Gorgeous house and property!
I wish we had stayed for more than a week!
What we hoped it would be!
We had a spectacular time in Costa Rica and at the house. The grounds are beautiful and the house is perfectly designed to provide the feeling of being one in nature. I have been to the outback of over 30 countries and I would rate my experience here as one of the top 5. As a family we are the outback kind of travelers, 4 wheeling everywhere we go and we have an eye for wildlife small and big, and enjoy nature best when it just "is". Even though, this wasn't really the outback, our taste was still very satisfied. We admired the iguanas, agouti, howlers, birds and were entertained by the feasting of geckos, tarantulas, and a scorpion on the smaller bugs in the comfort of the treehouse while we played cards. And I must say, even the bugs in Costa Rica are gorgeous and their detail is fascinating. There were no mosqitos at all, so we didn't feel like we needed to use any of the nets we had taken with us. Be careful, with the black ants however, they were attracted to my perfume and the first night I was bit over exposed areas of my face and chest while asleep. The purfume bottle was covered in black ants the next day. I threw the perfume away and sprayed the ants, and it never was a problem again. It was suggested to keep everything in the fridge and I think that is something that needs to be followed. Overall we took in the tranquility and enjoyed the no sound, air, or light pollution. We loved playa negra, uncrowded ( 5-6 other people) surf conditions were perfect for us. But if you are a beginner or even intermediate or a swimmer it is best to travel a little further. (15 - 20 min. South or north). One thing I didn't know was that the dry season is truly dry...so Guanacaste was not green and is rather yellow in Feb. But that made it also really good because we were able to spot the animals much easier. Paul and Jeanne are very nice and the property manager and Lula from the little tour shop were extraordinarily people.
We truly had a blast, and had great adventures. Thank you for sharing with us.

This house is fabulous. Great setting, looking out at the treetops is amazing.
Great location, beautiful design and construction, outstanding furnishings.
Best place I have ever stayed, anywhere.
Dave also commented: Now back from Costa Rica and your fabulous treehouse. Your treehouse is basically heavenly ....I cannot decide what is my favorite time of day there. Sunrise and early morning hours ....out of the mid day sun ...or the candlelit evenings ...or the perfect night time temperatures. Your restaurant selections were a huge help and I found all meals eaten out to be wonderful.
A most amazing and wonderful experience! We'll be back
We love this place so much we are considering a nearby lot to build a similar property! All but the bedrooms & baths are COMPLETELY open air! I thought bugs, critters, cooking in the open would be challenging...quite the contrary. They generally didn't pay us any mind. The place is gorgeous, well equipped, & very comfortable with stunning views of close up wildlife and the ocean not so far away (10 minutes to the best surfing beach; ALL the beaches here provide AMAZING sunsets.) It's refreshing to have a sustainability bent on an elegant property. We'll be back!
We were in love with the Treehouse before we arrived in CR. We had spent so much time online looking at photos and reading about the area, that we felt that we knew what to expect.
However, when we were initially shown around the house and saw firsthand the views of the jungle and of the Pacific, and then heard the Howlers in the valley below... we were stunned. You cannot fully appreciate the experience until you are sitting in one of the rocking chairs or lying in one of the hammocks, and then you will wish you never had to leave.
The Treehouse is unlike any vacation our family had yet experienced. Well appointed furnishings, beautiful teak floors, and every modern appliance you could need... all of that while you are truly living IN the jungle. The only thing between you and the flora and fauna is a few feet of open air.
We were very well treated by everyone associated with the Treehouse. Paul contacted us long before our arrival and provided more than ample information on traveling to the area from Liberia Airport, and also about shopping, dining, and activities while we would be there. The local staff, Maria, Carlos and Brainard, were all extremely helpful.
We fell in love with the town of Playa Negra; its dark sand beaches with great swimming and surfing, Cafe Playa Negra, and the charming Lula of Lula's Tours.
I would strongly recommend if you rent a vehicle that you get a 4x4 or AWD with good clearance for the roads and streambeds that you will navigate during your stay.
We cannot wait to go back again. Pura Vida!

It is beautiful and incredible. Kitchen is incredibly well stocked. We stopped at Santa Cruz (1/2 hr out) for food etc and had great dinners with our family. We had monkeys "strolling" through the trees rt near the house on multiple occasions. The playa negra beach was beautiful. Road to get there was a little rough but you get used to it. Nice to have a washer and dryer for all the family clothes. My only big tip that we got from Ray (kind of next door) was to shut the lights before dusk, turn on the light down in the laundry room to draw the bugs there, then you can turn the lights back on 1-2 hours later in the tree house and you won't have near as many bugs/moths. An experience you will never forget.
A quiet, peaceful, rural area. Non-touristy. Great place to escape to. Located in a 250 acre eco-reserve. Close to several incredible beaches.
