Awesome view, spacious condo
The good: Great location near the San Clemente Pier. The condo is set up to take as much advantage of the great ocean views as possible. You can easily hear the ocean from here. The kitchen is adequately equipped. There are plenty of condiments and some other useful food items. The decor is peculiar, but with definite trend toward ocean themes. There are many places to sleep with two bunk beds in the second bedroom. Nice flat screen tv with DirectTV. Not-So-Good: The heating is woeful, with just one electric heater in the master bedroom, but if you turn it up (had to get the owner's daughter to come turn it on-printed instructions could avoid this!) and leave the door open you can warm the unit up a little (a small portable heater in the second bedroom and kitchen would be helpful)- It also necessary to close off the sliders that lead out from the living room and kitchen areas to limit the heated area. Parking is limited to one space and parking on the street is tight. The laminate flooring in the unit is on it's last legs- it is spongy and warped but not unsafe. The second bathroom tub wasn't clean.
Overall: The location and view make up for a lot of negatives and make the price about right.
Thank you for the feedback. Some flooring replacement is on our upcoming schedule.

The outdoor space can't be better: incredible views up above the pier and the tabletop firepit allows you to enjoy the outdoors longer even with chilly weather. The décor is beachy and unique, love the metal artwork. It is nothing like a sterile hotel room. The kitchen is well stocked. Keep in mind wi-fi is not very strong except in the living room. The only source of heat we had was the electric fireplace in one bedroom but we didn't really need it. There are plenty of blankets and in the morning, it heats up fast if sunny. If view and closeness to the beach and restaurants are important to you, then this place is a must to stay.
Wonderful time in San Clemente
Awesome views of ocean, beach and pier. Location was ideal with walking distance to beach and town. Jerry the owner met us upon arrival and responded quickly to our requests. Overall the place was clean and tidy but could use some cosmetic updates and repairs.
Upon arrival we were met by Jerry the owner and were informed we would not be staying in the Surf View Penthouse, that is named on this VRBO site and we thought that we rented, but rather the unit below the Palm Tree Penthouse Suite. We talked to Jerry about our expectations and he tried to "convince" us that the Palm Tree was the better unit, including the fact that we would of had to "share" the large porch of the Surf View unit with him and another.
As I stated above we had a great visit and the the Palm Tree unit met our needs but overall we felt deceived. We thought we reserved the Surf View with its large wrap around porch and sun room and we did not get that. If you are thinking of renting this property and pick it based on the pictured porch as we did, validate that you will get the Surf View unit and the porch will be private.
The 3 stars for communication with the Property Manager is based on the lack of communication that we would not be in the Surf View. Other than that communication was good.
Over the years, in addition to the closeness of the surf and beach, guests seem to be evenly divided in their preferences enjoying the two very unique 180 degree panoramic ocean views overlooking the sea, pier, islands, and, even Dana Point harbor.
