Jerry, Thanks so much for the great review! I apologize about the coffee problem. We do have a cabinet in our kitchen that has coffee and boxes of tea usually stocked but it is on the top shelf and might have been difficult to see. Ronald, Thank you for your honest review of our property. I’d love to address some of the issues you’ve brought up. First, we have small signs posted up around the house, similar to other VRBO and rentals, which have tips and suggestions for guests. These signs include helpful notes that are intended to answer questions that typically come up before they ever need to be asked. As it says in our listing, our home was built in 1906 and the plumbing is very old, this is why we ask guests simply to not flush any other materials than toilet paper. Second, the security cameras we have located in the house pointed directly at the front and back doors are a safety feature we installed in order to keep the house safe while no one is there. They are only set to record when no one is staying and I absolutely never use them while guests are staying in the house. I’m sorry if they made you feel uncomfortable. Third, you say: “Unfortunately it was family weekend and we had a few too many people over.” However, this is a gross mischaracterization of your behavior. I arrived home on Saturday afternoon to find somewhere in the range of 40-50 people in our home. Your reservation was booked for a total of SIX guests. It says very clearly on our listing that events and parties are NOT allowed at our property. After speaking with you on the front porch you admitted to me that you were AWARE of our policy of no parties/events but decided that you were going to ignore that rule and go ahead and throw a party regardless. This egregious and blatant violation of the house rules is what earned you 1 star review from us. Finally, the doorknob that was broken during your stay had rendered the front door useless until we are able to replace it. It was not the top deadbolt you are referring to in your review that is no longer being used but rather the main doorknob used to open and close the front door. It also had a locking mechanism. It was working perfectly fine on the morning of your check-in and when I entered the house at 10:15am on the Sunday you checked-out it was mangled and completely broken. I have video evidence to prove this and will be submitting it with my damage deposit claim. In the future, I hope you decide to tell hosts that you are indeed not just “having a few people over” but also actually throwing a large football tailgating party in their home. Sincerely, Ian Boelts
