Villa Dakoronia was easily the best and most beautiful place to stay on the island!
There aren't enough words to describe how amazing our trip was from start to finish. Petra is the most amazing host and friend you could ever ask for. A light in the dark always brightening your day. We wish we could have spent more time with her. But she steered us in the right direction. Our island cruise was unforgettably amazing. And the villa was a dream. The best location only steps from all of the main stores and restaurants in Fira. With an unbeatable view all day and night. The beds were heavenly. And having a kitchen and washer plus two baths, we felt like we were living like royalty. The pool was a huge hit. We spent the days we weren't exploring laying beside it Andrea passerbys constantly stopped to admire our choice. When we come back to Greece again, there's nowhere else we'd choose to stay. Villa Dakoronia is hands down the best on the island and we are so grateful to Petra and the staff who took care of us. They were so kind, helping with our bags and cleaning every day. It was a dream come true. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words!
We are more than happy to know that you had such a wonderful time in our beautiful villa and island! We would love to welcome you again in the future...!

Perfect vacation villa!
From beginning to end, our host exceeded our expectations. We followed many of their recommendations which were always awesome, then came hope to a refreshing dip in the pool and wine overlooking the caldera. By far our best vacation in the perfect spot ❤️
Thank you for your kind words!
It was a real pleasure having you here and I am really glad that I helped you to experience an unforgettable vacation.
Hope to see you again soon
I wish you all the best ❤️
Memos and Johanna made our trip!
So let me start out by saying that my review of this Villa is LONG over due as I was there last summer. Though I figured it's better late than never. I'm going to keep it short and sweet. The house was great in every way, great location, ample space for me and my three other girlfriends, close to many restaurant, bars, and shops. Getting to the house itself is a bit of a challange due to the steps you have to go down from the parking lot but it's well worth it.
Now let me get to what made our trip amazing. MEMOS AND HIS WIFE! Memos met us at the ferry to pick us up and drove us to the house. He did warn us about the steps we would encounter prior to arriving but we had no clue what we were in store for. He was so nice though and helped the smallest person in our group, carrying her luggage for her. When we arrived, we arrived to a freshly baked banana bread by Johanna (I can still smell it now) and a bottle of wine. Johanna also had some snacks and a welcome drink ready so we could toast to our vacation. We wanted to tour the city and asked Memos how was the best way to go about it and he said with him. Who was we to argue. The next day we had a full day touring the island with him. He took us to several beaches, churches, historical sites, lunch at a restaurant in which he insisted on doing the ordering in which I'm glad he did as the food was amazing, and to top it off wine tasting on the way back to the villa. The attention that we received and the knowledge he had about the island was impeccable. On our last night there we wanted to eat a nice restaurant with a nice view. Memos told us he would handle it. When we arrived back to the villa from doing our own exploring, there was a note on the table with our reservation information listed on it. He really did take care of it! Now to top off how amazing he was. We as 4 females were dreading the trek back up those steps to the parking lot with our luggage. We are 4 females, touring Greece and Barcelona for two weeks, you can imagine how much luggage we had. Memos said don't worry about it, pack your luggage and leave it by the door and I'll take care of it overnight for you. When we woke up, our luggage was already in his car and waiting for us. All of it! I was so sad to leave Santorini. The city and the hospitality was beyond five stars!
I just read in a most recent review that as of last month Memos and Johanna are no longer the managers. I'm glad I was able to meet them
Best location and views on the islalnd of Santorini
I booked this villa based on the location and amenities, but also based on the excellent reviews of the personal service by the owners. The villa was as listed, but the experience was not quite what I had expected based on the reviews. Joanna and Memos no longer live on site nor do they personally manage the property. We were told upon arrival that as of the first of October, it is now being managed by a rental management agency. Unfortunately, we were one of their first clients and they hadn't quite mastered the learning curve. We arrived after dark and were met at the airport by a van transport service which dropped us off at the closest parking area to the villa. From there we had to wrestle our own luggage down a steep, winding, dark, broken cobblestone path to the villa, being led by a management member who gave us only her first name and phone number should we need further assistance. The internet didn't work, and after several attempted calls to the phone number provided and an email to the owners, someone came out to change out the repeater, which helped only marginally. Internet service was unreliable at best. The pool was not heated, but after the first 2 days, that problem was solved. Hopefully the service provided by the rental agency will improve.
Having said that, we really enjoyed the villa. The location and views of the caldera were unsurpassed, especially at sunset. It far enough away from Fira to be quiet, but close enough to easily walk into town, which we did daily. The cable car and several really good restaurants were within easy walking distance. We never rented a car and didn't feel that we needed one, as we could walk wherever we wanted to go. We had hoped to enlist Memos for an island tour, but instead took and island tour with Dimitris at Ocean Wave Tours. He was great and I highly recommend him. The upper and lower level outdoor spaces at the villa were amazing, and we really enjoyed the pool. The beds were comfortable, and the villa was clean and well stocked (with daily cleaning service). Upon leaving, we were provided with someone to carry our luggage to the transport van for our return trip to the airport. We had a great trip, but it wasn't quite the experience I had expected. There are 2 flights of stairs to access the first and second floor, so if your are mobility impaired it might be an issue.
We loved our visit. Villa was modern, very clean and convenient to restaurants and shopping. Joanna was a great hostess. Gave us a lovely parting gift that was very unexpected. Thank you for making our visit so nice.
Wonderful family vacation
I stayed with my family (Mom, Dad and sister) at Joanna's place and had a wonderful time! For those who haven't stayed on the Caldera, it's important to note that certain locations require more or less effort to reach, and this location was one of the more accessible ones. Joanna was very helpful throughout our stay, and very accessible as well. She was responsive on email and well prepared for our visit with welcome materials.
When I come back to Fira, I will seek out this property again - it's in an excellent location and extremely well-managed.
Firá is the capital of Santorini. It is a traditional settlement. Fira is a city of white-washed houses built on the edge of the 400 m high caldera on the western edge of the semi-circular island of Santorini. The two main museums of interest are the Santorini Archeological Museum,( 300 m east of Villa Dakoronia), and the Museum of Prehistoric Thera at the southeast corner of the White Orthodox Cathedral . Access to Fira is mainly by roads on its eastern side, climbing from its port via the Z-shaped footpath on foot or on donkeys, or by riding the steep cable car from its lower terminal by the port. The central square of Fira is called Plateia Theotokopoulou, with a bus and taxi station, banks and pharmacies. The narrow paths, lined with all kinds of souvenir shops, jewelry shops, and restaurants linking the upper cable car terminal and the central square, are packed with tourists during the summer seasons. The view from Fira is magnificent, with a nice panoramic view of the 18 km long caldera from southern Cape Akrotiri to northern Cape Ag. Nikolaos, plus the volcanic island Nea Kameni at the center with Thirassia Island in the distant west on blueAegean water. Big cruise ships can usually be seen anchoring in the small harbor between Nea Kameni and Fira.
