The Cotton Rooms

The Cotton Rooms is a superbly renovated and furnished apartment right in the heart of the popular Peak District town of Matlock, sleeping up to three people in two bedrooms. It provides perfect accommodation for couples, young families or single travellers wanting to stay in style and enjoy all that the Peak District has to offer.



The luxurious apartment tastefully mixes the characterful features of the old building with new and modern interior styling. Every detail is thought of with high quality cotton sheets and mattresses making for a cosy and relaxing stay. In the living room, the huge windows with wooden blinds allow light to stream in to the open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge areas. While Matlock offers many fantastic restaurants, The Cotton Rooms' kitchen is fully equipped to cook up a feast should guests prefer a night in.



The Cotton Rooms is right in the heart of the popular village of Matlock - there are numerous pubs, cafes and independently run shops in easy walking distance from the front door. Once famed for its hydro and spa treatments, Matlock's central location, scenic surroundings and public transport links make it a popular base for exploring the best of the Peak District and Derbyshire. The Cotton Rooms is therefore the perfect base for walkers with many circular walks starting and ending in the town.



Crown Square and the river Derwent lie at the heart of Matlock, and the gateway to award-winning Hall Leys Park with its boating lake, riverside walks, tennis courts and skateboard park. For a trip back in time, hop on a steam or diesel train operated by Peak Rail from Matlock to Rowsley, or head for nearby Crich Tramway Village and pay an old penny to ride on a vintage tram. Guests can alternatively head for the Heights of Abraham and take a cable car ride between spectacular limestone cliffs and wooded slopes for panoramic views of the Derwent Valley.

Take ear plugs

Clean apartment with a comfy bed and well equipped. Double or triple glazing and blackout curtains are a must, street traffic noise is horrendous even through the night.

Ready for a good clean.

Location Change the standard of maintenance. Needs a lot of repairs and cleaning. Show the cracks and stains on wall and carpets. The entrance is horrendous. Don't pretend the photos are true.

Great place to stay comfortable clean and cozy situated in the centre of Matlock and its lovey surrounding countryside. we enjoyed a lovely walk around Matlock and the lumsdale valley. easy walk to the train station where you can easily reach other places in the Derbyshire dales within half an hour

Really lovely stay. The flat itself was lovely - very nicely done. The street was very noisy - especially at the weekend until quite late. Could really do with some double glazing to help - especially in the bedroom. Other than this a perfect stay with everything I needed for the week.

Lovely apartment in the centre of Matlock

The apartment was very well equipped and was in an excellent location for all the amenities & attractions in Matlock. Very comfortable bed, very clean throughout, nice decor touches. The management company were very responsive in trying to solve the issue of the WiFi not working. The white wooden blinds are very pretty but this is a town centre location with street lighting right outside & a bridal shop opposite with a bright white frontage. As a result, the double bedroom (along with the rest of the apartment) was never dark. Proper blinds in the bedrooms would be better. The sensor light in the hallway which stays on for half an hour & can't be switched off is also a nuisance at night & unnecessary given the size of the space. Noise - due to the central location, there is a lot of traffic noise. The owners now provide earplugs which help. It does quiten down at night but as there are a lot of shops around, expect to be woken up early by deliveries if you don't wear them. The bar. I'm not sure what could be done to improve the impact from the bar opposite but it is certainly something to be aware of. I stayed for a week Friday to Friday. The first two nights were incredibly noisy, bordering on intolerable. I had the windows closed, fan on & TV much louder than I normally would. I could still clearly hear what song was playing. The noise quitened down around 1am. As I was staying for a week, I didn't overally mind two nights of it but given even with earplugs the traffic can wake you up from 5am, I can't recommend this accommodation for a weekend break. From Sunday through Thursday it is a very different experience & the noise from the bar is barely noticeable. I would stay again for a midweek break.

The apartment was comfortable and spotless and in an ideal location for all local areas. Only fault a little noisy at nighttime but that can be expected on a main road. Suggest you take earplugs.

Lovely apartment in a great location, everything we needed. Easy to park with the Rover pass around the back of the apartment. Very neat, clean, tidy and comfortable. Highly recommend a visit to the Viva Italian restaurant a few doors down.

Lovely cosy little flat, as described, and a nice area with plenty of options to eat and drink.

We agree with other reviews that say the bar across from us was quite noisy with music but we got used to it (and found it quite amusing!) and it didn’t go on too late into the night. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Totally relaxing stay in enchanting Matlock

Location, high quality furnishings with homely touches. The apartment had everything we needed, and more, for a wonderfully relaxing, luxurious break. Bathroom could have done with an extractor fan and the sensor light in the hall took some heating used to but these were absolutely MINOR complared to how much we loved the place.

The apartment was beautiful. Made us very comfortable. Everything you could possibly want was in the apartment. Excellent home furnishings and decor. Nice style. The location was excellent if you drove, as Matlock baths was 25 minutes walkrely on public transport. The property is situated on a main town road with heavy traffic.

The location, the decor, the communication was all superb! Easily found as the address was clearly given to us beforehand with details to retrieve the key. Council parking behind the place was great and very good value. Details were sent to us to get a permit but we didn't bother with this. Lovely bars and restaurants right outside the door. We absolutely loved it and will definitely book again.

A brilliant place to stay to explore the Derbyshire dales

Comfortable, spacious apartment, perfect for three people. Decor was modern and stylish. Although it was self-catering I had expected basics like salt & pepper. This is what is usually provided in properties like this and would be really helpful. The noise from the bar opposite was loud on the Saturday night but finished at a reasonable hour Otherwise the property was excellent.

Nice apartment but noise from bar across the road spoilt it.

We liked the apartment itself, it’s very nicely furnished. However there are blinds but no curtains. Blackout curtains are needed. The door needs some attention, as it looks like people have been slamming it to close. The wood post on the outside was loose. Unfortunately we had extremely heavy rain, which resulted in a leaking ceiling. We reported the leak and was told the owners would be contacted and see if maintenance was available. No one checked to see if we were ok. We really feel that for the price we paid, and it could have been handled better. We shouldn’t have to be worrying about it the whole time. Spoilt our stay.
