Relax, you've discovered your secluded winter wonderland here at Idlehour.

Enjoy the peace and quiet at this beautiful cottage. Watch the birds and wildlife. Head to Hidden Valley for a ski or bring your sleds to cruise the gromed trails. Take a short drive to Huntsville, Dwight or Algonquin Park. Arrowhead Park has incredible skating.

Have a fire upstairs(wood provided) snuggle, watch a movie, do a puzzle or play some board games. Internet, Satellite TV and BBQ provided with propane.

3 bedrooms with Queen beds. Basement has a propane insert, darts and is the perfect place for the kids to play games and watch movies. 2 single beds downstairs. Kitchen is fully equiped with new counters.

All beds have mattress and pillow protectors, sheets and towels are not provided.

We were very pleased with our cottage rental. Peninsula Lake is scenic and historic. The cottage is roomy, well maintained, very clean, comfortable. Has everything you need. We loved the viewpoint from the deck, dock and from the interior large windows. The road to the cottage is quiet and there is lots of privacy. Booked it for 2027!

We loved everything about this cottage! It was perfectly clean on arrival and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. The living area is spacious and there are board games there for a rainy day! It’s on a very quiet road and the waterfront is well suited for small children. The dock was perfect for our 19 ft boat and there are lots of other water toys provided. The lake itself is beautiful and there’s lots to do in the area. Steve communicated clearly with us right from the start. He was prompt answering questions, gave us good directions and helped make the checkin process easy. We love Idlehour and my adult kids are bugging us for a return next year!

Just spent a few days at Idlehour and it was a wonderful cottage experience. Steve was quick to answer my list of questions and made it clear he was available at any time for more. Check in/check out was smooth. I definitely overpacked because the owners have thought of everything - books/games/puzzles, a clothesline, lots of kindling/firewood, and a FULLY stocked kitchen including basic spices, sugar and teas. There is ample seating inside and out, great swimming/paddleboarding (you must do it at sunset!) and a beautiful dock to view the skies - and the loon that seemed to make an appearance every evening. Loved being close enough to Algonquin Park to fit in a hike. Great cottage - the photos online don’t do it justice. Hope to go again!

Great spot for the whole family. Views of the lake by the cozy fire meant we were never sad when the weather wasn't behaving. One of the most responsive hosts I have ever dealt with.

This was my second visit to Idlehour, and the property has only gotten better. I cannot stress enough just how good a deal this property is, so much space and a very nice and thoughtful host to top it off.Stop looking at other properties in the area, you're not gonna find a better place and host than this in the entire region!

Thank you Chris, it is the perfect time of year for peace and quiet. The fresh snow is beautiful in the tree's and perfect for a nice walk, cross country ski or skate on the ice. It's so nice to sit in front of the cozy fire and play board games, chess, do a puzzle or just relax with your family and friends.

Our stay was so serene and peaceful. Idle house has a beautiful view of the lake and there were lots of areas to sit outside. We loved the dock and screened in patio. We saw butterflies, ducks and deer. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils, and there was a good selection of basics (oil, spices) that helped. It was very quiet (which was great for us) and close to town. The bedrooms were comfortable, we brought our own sheets/towels but the quilts are provided. There was a small beach just a quick walk down the road, but it was also easy to walk into the water beside the dock. The dock was lovely, and the sun hit early in the morning and later in the afternoon, which is perfect for hot days. Steve was very responsive and gave excellent directions to find the Idle house, and was very inclined to ensure we enjoyed our stay!

The view is incredible. The cottage is charming, especially when the wood fireplace is roaring. There were lots of games to play, the kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and pots and pans. Steve was great to communicate with. Bring hand towels and as well as bath towels.

The property was amazing, and Steve was extremely friendly, organized, and helpful. The cottage was clean, and had lovely spaces and views. The view of the lake was gorgeous.

Wonderful spring stay

We had a great stay, and will definitely be back. The cottage is in a beautiful location, is large and comfortable with two fireplaces, and it is close to hiking, towns, restaurants, and anything else you could want.

This lovely property sits in the perfect spot close to Huntsville and close to the West entrance of Algonquin park. Everything was in good repair, the beds comfortable, and the setting in the forest with an easy walk down a few steps to the private dock was just right. Very enjoyable.
