About the host
Hosted by Amanda Richards
Since we bought Mountain Spirit, we have put love and attention into the property, and are still continuing with our dream, providing a special place, minutes from Wanaka, for guests to come and relax. We are raising our 10-yr old son here, which is a perfect place for a child to grow up. We love being here, growing veggies, teaching yoga and offering a sanctuary for guests to unplug, and digital detox from the everyday life pressures.
Why they chose this property
The Maori who lived here, called this the place of the Koru, the Hawk. It's a special place in its own microclimate, situated just below Mt. Grandview with views of the Upper Clutha, Mt. Roy, Lake Hawea and the Southern Alps. One feels held by the mountains just above us. We enjoy long sunsets and warm summers.
What makes this property unique
Our property is uniquely tucked in right below Mt. Grandview which offers privacy at the end of a dirt road with fantastic views and is a perfect spot to get away and offer a family retreat, with plenty of room for the kids to run around and enjoy the property. We have a tramp, swing hammock, playhouse, even a sandpit. We're renting our home out as well as the yurt which can be used as a yoga studio or extra sleepout. Then there's the Fantail cottage sleepout, with it's own porch kitchenette, and adjacent toilet/show block. We're only minutes from Wanaka, John Creek at Lake Hawea and a great mountain walk is just out the back door.
