Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature at the Birch Cottage. This beautiful 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom sleeps 4 and cottage sits on the South Bay of historic Little St. Germain Lake. It comes with a private pier and row boat . The lake frontage is sandy and great for swimming!
The Birch cottage offers a stunning western view to take in the amazing sunsets! Sit on the deck and take it all in!
The cabin was built in the 1950's and still hosts the original hardwood floors and knotty pine walls and ceilings.

The cottage offers an open concept living/dining room and kitchen that overlooks the South bay of Little Saint Germain Lake. Both of the bedrooms have full beds .The living room offers sleeping accommodations with a full-sized futon sleeper sofa.

On Little St. Germain Lake, fishing for the mighty musky is a challenge to the best of the fishermen. Once you tie into one you are hooked for good. The lake also abounds with walleye, small and largemouth bass, northern, bluegill, crappies and perch. RESERVE THIS BEAUTIFUL RUSTIC CABIN AT STEPAWAY VACATION RENTALS!

This property was as advertised on VRBO! The interior was clean and brought that true up-north feeling to our vacation! The property and Lake frontage was wonderful! Like all up-north cabins , there were a few quirky amenities, which only add to the cabin experience! Overall an excellent time on our vacation!!

Great Getaway

Wonderful cozy rustic cabin in a quiet spot. Reminds me of resorts we went to as kids but with air conditioning? Sandy shoreline was great for swimming. Abundant bluegills. Great place and would definitely stay again.

Overall, not too bad. Occasionally there was a horrible raw sewage smell from the kitchen, but since we spent most of our time outside, it didn't affect us too much. The cabin is quite small, but the view of the lake is lovely. Only thing better would be an option to rent a motor for the boat.

Little St Germain is a beautiful lake and the South Bay, which is what the cabin is on, was perfect for our swimming needs. We would have loved a little more pier space to lie/lounge on! It’s a truly lovely place that we most definitely will be returning to.

Wet Kitchen Floor

Every day we had to wipe water off the floor in the kitchen. It came from the area between the refrigerator and the stove.

Just an ok stay

The location on the lake was beautiful! We caught a lot of fish right off the dock. The cabin itself was a letdown. It was very tight for a family of 4. The kitchen is super small and almost impossible to cook a meal in it and serve. The floor is slanted so we had to watch our step. There were a lot of ants throughout. The cabins are very close! We could see in the neighbors bathroom from the kitchen. There is no privacy outside. You can hear the neighbors conversations and dogs barking. The fire pit is a tiny metal pit, could not cook on it. The worst part was the raw sewage smell outside. It made it almost unbearable to sit outside if the wind was right. The 9am checkout is a little early. We had to wake up very early to get the car packed and clean up. The area is great and there is a lot to do but with a family the cabin was disappointing.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: While the cabin itself was nice and the view was great, there were a few significant issues. The interior of the cabin was infested with ants, especially the kitchen and bathroom despite the presence of ant traps and us adding even more. My wife was awakened one night with ants crawling on her. There was also a pervasive odor of raw sewage from the outside that penetrated inside the cabin. As bad as these things were, the worst thing was discovering that the water reservoir on the coffee maker was caked in mildew after we had already drank a few pots of bad tasting coffee. There’s also additional maintenance issues in the bathroom.
