Airport

What makes this house unique

Escape from the stress and pressures of the outside world. Our guests have written many wonderful reviews of their stays.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We disconnected from our daily chaos, technology, news cycles, and the clutter that crowds our hearts and minds to re-connect as a family in the middle of the jungle. We leave tomorrow with full hearts, clear minds, and well fed souls. Our boys (ages 8 and 12) have not had TV or computers for 8 days and they haven’t complained once. They have connected with the environment and have enjoyed reading books in the hammocks and mastering the game of Boggle. I have never seen them so content with just being still. I, too, have enjoyed the ability to be still while in this beautiful home, which is quite an accomplishment for me.

We had the gift of 20 monkeys all day yesterday right outside the kitchen window, including several babies. In fact we’ve seen monkeys every day ! We also spotted an iguana in the tree outside the master bath each day and of course, the resident frog our first night. (That was quite the welcome ! )

We explored several of the local beaches but found Playa Negra to be our favorite. Though we enjoyed most meals in the beautiful kitchen here, we did have a fabulous pizza at KonTiki last night.

Lula, at Lula’s Tours arranged for us to zipline through La Finca de Norma, which was exhilarating for all of us. Mornings and dinnertime were special times of day for us here at Jungla Vista. Mornings were spent in the hammocks on the deck, viewing the monkeys and enjoying fabulous Costa Rican coffee. Cooking by candlelight was super special, and we even enjoyed sushi, pud Thai, and gnocchi with the well equipped kitchen. Who knew you could eat like Kings in a treehouse!

We will always remember this vacation, always. Thank you for sharing this remarkable home with us. We feel so lucky to have found it. !! Pura Vida !!

Paradise Found

We were in love with the Treehouse before we arrived in CR. We had spent so much time online looking at photos and reading about the area, that we felt that we knew what to expect.

However, when we were initially shown around the house and saw firsthand the views of the jungle and of the Pacific, and then heard the Howlers in the valley below... we were stunned. You cannot fully appreciate the experience until you are sitting in one of the rocking chairs or lying in one of the hammocks, and then you will wish you never had to leave.

The Treehouse is unlike any vacation our family had yet experienced. Well appointed furnishings, beautiful teak floors, and every modern appliance you could need... all of that while you are truly living IN the jungle. The only thing between you and the flora and fauna is a few feet of open air.

We were very well treated by everyone associated with the Treehouse. Paul contacted us long before our arrival and provided more than ample information on traveling to the area from Liberia Airport, and also about shopping, dining, and activities while we would be there. The local staff, Maria, Carlos and Brainard, were all extremely helpful.

We fell in love with the town of Playa Negra; its dark sand beaches with great swimming and surfing, Cafe Playa Negra, and the charming Lula of Lula's Tours.

I would strongly recommend if you rent a vehicle that you get a 4x4 or AWD with good clearance for the roads and streambeds that you will navigate during your stay.

We cannot wait to go back again. Pura Vida!

Great experience

  • 4 of 5

It is beautiful and incredible. Kitchen is incredibly well stocked. We stopped at Santa Cruz (1/2 hr out) for food etc and had great dinners with our family. We had monkeys "strolling" through the trees rt near the house on multiple occasions. The playa negra beach was beautiful. Road to get there was a little rough but you get used to it. Nice to have a washer and dryer for all the family clothes. My only big tip that we got from Ray (kind of next door) was to shut the lights before dusk, turn on the light down in the laundry room to draw the bugs there, then you can turn the lights back on 1-2 hours later in the tree house and you won't have near as many bugs/moths. An experience you will never forget.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the tree house. Loved the small town and seclusion. We were a bit hesitant the first night and had to get used to the nature (insects). By the second and third nights we had become one with nature and truly enjoyed the peacefulness and adventure of the location. The house is gorgeous and well maintained. The monkeys visited and it was a dream come true. Great communication and information from the owners. My only complaint was having to drive into town after an already long day of driving to meet the person to lead us to the tree house and then having to drive back down the same long, rough road to get back to where we started.

Terrific vacation....from the monkeys who greeted us upon our arrival to the zen peacefulness!

  • 5 of 5

Four of us traveled to Junglavista and our stay was incredible. The ladies did yoga each morning on the observation deck while the fellows caught up on their reading. Monkeys, birds galore and sounds we dream of in the city surrounded us. Paul and Jeanne recommended restaurants which we loved....the local residents and staff and food in each place was fantastic. The beaches were close by and each had jts own special vibe. It is a magical, healing place. Thank you for introducing us to a terrific part of CR!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. Jeanne and I think about our Treehouse in Pura Jungla often. It is so very unique and out-of-the box, in a beautiful part of Costa Rica.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

The tree house is spectacular. The engineering and craftsmanship are extraordinary. They spared no expense in building the tree house. The furnishing were also of the highest quality. My favorite place was sitting in the rocking chairs and looking out at the ocean. We came with our two teenage children and were totally amazed. We were there in early April and the leaves were just budding. The monkeys came right up to the edge of the treehouse to eat the buds and flowers. It was an incredible experience.
