We are very sorry that our condo was not what you were looking for. If you had shared your concerns about bugs, carpet stains and closet space with our property manager when you arrived at the condo, she would have been happy to help by sending someone over to address them. Our white carpets are 3 years old and steam cleaned quarterly, but are easily stained between steam cleans (which require 2 days, one to clean, one to dry, between guests) if guests forget the rules and leave the doors or windows open to the dusty trade winds. And although our resort, like all on Maui, has regular spraying for "pests", fall is the time of year when, every few years, tiny bugs proliferate along the beaches and manage to get into everyone's homes through the minuscule window screen openings. I'm sure the cleaners removed any insects that had gotten in by the time they cleaned, but having any of the windows open even a crack will allow them to gain entry. Our cleaners do have access to a home shampooer and would have been happy to run it for you, as well as vacuum again, which would have left the areas near the windows bug free for at least a little while. As far as space for food goes, there is one entire corner cabinet that is normally available for guests' purchased food, but it sounds like perhaps the cleaning staff may have left condiments etc from prior guests for your convenience. I will copy your review and forward it to our property manager and cleaning staff so that they are reminded to remove those items between guests. As many Maui vacation rental owners do, we prefer (and provide photos on VRBO of) a traditional Maui style for our island paradise, so even though our linens etc are replaced each year and we also reupholster and replace furniture regularly, we keep to "traditional island" decor for our Maui condo. We definitely don't aim for the minimalist postmodern look that is so ubiquitous elsewhere these days. Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. Aloha!

Thank you, Jim, we are so glad you had a great stay! We greatly appreciated your patience as the plumbers got everything figured out. We had been able to keep everything humming with just routine maintenance since resuming rentals after CoVID, but then all of a sudden we had a month when several issues came up suddenly, so regret that you were impacted. Everything is all in great repair once again, and I'm told that the beach out front is re-accumulating sand once again, after losing massive amounts to the huge New Zealand waves in mid-July. Thanks so much, Lisa, glad you had a great stay! Our beach is affected by storms, and had just been through the "New Zealand Wave" in mid- July. That event exceeded historic wave heights and flooded many beaches in south and west Maui and took sand out to sea. Luckily, the sand does come back! Glad we could find the portable ACs for you (they tend to run out on Maui) in time for your stay. Our permanent AC split system is quite young, so its shutdown was unexpected, but all the parts responsible have been replaced and the system is back to working very well.
