The castle, cottage, and grounds were beautiful and very well taken care of.

From pulling into the driveway to sleeping soundly in the nice king bed, my family 100% thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Midhope Castle and will be recommending it in the future!

James the host was incredibly kind and hospitable! We spent 3 nights. The cottage was very clean and decorated beautifully. Would stay here again.

Above expectation, a real gem. A very nice and comfortable cottage, in an amazing location, absolutley quiet and relaxed at nigth. Everything was clean, the kitchen was full equipped and they even offer all the products for a good breakfast. No doubt that I will go back and surely the best accomodation we found during our holiday.

Wonderful stay! Perfect location with everything you could possibly need for a sea view visit. Great outdoor eating tables, sunroom for when it was rainy and we still wanted to see the sea. Bedrooms were very comfortable and kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Umbrellas, beach towels and extra folding chairs if we had required them. Perfect location with a 10 min drive to Buckie which had butcher, bakery, fishmonger (the fish was wonderful!) and a Tesco. Great location for visiting the Firth of Moray area.

The best night I have had in Scotland in 3 trips.

The cottage stay was just what me & my friends needed in the middle of a very busy stay in Scotland. We loved the decor & everything we needed was supplied. We very much appreciated the fruit bowls and the fresh eggs. Our stay was homey & comfortable. We look forward to our next (longer) stay at the cottage. Well done.

It was purely magical.

Being able to be at Midhope Castle after all the tourist leave and watching the sunset was just breathtaking. The cottage was exquisitely done with extreme attention to detail from the fixtures, the paintings on the wall. It was very cozy. We appreciate all the awesome food, snacks, and beverages too..

The best night we had in Scotland!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Midhope Castle. From check-in to check-out everything was wonderful. The cottage was absolutely adorable. The beds were so comfortable after a long day of travel. The shower was so amazing. They even had snacks and breakfast for us. It was also amazing to be able to explore the grounds after hours. It truly felt like I was home and we did not want to leave.

A magical place in a charming, well-appointed cottage, with Highland cows and walks.

Our host was very kind and the Gamekeeper’s Cottage was set in a beautiful park with its own yard in sight of an ancient yew and the iconic castle. The children loved meeting Anna and Una, the Highland cows. The cottage is beautifully decorated and our included breakfast included fresh fruit, yoghurt, charcuterie and more.

LOVED EVERY SECOND

James and his wife thought of EVERYTHING for their guests. I’ve rented several places and none compared to the experience and hospitality as them. The cottage was so cute and the location was perfect and felt like home. I would recommend them to anyone traveling through this area especially if they’re an OUTLANDER fan!!

Staying overnight on the Midhope property was purely MAGICAL!

From the very start, being greeted and shown our accommodations, we were enamored with the Gamekeeper's Cottage. Every staff member we encountered during our stay was friendly, helpful, and genuine. Getting to witness a sunrise and sunset over the beloved Lallybroch from Outlander, was a dream come true. We maximized our experience by hiring a photographer to capture some beautiful memories. This was a trip my husband and I surely will never forget. Thank you.

Fabulous

The Cottage was 5 star plus. Everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. Spotlessly clean, thick fluffy towels and toiletries. The views over lallybroch (if you are an outlander fan) are stunning. We were lucky enough to see a beautiful sunset over the castle. The added bonus of staying in this cottage is that you have unlimited access to the grounds even when it is closed to the public. We must thank James for inviting us to the VIP talk which was very interesting.

We have stayed at a lot of places and this takes cake as our all time favorite. Would honestly give this a 10 out of 5 stars if possible. James and Angela are fantastic hosts, with every detail accounted for. You also get to know the staff of Midhope castle who were incredibly friendly and helpful. The property would be amazing even without the Outlander tie. They even had highland coos on the property to boot! Convenient access to the airport and park and ride to get into Edinburgh. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

The Most Magical of Dreams

Staying in the new Lallybroch cottage was unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I felt I had travelled back in time and become part of this magical place. Every detail is beautiful, elegant, and thoughtfully chosen, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. The most special moment was looking out of the window and seeing Lallybroch before me. Waking to birdsong and that incredible view felt like a dream. Thank you Angela and James for your kindness and care. Best birthday ever. Salo

Stunning. Beautiful property. Beautiful linen etc. Everything you could need. Lovely seasoned firewood, and breakfast. Such a treat. Best thing we had the castle and grounds to ourselves after hours. Our stay was super special.
