Best of both worlds

Lovely and cosy property nestled in countryside but only 2 miles to centre of Oban. Decorated beautifully with lots of amenities. Would happily stay again. Glencruitten hotel for afternoon tea is a must! A couple of weeks niggles - no kitchen roll and no loo roll holders so can be awkward having the loo rolls on cistern!

Perfect house for a Scottish adventure!

Blackmount House is an absolute dream! Felt like home as soon as we arrived and had everything and more we needed. All the little details were thought of including a cupboard full of games and books! Perfect location to explore and our favourite was the outdoor bath to relax in after a day of climbing mountains and exploring the area. We hope to return one day and miss it already!

Wonderful Holiday Home with Breathtaking Views – Perfect for Dogs Too!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blackmount House. The house is exceptionally clean, beautifully maintained, cosy and welcoming. It is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The breathtaking views of the stunning Scottish landscape were a particular highlight. There is nothing quite like starting your morning with such beautiful scenery or relaxing in the evening while taking in the views. We stayed with our three dogs, and all five of us felt completely at home. Being able to bring our four-legged family members along made our holiday even more special. Blackmount House is also a fantastic base for exploring Oban, Scotland's beautiful west coast and the surrounding countryside. We would highly recommend this lovely property and would happily return again!

Fantastic little spot, great for walking not too far from town.

Great communication from the team, lovely place to stay will book again. the views from the property where great plenty of parking for cars, loved that it was fenced all around so could let our dog have a wonder round with out worrying hes gunna head for the hills :)

Family Christmas at Blackmount House

Lovely accommodation in great surroundings. The house was clean and comfortable and everything was there that we could have wished for. We stayed during the Christmas week and the owners put up a lovely Christmas tree. The quaint town of Oban was only a couple of miles away and had a Tesco where we got our supplies.

A home away from home!

Blackmount House exceeded our expectations. It was remote, yet had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the seclusion and serenity. Ideal for a quiet getaway, yet only a very short drive from the centre of Oban. This property really is a home away from home!

Blackmount House - August 2026

Overall a great stay in a comfortable and well equipped house. Car essential as road not suitable for walking into Oban, especially for families with young children. Oban and the surrounding area have much to offer without having to drive too far. The sauna is good but the wood fired hot tub requires planning ahead to use - it takes hours to heat. In the main the property was clean but some areas are lacking attention to detail such as dusty skirting boards and patio door tracks. Communication with property management both before and during the stay was excellent. Overall we had a lovely and relaxing two weeks at Blackmount House.

A beautiful, quiet holiday hideaway

We had a lovely week as 5 adults plus dog in this spacious house. Nice to arrive to a welcome basket after a long drive. Really comfortable furnishings and the kitchen was great to cook and be in. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna as well as local walks and outings. Views are of the hills and trees, which is restful.

Idyllic Setting & Amazing House

The views and setting of this property are simply exquisite, and the design of the house is great, so much space and a great flow! I would go back at the drop of a hat, best break in a very long time ❤️ (was just a few small points on cleanliness but nothing major, and wouldn’t put us off going back as you can see!!)

Lovely home in great location

The house was clean, well equipped, as well as being very warm, homely and spacious for a family of 4. The location is excellent, we saw deer out the window, while adagio a short drive from Oban. The only negative we had was that the sauna had gaps at various places around the side making it quite draughty - while hot after a cold winter day, not hot enough to make you sweat as a sauna should. I am sure this would not be an issue in warmer months.

Great base for visiting Western Scotland with a five minute drive to Oban. Very spacious with everything provided for an enjoyable stay. Just a suggestion…. The hearth by wood burner a trip hazard (we all tripped on it) especially coming in through outside doors.

Perfect holiday home in wonderful location!

We can't speak highly enough of Black Mount - we are a family of 6 + dog and had the best holiday we could hope for. The whole family loved it. Gorgeous location - spotted deer and pine martens outside the house. Lovely dog walks just minutes away from the house - make sure you find the Cathedral of Trees!....House was so comfortable, had everything we needed not forgetting the sauna, outside bath (great experience - couldn't decide whether to read or just look at the view!) + hot tub... Added bonus NO MIDGES!.. Thank you...

The 2 sofas in the lounge were uncomfortable and sagging in the middle. The garden, although fenced off, is not secure for small to medium sized dogs.

An enjoyable stay

We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly consider a return visit. The house is beautiful with many amenities. It is located in a peaceful glen only a short 5 minute drive from Oban. In the kitchen a spatula and draining spoon for getting, eg cooked vegetables from a pan would be a welcome addition. When we arrived the fridge hadn’t been cleaned properly and the dishwasher hadn’t been emptied. The provided bin liners were way too small and we bought our own. However all these are very minor points, which can easily be improved upon. Overall we’d highly recommend the property to you others.

Lovely house that we didn't want to leave.

This was our first time booking with West Coast Cottages. They were very helpful when I called with a couple of questions and their booking process was great. Black Mount is a lovely house, just a few minutes drive away from Oban. It feels like you are in a rural cottage yet so close to local shops and supermarkets to make self catering much easier. The house is spacious and well equipped. There are lots of things to do nearby. We took a ferry to Mull but if you're planning on taking a car you need to book in advance. We also recommend Ganavan Sands, a trip to Inveraray and the Oban chocolate shop.

what a gem

Great property, beautiful peaceful location. loads of space and had pretty much everything we needed. Owner was really friendly and helpful when we needed to contact. Just a couple of pointers, If you have a small dog or young children, the fencing is not totally secure as they could slip through the gaps. Perhaps just some mesh at the bottom so you don't lose the views. Although it allows dogs rules of the house state they are not allowed in the carpeted areas. I understand not being allowed on the furniture but this means they are effectively confined to the hallway and the kitchen. We were lucky the weather was so good as we sat out every evening but otherwise if you want to sit and watch a bit of tv or just sit on the comfy sofas it means leaving the dog out on their own. Otherwise i would recommend as it is beautiful and in a great location. Great walks through the local Glencruitten woods.

Perfect

A great house in a peaceful, relaxing area but really near shops and the town of Oban for provisions. I loved waking in a morning listening to the sound of the birds and nothing else except for a very occasional car. It was really well equipped for 6 people, spotlessly clean, really comfy beds, great layout and a lovely touch with treats on arrival. Great communication and really kind and helpful agent and owner. You are so close to the islands and the countryside is stunning. We loved it and will definitely be back. Thank you to everyone involved.
