Vacation home is spacious, and located right on Meeting House pond. It sits atop a hill and the view of marina is spectacular. The house itself is very dark and rooms are spread out such that my niece didn't want to stay with us because the house felt "spooky". She didn't want to be downstairs or in small room off kitchen. One of my sons slept at his cousin's place because his allergies were bothering him (mold?).
The 1940s or 1950s home is tastefully decorated with antiques, and original bathroom floor and fixtures, but the mildew smell that greets you at the front door stays with you all week. The kitchen was hard to use - way too many dishes piled into a cupboard, and nothing in pantry but salt, pepper, and someone's old can of icing. I have rented many homes in this area, and was surprised that there were no spices or basics like olive oil. I usually do a lot of cooking, but didn't feel at home in this kitchen. Many of the dishes needed to be washed before we could use them - it was like someone had rinsed them, but not scrubbed them clean. The appliances were clean and functional though.
The house is within a short walk to a market, a pizza place, and Sundae School ice-cream. The house is about two miles from Nausset beach and traffic is very heavy (not safe for kids to bike).
Overall, we have stayed at newer, nicer places for a lot less. I understand that being on the water is a big plus, but in my opinion this home is overpriced and I am sorry to say we would not opt to stay here again.
