Weekend Getaway

We had a great weekend in Manistee. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee and playing cards in the evenings at the table in the sunroom.

Great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay in Manistee. This property is close enough to downtown and the beach that both destinations are walkable, and the property itself was warm and inviting with lots of amenities! On top of the amenities listed, there was a large dog kennel available for use and there were so many pots, pans, dishes and other kitchen items that we weren’t expecting. The home is well kept and was an awesome home away from home for anyone hoping to getaway for a bit to Manistee.

The host was very responsive to questions and concerns - very friendly and helpful. The house was in an excellent location - you could walk to town or to the 5th street beach. We even walked to a farmer's market nearby. There were lots of cooking pots and baking pans (too hot to bake while we were there but would be nice in the Fall or Winter). Also had a modern clothes washer and dryer which was a plus. For an older home (build after World War II) it was in decent condition but needed a deep clean in the basement (cobwebs and bugs) and in hard to reach places (behind the bathroom barn door - lots of dust. The basement was musty so the host set up a large dehumidifier which helped tremendously. It would be best if there was a dehumidifier running down there routinely. There was a heat wave when we were there the first week and the air-conditioning in the dining room quit working. There is another one in the master bedroom but it is very noisy. We called and they had someone come out right away to service it even though it was a weekend, if I recall properly.Great outdoor patio and dining set up with a TV (didn't try it out while we were there). Also a nice, large yard with lots of parking and an area to leash a dog (which we had with us). All in all despite the few hiccups we had a pleasant stay.

Great place!

We were there for Manistee's 4th of July events and the location cannot be beat--walking distance to beach and downtown. Watched the fireworks from just up the street, walked over to the parade. Place itself was sparkly clean and well equipped with strong wifi, all sorts of kitchen things, gas grill, good A/C, washer & dryer. We watched world cup soccer games on the outdoor TV on the patio. Lots of parking: two driveways plus street parking is available. The yard was huge and very well maintained; our grandchildren were staying nearby and it became the gathering place for whiffle ball and volleyball, etc. Cannot say enough about the responsiveness of the owners: David & Cheryl. We had a significant house maintenance issue (one of those unpredictable things than can happen in any home) on Sunday July 5th, perhaps the busiest holiday weekend of the year for Manistee. David was all over it, came to the house personally, got the right maintenance guy on-site with an hour, and problem was fixed perfectly that day. We have rented different places in the USA and internationally for years and this was by far the quickest response to an issue I've ever experienced. A comment on occupancy. You can fit six in there but it is optimal for four. Overall, this place is a gem; I give it my highest recommendation for location, cleanliness, and owner responsiveness.

Nice neighborhood, pleasant for 2

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything is well appointed, bathroom has been upgraded and has a great shower, King sized bed is comfortable.Enjoyed having a Keurig. Sitting outside on back patio was pleasant, spacious yard gave a sense of privacy for being right in a neighborhood. This house does not have central heat and air. We were there late spring, so just needed to run one of the portable heaters and we were fine. Cannot attest to needing the A/C units when it warms up Enjoyed being able to walk to the nearby park, and 5th Ave beach is a leisurely 15 minute stroll. There were only 2 of us, and this was perfect size for us. Would stay again.

6/10 Okay

Fair experience

The house was nice, but we were promised rooms in the basement and the basement had a very heavily musty smell. We were unable to use the basement because of that. Bathroom bathroom upstairs also had a heavy musty smell. The fan was broken, but they fix it while we were there. That might’ve been part of the problem with the musty smell. Because the bathroom smells so musty one of the bedrooms did too. In fairness, our host told us that it had rained a lot previously. Manistee was small so we spent most of our time in Ludington, which was only half an hour away.
