Mountain Air is a beautiful community in the Appalachian Mountains. This property is a fire safety hazard. All windows are jammed or painted shut. By law, windows must operate in bedrooms if the window serves as a second egress. This issue was brought to the host's attention. Their response was rather trite: "no other renter has ever had this issue." There was zero customer service. The host is rude and unwilling to work with their renters. The unit has no window treatments on the living room sliding door that egresses to the deck. There is zero privacy in the main area, including the kitchen. As well, there is no screen on the sliding glass door, and of course, no windows operate. You must enjoy the air-conditioned environment versus the fresh mountain air. The unit has been updated, including the flooring and woodwork. However, it is sparsely appointed, with no furniture in the bedrooms other than a nightstand. Appliances are low quality and very loud when operating, including the dishwasher, washer, and dryer.

Owner's response: "Michael, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. - During your stay we did correspond regarding the window issue, I advised that we keep the windows closed because of the lack of a few screens so that you do not have an issue with flies. The windows in the unit do work we just prefer them closed. This is a no-win situation because one guest will prefer window air and the next will prefer AC. The safety of all our guests is always first and foremost we would never put our guests in harm's way. - All of the windows have shades that can be pulled down except for the patio door, and we have never had any complaints about this until now. - All of the appliances are brand new and top-of-the-line.We look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests. We will continue to deliver the 5-star experiences we know we can deliver."
The location is spectacular. We hiked every day plus used the gas fireplace to warm up! So cozy! The place is pretty sparse with supplies. No hairdryer, no spices but not plenty of cooking utensils and pots. If you absolutely need something, make sure you bring it.
