Purple Mountain Holiday Home is a modern holiday home close to Killarney town in County Kerry. This spacious holiday home is 7km outside the bustling town of Killarney on the scenic Ring of Kerry route.



From this modern pet-friendly holiday home, you will be spoiled with the selection of walks. There are numerous trails and country lanes you can explore with your beloved dog on your next Irish holiday in Killarney. Explore Gap Road located 400m away, from here you can easily reach Kate Kearney's Cottage, MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and the famous Gap of Dunloe.



Purple Mountain Holiday Home Description – Sleeps 8

Purple Mountain Holiday Home is beautifully furnished with lots of modern conveniences like underfloor heating from the natural air to water heating system. This large holiday home is bright and spacious, a great base for a family or group holiday in Killarney. This coastal holiday home has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8 guests comfortably:



Property layout – Ground floor:

- Open plan modern kitchen

- Dining room

- Living area with Freeview TV and DVD player

- Utility room providing extra storage

- Bedroom 1: king-size ensuite with shower, sleeping 2

- Bedroom 2: twin sleeping 2

Purple Mountain Holiday Home has a large lawned garden where you and your guests can relax and take in the pretty mountain views.

Wifi is available at the property, and towels are provided.



Pet Friendly Holiday Home

Purple Mountain Holiday Home is a pet-friendly holiday home and will accept 1 small dog upon request only. The neighbouring fields that surround this holiday home have farm animals grazing, therefore when outside you must keep your furry friend leaded. Please reserve your pet at the time of booking via our call centre, as your pet will not be accepted without prior confirmation.



Wheelchair Friendly Holiday Accommodation

Purple Mountain Holiday Home has step-free access to the front door. The main bathroom includes a wet room shower with two doors. No grab bars are present in the shower or toilet area or the main bathroom. Interior doorways downstairs comply with 2019 building standards (as of 2019) for width, excluding the utility room and the ensuite toilet. The patio area to the back of the house is accessed via a step from the back door. We want to ensure that you and your guests have a memorable and relaxing holiday at Purple Mountain Holiday Home. Therefore, before making an online booking, please contact the call centre to discuss the exact layout of this holiday accommodation to ensure it meets your needs.



Local Area & Tourist Attractions

Purple Mountain Holiday Home is located just outside the little village of Fossa, which has a shop and a popular local pub called the Golden Nugget. Another village 3km away is the pretty hamlet of Beaufort, which lies on the banks of the River Laune. This village consists of a post office, a few quaint pubs, a supermarket and a parish hall. Beaufort sits at the foot of Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil, making Purple Mountain Holiday Home a wonderful base for a walking holiday in Kerry.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Heating and Electricity:

This is an extra charge which is mostly payable to the Property Manager/Owner. In some cases, energy is charged at a fixed daily rate or a rate per unit on the units consumed, or you are required to top up a Pre-Paid Meter, while in others, energy charges are included in the rate you have paid. We advise you to check with the local Owner/ Property Manager before arrival, how this is calculated or before making the booking.



2. Security Deposit:

A minimum refundable security deposit of €200 (per property) must be paid before check-in to your holiday home to the local Property Manager/ Owner. This is either taken over the phone by pre-authorising your credit card when you call the Property Manager to arrange your arrival time 48 hours in advance of arrival, or at other times it is taken on arrival by cash. In some locations and at certain times of year, this can increase to €500 per property.

Purple mountain lodge a fabulous place to stay

The location of the house is perfect for families with just a short drive to the town centre and all the local amenities. The house is probably the best rental accommodation we have ever stayed in with ever modern convenience that a family could both want and need. Spotlessly clean and a beautiful and very much appreciated welcome pack, also a lovely letter from the owner John telling us a little bit about the history of the house and the fact that it is his childhood family home made it a little bit more special to stay in knowing that he takes great pride in the house. Overall I give the house a 11 out of 10 form location, cleanliness and a homely feel, I have already recommended it to friends and family as a great place to stay and will definitely stay there again in the future. Lovely home in close proximity to everything!

The house is spacious and bright with everything you need including washing machine and dishwasher. The proximity to Killarney town and surrounding areas was excellent.

A very comfortable holiday house

We liked the house: it was clean, large, had a good kitchen. Contact with John was quick and professional. But the pictures imply the house is in the middle of nature which is not the case. It’s directly to a busy road with houses left and right. You hear cars passing by day and night. We slept with open windows and wore ear plugs. We felt misled when we arrived and couldn’t believe this was the right spot. Make clear the house next to a busy street.

Stayed here for the last three nights (July ‘26) of our Ireland road trip and was great for our final base. The house was spacious, very comfortable and clean with a well equipped large kitchen and was relaxing to stay in. Off road parking with plenty of space for the car. Local shop in village was very well stocked, and max 5 min walk.It was a great location for easy and close access to Glendalough and the Wicklow mountains / Wicklow Gap. Also great to get train into Dublin for a day trip. Train journey approx 1.5 hours and was about 15 minute walk to local train station in Rathdrum. No WiFi, however mobile coverage very good and worked very well.We had one minor and simple query which the host responded to very quickly (minutes) and was very helpful. Really good home and glad we booked it.

Fantastic stay at Purple Mountain Holiday Home. So much to do in the local area and a wonderfully clean and equipped house to come back to. We stay as an extended family of seven and had ample space! It is definitely one of the best stocked kitchens we had seen in a holiday rental as well. Would definitely recommend in future. Thank you for having us.

Wonderful location to escape to...

Great house & garden. Location with easy access to so many great sites of interest.. we ran out of time and can't wait to go back again Nothing... I couldn't fault anything.. nice touch with fresh milk, bread etc on arrival..

When I started looking for a property to utilize for a men's golf trip, I knew what I wanted. Close to the town but a slight bit away from the hustle and bustle that Killarney is often known for. After seeing the spot on Purple Mountain, I knew which home we would use for our golf week.John, the host, created the perfect, 100% accurate description of the home that is on VRBO. Everything that he described was as stated. The home was spacious for four men, each getting their own bedroom and the common space downstairs was the ultimate gathering spot. All of the amenities were in perfect working order and the home was spotless when we entered.Without a doubt, we will choose Purple Mountain as our base in the Killarney area for years to come.

Beautiful holiday letting

Beautiful home in a perfect location for exploring the ring of Kerry. The house is comfortable & so well equipped, a home from home. John is a gentleman & a lovely host. I would highly recommend a stay in Purple Mountain. Only improvement I would make would be towel hooks or a rail in the upstairs bathroom.

Lovely House

Purple Mountain house is a spacious, recently renovated - to a high spec - house. The bedrooms are roomy with very comfortable beds and bathrooms are big too. The kitchen is has all new appliances and is very well stocked with plenty of crockery, pots and pans etc. Welcome pack of milk, bread etc. was much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Such a lovely week

Great house, well maintained. Lovely welcome with some bread and other things. What I liked as well was that the cupboard was full of staples such as flour, olive oil and herbs for cooking, saved us from buying it all. All in all a really lovely week! Nothing

A very modern house in a great location.

Great location, close to Killarney town, The property was in excellent condition, well decorated & with a nice array of modern appliances. The under floor heating was a plus on the chilly evenings. Also, the gift basket of wine and chocolate was most, welcome, along with the essential grocerie of milk & bread. All Good.

Very satisfactory week at

Tricky to identify entrance when driving. Road works didn't help. Otherwise excellent. Double bed upstairs was very very low. Include a shower chair for wheelchair users.

Absolutely fantastic family time in a great house

We couldn’t fault the accommodation at all plenty of room for 6 adults a 2 &1/2 year old and a dog. The garden was a great space. There was plenty to do on your door step driving is a must although buses are very reliable. John was a fantastic host not that we needed to bother him but always knew he was on the end of the phone. We will definitely be booking again. The house has been beautifully renovated and everything you need is there.

A wonderful stay!

We loved our stay in this cozy and modern house! It is exceptionally well-equipped with all the amenities necessary for a comfortable and hassle-free stay, including a fantastic kitchen and a convenient laundry room. It was clean, spacious, and peaceful. The Wi-Fi was fast and great for work obligations. The location is great for day trips all around Kerry, Killarney NP, and the Dingle Peninsula, with the Gap of Dunloe being a 10-minute drive away...just really a perfect location. The host, John, was responsive, kind, professional, and friendly. The booking with Trident was fast and easy. I highly recommend this house!

3rd year staying

We absolutely love purple mountain holiday home it’s a great location for us, very clean everything provided in the price so no surprises, John the home owner is fantastic just at the end of the phone should you ever need him not that we do. The house if fully equipped with everything you need should you want to cook. Not that we did much as Killarney town was just a short 10 min drive or taxi in with everything you need from breakfast to dinner or just coffee or live music and drinks. Maybe a coat rack in the hall but a very minor detail.

Enjoyable two week visit to Killarney.

Great house/home, facilities and service were excellent. Minor problems were dealt with immediately. Superb access to local walks and tourist areas. Minor quibbles only. I would have liked there to be a secure area outside for our dog, for occasional use. A coat rack or a set of coat hooks would have been useful in the hall.

Fantastic modern holiday

Spotless, modern A rated holiday home. Fantastic location just outside Killarney. Only if I am being uber pedantic...appliance filters should be part of the owners maintenance regimes. For example, Hoover's, dryers and dish washers. The dryer in the house wasn't really working, I took out the filter and removed a huge amount of fluff all working fine now. This is the same for most holiday homes I have stayed in and I get it turn around times between guests are short. But just thought I'd mention it as it would prolong the lifetime of such appliances for the owners. Otherwise there was nothing to improve on it was a fantastic stay.

A beautiful home

The house was modernly furnished and well-equipped especially the kitchen. There was a large-sized outdoor area where the kids had ample space to run around and our little one got to practice her gymnastics on the lawn! We often saw sheep grazing in the field behind the back yard, which added to the tranquility of the place. The location couldn't have been better. It was a quiet area yet very close to amenities and Kilarney National Park. Clear instructions were given not only prior to check in but also around the house e.g on how to operate appliances and waste separation. A file was also available with salient information about the area like places of interest in Kerry and recommended restaurants. The house was very family friendly with a few board games available. John, our host was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout. There really isn't anything we could criticise about the place. If we had to suggest anything, perhaps having a coat hanger as you enter would have been practical.

Beautiful, clean home! Such a convenient and picturesque location. It is on a main road, but that just made it more convenient to run into Killarney or Killgorglin. John was very helpful and it was great to have a few staples in the kitchen when we got there! Eggs, milk, sweets.. He was very informative about weather, letting us know a storm was coming. I loved having 3 bathrooms, since there were 4 of us. A lovely stay!
