Property description

Location: Conveniently located just off of Hyde Park Road less than 2 miles from the Plaza, this five bedroom, three bathroom home is tastefully furnished with carefully collected art and antiques. The homeowners lived overseas and travelled extensively for years, so this home is furnished with furniture and art from North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa.

There is a beautiful walk to the nearby Ft. Marcy park and then on to the plaza in just 10-15 minutes (or just hop in your car and be there in 5 minutes). The home has picturesque views of the hillsides as well as the spectacular New Mexican sunrise.

The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom. The beds are of premium quality with three king size and four twin bed. In addition, there is a double sleeper sofa in the downstairs den, an extra twin bed, 3 twin rollaway beds and a twin air mattress. All additional sleeping options need to be arranged in advance as they are in storage along with linens and pillows. Each bedroom suite is complete with seating and alarm clocks/radios.

Kitchen: The cozy furnished kitchen adjoins the living area, perfect for relaxing and entertaining, with service for up to 12 people. There is virtually every imaginable appliance and serving dish and stemware that we utilize when entertaining.

Living: Bright and cheery, there is light radiating from windows in the living room and kitchen. There are 10 foot tall ceilings with a beautiful wooden beamed ceiling. There is a generous full length balcony along the living room and back of the house with large full view windows overlooking an arroyo, with great mountain views. Warm up to the corner fireplace in the living room.

This beautiful home has approximately 3,300 square feet of luxurious living space for your vacation enjoyment. There is maid service throughout the year to maintain the property to the highest of standards.

The main floor (upstairs) has a cozy kitchen, open dining and living room area with a corner fireplace. The dining table seats 8 people and an additional table/chairs are available if arranged in advance for larger parties. You can walk out french doors onto the upstairs balcony to enjoy the hillside views. The entire main floor has new Saltillo tile floors and high-quality rugs. The master bedroom/ensuite is upstairs along with a guest bedroom/study and another full bath. The laundry room is tucked away in a corner on the main floor. There is a large flat-screen TV and blu-ray DVD player in the study.

The downstairs wing has a Saltillo-tiled den, 3 carpeted bedrooms and a full bathroom. There is a large flat-screen TV and blu-ray DVD player in the den. Here you will find a dining table that seats 8 people as well as 3 additional tables with seating for 6 more people. This is a great place to enjoy coffee while you watch the sun rise or, perhaps, a glass of wine to wind down at the end of the day.

NOTES:

• This home is in a quiet, family neighborhood. If you are looking for a party house, this is not the best home to meet your needs. It is perfect, though, for family reunions and group gatherings. There is space for everyone and it is conveniently located close to the Plaza.

• The home has an exposed staircase that is steep and tiled. Therefore, this house is not well-suited to a family with babies or toddlers. Some elderly people may have difficulty with the stairs, as well, but there are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the upper level to accommodate them safely.

- Minimum age to rent this property is 25 years old.

- This property has wireless internet (Comcast Xfinity Blast 105 Mbps / 10 Mbps) so that you can keep in touch with the outside world while you try to detach/relax in Santa Fe.

- Housekeeping and linens are provided for 10 people. There will be an additional charge of $20 per person per night above the original 10 people for larger groups. The full list of guests will need to be provided to the home owners at the time of the rental request. If additional rollaway beds/linens and towels are required, they must be requested in advance.

- Cancellation policy is as follows:

If a request to cancel is submitted in writing or over the phone 61 days or more prior to arrival date, a cancellation fee of 10% of the total rental, including all taxes and fees, plus a $75 service fee will be forfeited. The remaining balance of your deposit will be credited to your credit card.

If a request to cancel is submitted in writing or over the phone 60 days to 31 days prior to arrival date, a cancellation fee of 50% of the total rental, including all taxes and fees, plus a $75 service fee will be forfeited. The remaining balance of your deposit will be credited to your credit card.

If a request to cancel is submitted in writing or over the phone 30 days or less prior to arrival date, the full rental amount, including all taxes and fees, will be forfeited.

Facts about Santa Fe:

With a population of 70,000, Santa Fe, which means Holy Faith in Spanish, is New Mexico’s capital as well as the fourth largest city. It is situated at 7,000 feet in the Sangre de Cristo foothills. It’s renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture, and as a creative arts hotbed. Santa Fe is home to over 250 galleries in a two square mile area.

Founded as a Spanish colony in 1610, it has at its heart the traditional Plaza. The surrounding historic district’s crooked streets wind past adobe landmarks like the Palace of the Governors, now home to the New Mexico History Museum. Today, Santa Fe’s unique offerings of art, culture and ancient traditions make it a world-class destination, drawing more than 1 million visitors each year. Santa Fe hosts 40 festivals and fiestas per year.

In 2005, Santa Fe became the first U. S. city to be chosen by UNESCO as a Creative City, one of only nine cities in the world to hold this designation. This creativity is at the heart of the community and is a core value for most local businesses.

The climate in Santa Fe is fantastic. With an average of 325 sunny days each year, Santa Fe has four distinct seasons, each enjoyable in its own way. High in the desert mountains of the southwest, Santa Fe boasts low humidity and pleasant, warm summer days with refreshingly cool summer nights. Winters are beautiful with snow storms punctuated by sunny days. The colors of fall are bright with blooming chamisa and asters, yellow aspens and sweet, crisp air. In spring, the fruit trees bloom and daffodils, tulips and forsythia sprout all over town.

With low humidity, it’s always comfortable to walk around town or to hike the trails close by. Average high temperatures go from 44 degrees in January to 86 degrees in July. Lows vary from 15 in January to 54 in June.

About John & Paige

We were expats living overseas for over 8 years in Japan, South Korea and England. We loved to travel any chance we got and we collected interesting furniture, art and artifacts during our travels and have been able to use them in this fabulous house.

We now live in Texas but we come to Santa Fe as often as possible to rest, relax and recuperate.

John & Paige purchased this house in 2015

Why John & Paige chose North Hills

We spent many a vacation in Santa Fe - hiking, skiing, whitewater rafting, riding horses, shopping and attending musical events. We have always loved our times in Santa Fe and the memories stayed with us. When it came time to choose a vacation home, we immediately chose Santa Fe to start our search.

What makes this house unique

This home had the perfect size, perfect location and perfect 'feel' for our family. It is on 1.15 acres with hillside views, less than 2 miles to the Plaza, hiking trails are less than 2 miles away and snowskiing/snowboarding is only 13 miles away.

It was carefully renovated over the last year and now we just love it. The layout is awesome - main floor (upstairs) has 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths along with a living room, dining room, kitchen and utility room. You can walk out onto the balcony to enjoy the sunrise views. The downstairs has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom along with another living area. There are 2 doors that lead outside to the flagstone patio with a dining table that seats 8 as well as additional seating and tables to accommodate 6 more people.

This floorplan is great when the kids bring friends or another family joins us for vacation - everybody has their own space.

Great time in Santa Fe

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time . The location was perfect for what we did, easy to shop and to run to the ski lodge . Wish there was more snow but we had a great time

Wish that there was a commode in the down stairs bedroom with the sink by the stairs, 7 people with one commode downstairs was tight.

We all had a great time , the house was very nice clean and well kept and was a lot of fun,

would certainly come back.

The owners had everything thought out through out the house so it was easy to find items and the directions when we left were also easy to follow.

Great House....

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review, Phil, and we are so glad that you enjoyed Christmas in our home in Santa Fe (even without snow). We work to ensure that it is guest-ready and stocked full of all the things that make your stay just a little better. We understand your comments about an additional commode downstairs but adding a 4th bathroom just isn't in the budget for now. Thanks again and we look forward to hosting you and your family during your next family vacation in Santa Fe!
