Lovely cottage

The booking process was straightforward and correspondence clear. The owners were very helpful and the cottage is as described, very comfortable and well equipped. Perfect location for a visit to Stroud, quiet area with walks along the canal, yet close to the town centre. Lovely area for walks and viewing points at Roborough Common and Standish Woods. Would definitely stay again

Home from home

A beautifully presented cottage within walking distance of Stroud centre, minutes from the delightful canal path. We have just returned from our second visit and it really does feel like home. It’s an extremely comfortable cottage with everything you could wish for, including private off road secure parking for 2 or 3 cars. The hosts obviously put a lot of love and care into the cottage and make it very welcoming.

A great short stay with family

The cottage is very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. We particularly appreciated the milk, tea, coffee and cake provided when we arrived at the cottage. The hosts were very welcoming and checked in with us which was reassuring if there had been a problem. Due to the weather and time of year we were unable to use the gardens but they would be lovely in good weather. If anything, the cottage was a little warm but that was partly due to the changeable weather as it was perfect temperature on another day!

Wonderful cottage

We enjoyed our stay in Rose Cottage immensely. It was a lovely place, well-equipped, beautifully decorated and as described. The size was perfect for our family of four and we enjoyed the novelty of an upside-down house. The owners, David and Heather, could not have been more helpful and we were grateful for their suggestions of local eateries and amenities. All in all, a fabulous week.

Delightful traditional cosy cotswold cottage

A very cosy beautifully renovated cottage in an excellent location within walking distance of Stroud centre with private off road parking. Well equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom both with underfloor heating. Stairs are steep and narrow with awkward turn at the top so not suitable for people with poor mobility. Owners very helpful and welcoming. We appreciated the homemade cake and the Christmas decorations. We look forward to our next stays in February and May.

Well equipped, super comfy cosy cottage

The four of us had a lovely Monday to Friday stay in Rose Tree Cottage. Very well equipped with comfy beds and plenty of space for everyone to chill out. The back garden is a real sun trap with views over the hills opposite. There are some nice things alks near by and just under an hour away you can visit Clarkson's Farm (if that's on your list!) and all the more famous beautiful Cotswold villages like Bibury, Stow on the Wold etc.

Cosy and comfortable cottage in Stroud

The cottage is as exactly described: cosy, spacious, in lovely condition with all amenities. it is very close to Stroud and also to public footpaths for walks with striking views of the area. We spent Xmas 2022 here (2 adults, 3 adult children) and we were 8 around the table for Christmas lunch. The hosts are very welcoming and easy to communicate with. We would definitely love to stay here again.

Lovely Cottage

Very well presented pretty cottage in a great location, easy walking along the canal into Stroud. Accomodation is very good, conservatory is a delight. Staircase is a little tricky especially for taller people. Easy parking - though a bolder number at the road entrance would help to locate the cottage.

A beautiful property, but outside of the town

Rose Tree Cottage is a lovely house with a beautiful garden. However, it is at the outskirts of the town, and although it is "within walking distance" of the pub, it is a walk along a very busy road. We missed out on the experience of being in one of the cute little Cotswold towns, which is what we had been hoping for. There was some awkwardness with the owners as well. They accused us of messing with the radiators (which we didn't do) and leaving the interior doors open (which we did, but which we were given no previous instructions to avoid). Incidentally, it was only because they came into the house when we were out that they knew the interior doors were open. They came into the house on more than one occasion both when we were there and when we were out, which made us uncomfortable.

Thank you Jennifer for your review of Rose Tree Cottage, Stroud. We were delighted to hear that you found the property to be lovely and that you enjoyed the beautiful garden. The property’s location is detailed within the property listing, and is within a 10-minute walk to a nearby pub. We are sorry to hear that you experienced some difficulty with the heating system during your stay. We appreciate that these systems can occasionally be a little complex to operate, and we were pleased that the property owner was able to assist you promptly and efficiently by visiting the property at your request. From your correspondence with them at the time, you appeared to be very happy with the assistance provided and you did not raise any further concerns. They were surprised to hear your feedback here and the implication that they had entered the property without your prior knowledge. We do hope that, overall, you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds and that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future.

Wonderful cosy cottage

The beautiful cottage is very comfortable, well thought out and cosy. It has been renovated to a high standard and has a well equipped kitchen and lovely bathrooms. The beds are comfy, there is lots of private garden space for sitting out and enjoying nature. The cottage is well located to go for walks up on the hills or along the tow path, visit country pubs or drive into Stroud. Communication with the managers was very quick and easy and we had a very generous welcome. It is our second Christmas there and we hope to have another one in the future.

Wished We Could Have Stayed Longer

We had a very relaxing and peaceful two nights at Rose Tree Cottage. It is beautifully decorated throughout and the hosts have provided all the amenities you could possibly want. We were delighted that they left a delicious lemon drizzle cake for us. We really could not have asked for anything more. The cottage is in an ideal location to explore Stroud and the Cotswolds and we had a lovely and challenging four hour walk through the fields and forests. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

What a cozy place - we loved everything!

"Charming and Cozy Cotswold Cottage – A Perfect Getaway!" We recently spent six nights at this delightful Cotswold cottage, and it was the perfect escape! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the warmth and character of the place. The cottage is beautifully decorated with a blend of traditional charm and modern comforts, making it feel both cozy and luxurious. The location was ideal – tucked away in a peaceful village, yet close enough to explore the nearby towns and stunning countryside walks. The cottage was well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen had all the essentials, and the bedrooms were cozy, with comfy beds and high-quality linens. The attention to detail, from the lemon cake on arrival to the thoughtful guidebook with local tips, really made us feel welcome. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing retreat in the heart of the Cotswolds. We hope to return again soon!

Pretty cottage close to Stroud

The cottage is pretty and quite spacious, historic but modernised in the bathrooms, kitchen and conservatory. It serves as a good base for exploring Stroud and the surrounding areas by car or foot. There is a bus which stops close to the cottage (although it's currently diverted some days due to road works). We had a couple of issues during our stay which were promptly resolved. Overall, the house is well equipped for a self catering stay. The only issue to mention would be the kitchen table which isn't very sturdy and could do with replacing (plus only has 4 chairs). I would return or recommend it to others.

Thank you for the lovely review and recommendation, Joanna. We’re pleased you enjoyed staying at Rose Tree Cottage and found the hosts to be helpful and responsive. The owners appreciate your feedback and will check the kitchen table thoroughly, however the table is a large solid oak gateleg table with two hinged leaves. The table is in good condition, however the usual care does need to be taken when the leaves are raised, thanks again for bringing this to our attention. There are 7 chairs in the cottage, 4 are always kept in the kitchen and unless the table is extended fully a 5th chair is not usually needed and would be in the way, especially if a highchair is required. It’s great to hear that you would happily return, we hope to see you again soon!

Relaxing place to stay!!

I had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful house, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by tasteful and comfortable furniture that made me feel right at home. The facilities in this house are top-notch, from the fully equipped kitchen to the spacious and inviting living areas. What truly stood out to me was the owner's exceptional politeness. They were not only accommodating but also genuinely caring, ensuring that my stay was as pleasant as possible. It's rare to find such a hospitable host. I can't recommend this house enough. If you're looking for a comfortable, well-furnished, and welcoming place to stay, this is the perfect choice. I left with nothing but positive memories and a deep appreciation for the owner's hospitality. Yours sincerely Leila

Lovely Cottage

Four of us spent a long weekend in this cottage as we were attending a friends wedding. It is very cute, you walk in to the kitchen which is fully equipped and lots of different utensils. Downstairs there is also a decent shower room. There is a lounge and conservatory on the first floor but we tended to congregate in the kitchen and the proximity of the kettle. The beds were very comfy and the main bathroom is fabulous too. There is a log fire in the kitchen but we did not use it as the house was warm, it might be cheaper to rent this cottage than to pay my energy bill. A very nice homemade cake was waiting for us upon arrival and a bottle of wine. The garden is well looked after and there is sufficient parking for at least 3 cars, probably more. We didn't explore much of the area but driving through the countryside looked lovely and we did a short walk along the canal which was good too. Comfy bed, decent shower and a cafetiere for coffee so it scores very highly for me.

An excellent base for relaxing and exploring

Rose cottage suited us well. The garden provided several different comfortable and private places in the good weather for reading or eating. The cottage itself had some very nice touches and clearly care had been taken to furnish it and make it homely and attractive. The kitchen had an excellent range and good equipment for providing meals when taken at home. Comfy beds and excellent showers set one up for the day. The only drawback was the kitchen on the ground floor and the sitting areas upstairs but this was clear in the description and didn’t alter what was a 5 star experience. Excellent bike storage was a bonus with bike rides that were not for wimps in the hills around! Lovely walking on nearby commons with a couple of excellent pubs within a short drive and Waitrose within walking distance. Exploring the wider pretty and more touristy towns such as Bourton in the water and Stow good for the odd trip as were local N T attractions. This was a last minute holiday when a driving trip to France fell through and we did not feel hard done by at all with a week at Rose cottage in what turned out to be lovely September weather.

A lovely cottage for a restful stay

Rose Tree Cottage had everything that we needed for our Cotswolds holiday - both our children said they'd love to live there. It was well equipped, with comfortable rooms and in a good location just outside Stroud - it's roughly a ten minute walk or very short drive to Waitrose and about a twenty five minute walk to the main part of the town. The bedrooms are all well-sized, with comfortable beds and plenty of places to store clothes etc. The kitchen could easily facilitate cooking meals and houses a two leaf table large enough for four or five to eat at. The upstairs bathroom is huge with an excellent shower and the downstairs shower room/toilet is a very useful facility. The front garden is secluded and the raised area was a great place to eat and sit out watching all the birds of prey. We didn't use the back garden due to lack of shade for most of the afternoon. The stairs, although quite steep, were no problem for us, and we did have some older people in our party. There are a small number of good restaurants in Stroud that you can walk to (we particularly liked Tamari-Gi ,The Spice Lounge and Stroud Brewery), although we did need to drive out to find some more options for evening meals - Nailsworth was a good choice. Although quite small, the town has an excellent street and farmers market on Saturdays and a few interesting shops. We contacted the owner on a couple of occasions and she was quick to respond and very helpful - even sending someone round to help us with the BBQ function.
