We had an absolutely incredible time at this Monson home. The location was perfect; very secluded with private access to kayak on the lake where we got to observe the natural wildlife of the area. There was great local hiking and the center of town is only a few minutes away. The home was exactly as listed and was stocked with kitchen supplies for our homecooked meals. It was the perfect space for our family/friend vacation and we hope to stay here again!

A very enjoyable stay. Very neat property, we Loved the kayaks, Loved the views, and had no problems cooking anything from breakfast to seafood boil. When I spoke to the owner, she was also very lovely. However, the basement heat was not working (we should have been told this when I spoke to her or before booking), and my friends were cold (they ended up coming up to sleep with us upstairs because they were so unhappy). Other than that, a wonderful stay.

I liked it so much I went back.. Hosts are easy to touch base with if needed - everything as described - you can hear some loons out on the pond. It's a peaceful spot near a bunch of worthwhile hiking.

Great camp in the woods away from town but close if you need to go

We had a great stay, we did take the “long way” around because of maps but once we realized there was a much nicer smoother way then we were happy it was out of town in the woods. So maybe a little clear what road to take because maps takes you on a wild goose hunt and rough way in.

An Incredible Week for our Family!

Our family will always remember the week we stayed in Monson at this beautiful property. Fishing, kayaking, swimming, grilling, relaxing; visiting and experiencing the Town of Monson, the Moosehead Lake region, and the surrounding areas. Three young children (4, 8, and 12), my parents 65, and our two dogs! More than enough space and more than enough to experience.We are grateful we found this spot! The host was responsive as needed, and even reached out the week before by phone to check on us and let us know all the great things we could access with our young family (and grandparents).Would recommend this for any and all families!

We had a great time at the Monson Getaway! The house has a ton of space, and has a very well stocked kitchen. Beds were as advertised and were very comfotable. We made good use of the Kayaks and life jackets that were provided. The pond is beautiful. At the house, you will be secluded. (During the week we were the only people on the pond!) Monson center, with the Monson general store is a 5 minute drive, and Greenville, which has a grocery store, as well a bunch of shops and restaurants, is about 15 minutes away. We enjoyed the Monson "house" of pizza, which is an actual house that sells pizza. It is located behind the Monson General Store and and makes a great pizza. Overall, we had a great time and would highly recomend a stay!

Maine Hunting trip

We totally enjoyed this home and will plan to return in the future. Sleeping arrangements for 6 men was not perfect... I would highly recommend this property for a family get away! The house and location are ideal for experiencing the big woods of Maine. Hunting trip was a huge success!

Great getaway

We loved staying here! It was absolutely beautiful, very well stocked and the property manager was phenomenal. The only thing that I would have changed was the stove, the burners would sometimes just stop producing heat but other than that, it was perfect!!

Beautiful Home for Nature Lovers

House was beautiful and super clean. It had everything we needed for our long weekend stay. The loons singing at night and the beautiful sunrise made this place so serene. The pond was beautiful! My boys enjoyed fishing with their dad and they even took a swim on our 85 degree Saturday. My daughters and I kept to the sunny deck for some Vitamin D therapy and played many games inside as we have never been this deep in the woods this time of year and the mosquitoes loved us just a little too much. 😊

Just as described. Worked well for a cozy winter getaway!

We took a few days here for a quiet Christmastime retreat -- Four adults and an energetic dog. Everything is just as described in the listing. We were comfortably able to cook and eat all our meals, relax with jigsaw puzzles and tv, and take a few outings to explore the lake and nearby hiking.The lakefront access is not landscaped/manicured, so it may be tricky for anyone with mobility issues. Not terrible though, and very interesting for a curious dog.The town seemed very nice and quiet, but we didn't explore much and mainly stayed in the house.

Rough start

We arrived and looked on the door for the “keyless entry”. None was found. Had to drive back into town to get cell service to call our property manage. She then explained that there is a lockbox on the back of a post that contained the house. We drove back to the place (on rutted road) and got in just fine. However, it was very cold with no instructions on how to turn up the heat. Made another call to property manager and she explained there was a remote that controlled both heat and air. There was nothing in the house that explained it. The main level did heat up fine after that, the basement never did. Some of the dishes were dirty. I wish there was a dishwasher. When we turned on the tv, there were flashing colored lights all around the screen that we could not turn off. The was a separate remote that controlled lights, I think, but I believe the button battery in that remote was dead.

Beautiful home, quiet and remote waterfront getaway

The property was clean and accurately represented in the listing. The water in the pond was very clean and pleasant for swimming. Lots of space for 6 people, well stocked with towels etc. and some very nice kayaks with paddles in good shape. The pond and neighborhood are very quiet. Fireflies all over & very dark skies for stargazing. I would say that the only two things I would have liked to have known in advance are 1) the internet is quite slow, zero cell svc, we did manage to stream Netflix just fine but live streaming is challenged (tried to watch the NBA draft, presidential debate, almost impossible). It’s really only good for one TV streaming at a time, and I drove to Dunkin 30 mins away to take a zoom meeting because I really don’t think the internet could have handled it. I would have thought twice about keeping my meeting if I’d known. It’s a remote area with DSL only, so anyone needing to work at all should know that. I managed. 2) the last mile of road to the house is kinda rough, dirt and gravel with potholes. I have an SUV and I did fine but 2 in my party have cars lower to the ground and it was tough on their cars. my husband ended up with a flat on his way home and I don’t fault the road necessarily for that, but make sure your tires are in good shape before making the trek…if they’re close to needing replacement, do it before your vacation. It’s remote, so much of this is to be expected, just be aware. :) The hosts were nice and available for ?s.
