I loved being so close to the beach! only a five minute walk!!! The neighborhood is very quiet and neighbors are very friendly. House is comfortable and we found it clean and ready for us.

We enjoyed our stay. Lowell is very attentive and quick to respond to any questions you may have.

Disappointed from the start ...Photos & description do not represent the Seahorse rental in Vero!

  • 1 of 5

Unfortunately , I have to say we were very disappointed from the start. I was very surprised at the initial appearance of the very unkempt, messy property/driveway as we drove in. Then as the garage door lifted everything was a shambles !

The house smelled musty, moldy and of airwick/febreeze everywhere. The tables were not wiped off. The dirt in the slider door trays is unacceptable, the sheets and bedspreads had stains , the old oily stained pillows with the old pillow cases were disgusting. The linen closet was a mess of bundled up torn stained sheets ,mostly polyester of yesteryear. The dingy, stained bath towels that were hanging on the towel racks were also unacceptable for guests. I would use them at my house as rags.

The kitchen cupboards are dirty , lined with mouse droppings, dirt and mold. The dishwasher was full, washed but the dishes were not totally cleaned. The floor, chairs and glass tables in the sun room had not been cleaned or tended to at all.The freezer had ice hanging from the shelves. The kitchen cupboards are old and smelly and need to be completely emptied , washed . There were airwick solids in the food cupboards !!!! The toilet seat in the master bathroom is scarred down to the wood. None of the faucets were cleaned they looked like the previous guest's toothpaste and soap was still clinging to the faucets. The sheer curtains are dry, brittle and stained , they do not look as if they have been cleaned in years, the drapes in the dining room are torn and not hanging on the curtain rods.. The vacuum is ancient and heavy and does not have any attachments so you cannot clean around the baseboards or in the tracks of the sliders.

The sun room has 13 windows but only 2 open ! The screens are ripped, need to be removed , cleaned and some replaced. All the cranks are unacceptable on all the windows in the house and sun room. They either do not work or the cranks are not there or the windows are stuck open so the windows cannot be cleaned. Only one ceiling fan works.

I can see the house was at one time kept up and very stylish but it is very apparent that the grounds, the windows/screens/sun room, wall-to wall carpeting and kitchen has been let go for many years. The house is very dated which would not be that bad if it was bright and clean for the dollar amount of the rental.

The landlord did reply, there was no extra refund for cleaning only words of DENIAL & SURPRISE, for our monthly rental issues ,we were very disappointed!

Vacation and visit with family in area.

  • 3 of 5

The property was not what I expected in that it was not very well maintained or cleaned. The tree across driveway needed to be trimmed, and there was a tree growing across the gate to the outside shower so it was not very easy to access. The house was very dusty and not very well cleaned. The kitchen was the worst area. There were dishes In the dishwasher that were not very clean. The contents of the cabinets were not organized at all, and we had a hard time trying to find things.

The beach was beautiful and the access to the beach was very nice and close to the house. The owner is very friendly and gave me a lot of useful information before I arrived at the property. He called to make sure we had arrived safely, and although the cell service was not very good he left a voicemail for me. I have already spoken with the owner to alert him to some of the problems with the property. Being and absentee owner is very difficult because they have to rely on others to do the work they are contracted to do. I did not complain to the owner during our stay I just cleaned the house and left it in good shape when we departed. I have no doubt that if I had called the owner he would have addressed every problem while I was there. I would recommend this property to any family that wants a place close to the beach. The directions the owner gave to the property was exact and had no problem finding the house. All in all was a good vacation.

Quaint comfortable beach getaway

  • 5 of 5

Quaint home located a short walk to the beach. My family of 5 found the home very comfortable for our week vacation to visit my nearby family. We also found the house large enough for entertaining my visiting family(12 total). The house is very quiet and comfortable and only a few minute walk to the beach down a peaceful path with no roads to cross. The owner Lowell was very considerate and responsive. Thank you for a great stay!

Great house, Beautiful beach!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our 2 young children really enjoyed our stay at the Sea Horse House and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a relaxing stay in Vero.

The location couldn't get much better being 3 houses in from the beach with a beautiful tree covered private walkway leading you right to the sand. The house is well situated to entertain a larger group of people with 2 dining sets, a more formal living room, TV room, and the large Florida room. Out of curiosity, I counted the number of seats that people could make use of (not counting bedrooms) and the total count was just over 40.

I do think that the house could use a little updating and some minor fixes could go a long way in making it even more appealing (front screen door was ripped, some of the crank shutter windows didn't work and we couldn't get the blinds to go down to block out light for nap time) but I still thought it was a great value and would recommend it to others.

It also helped that Lowell was very accommodating and responsive to my initial inquiry which allowed us to lock up this last minute rental within 10 days of our stay. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Vero Beach is noted for wildlife viewing with the first National Wildlife Refuge being three miles away on the Indian River to preserve the Pelican and sea bird nesting areas. In Summer the house is in the middle of 17 miles of beaches used by loggerhead. Turtles (four feet across) for nesting. Last year 2000 nest in area. Disney Victorian Seaside resort 5 miles away miles for dinners as well as four star Ocean Grill or casual Driftwood Inn for excellent dining. Golfing and public tennis courts are only exceeded by a world class art museum and theater on Island.
