Great stay! Front door lock was tricky but the owner was very responsive! Great home that was well-equipped, very comfortable, and communication was smooth.

This was 100% the best vacation EVER! The house was just perfect for our large family of nine....rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Kitchen was stocked very well and met all our needs. The host was the best we have ever rented from. She was super responsive to our needs and very accomodating to anything we needed.

Fantastic for a family gathering

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! There was plenty of room to spred out, lots to do on the property, and it was in a great, quiet location. The dock was perfect for fishing and the water was great for our littles (and bigs) to swim and relax. We cannot wait to come back!

We enjoyed the property greatly, we did have to deal with a few hiccups. Which included buying coolers because the refrigerator was not working the first night.. they did ask us to do a few things to the fridge but my husband did not feel comfortable with that just in case something happened..they had someone come look at it in the next day but we had bought 700 dollars worth of groceries we did not want to go bad. The frustrating part was, we were not compensated for the coolers we bought equally 100 dollars. The store did not have the cheap ones available, the property its self was gorgeous. The only complaint was the beach looked nothing like the pictures. The host was very nice and talk back and forth with us.

Oh! Ok… good to know here in the reviews that you bought ice chests and wanted compensation for them. I didn’t see any ice chests left at the property so I assume you took them home. Sometimes appliances don’t cooperate with timing on when it stops working correctly. You reported the problem and within 24 hours the problem was fixed. We didn’t even hear back from you confirming the refrigerator was cooling again! (Defrost issue). Maybe you should know I didn’t charge you for the extra cleaning that was required after you checked out since it was reported by the cleaning service that this was one of the worst cleanings they’ve had to do this year. I paid it and didn’t say anything because of the inconvenience of the refrigerator not defrosting correctly. Glad you liked the house otherwise! I do recall granting an early check in at noon vice 4:00 pm and also you sending packages to the house for someone who left an item at home they needed. Oh and who left this review? This isn’t the person that booked the property. Hopefully you find a great place to stay somewhere else for your next family gathering!

Absolutely gorgeous! We came down from MI on our kids Spring Break and the house had everything we needed and more! We especially loved the deck in the morning to drink coffee, the sandy beach area, the dock was awesome to fish, beds were comfortable, lots of bathrooms for everyone, basketball and pickleball. So so so thankfully for being on the Sound for the week. The Gulf area ended up being double red flags so being on the Sound we felt safe and us parents could relax because we didn’t hafta worry about an undertow. Also did I mention we saw dolphins everyday and my son caught a flounder! We made so many memories and will definitely be back!

Great family place

We loved our stay. We got to layout on our own beach. The pier was great for fishing. Only caught catfish though. Huge clean house and the owners answered us quickly when asked a question. Will be back.

Amazing home with spectacular view and location. Plenty of space to spread out. They have almost everything you need to have a perfect beach vacation. All you need is clothes! It was perfect for our family (8 adults, 1 baby). Host was very friendly and prompt to respond to any and all questions we had. Could not recommend more!

Great family get away

this is a great family vacation spot. It has plenty of space short walk to the water, was able to enjoy family time and relax without all the crowd and haven to really keep an eye on the grandkids.In which they enjoyed jumping off the end of the dock especially when the tide was in.which made it deeper. We really are going to keep this place in are future plans. And the host are great every time i had a question all i did was text her she got back with me in great timeing. thanks again for a great place

Best Large Family Vacation

We loved staying at this property. In all we had 15 people, 7 adults and 8 kids ranging from 2 to 14. It was so nice being able to go straight from the back door to the beach/water. The adults could even sit on the back porch in the shade and watch the kids play. The fishing was great. The house well stocked with toys, beach items, floats, kayak, corn hole, balls, and a well equipped kitchen including plenty of spices. We highly recommend!

Great location and views. Liked layout of house. Everyone had plenty of space. However, items in refrigerator and freezer were not cleaned out. Need to stock basic cleaning supplies. House could use some maintenance.

Hello Sandra, typically we keep some items in the fridge for guest use and to not be wasteful. The fridge is cleaned after every guest, unopened items and condiments stay.

Amazing Home!

We had a wonderful stay at this property! Michelle and Doug offer wonderful hospitality. They offer recommendations and make sure your stay is amazing. The book of local info in the house was much appreciated. The beach area is perfect for social distancing - beach chairs, paddle board, kayak, fire pit, sand toys, basketball court, footballs, beach towels - what more could anyone need! The house is cozy and welcoming with plenty of room for everyone. Even the teens in our family commented on how well they slept on the comfortable beds. We would highly recommend this property and would definitely love to return for another stay in the future.

This house was fantastic! The owners were excellent to work with/rent from! Our family had an age range from 10 months old to 65 years old and there was literally something for everyone to do and enjoy! I don’t think I heard the words “I’m bored” once during our stay! We fished, swam, kayaked, played beach games and just relaxed. You really only need your clothes, the owners have anything else you could think of! The house it’s self, just wow, the amount of space and size of the rooms was amazing! But if you asked any one in our group what their favorite part was, it would unanimously be the back porch—we were out there sun up to sun down and then some! The views were breath taking. We saw dolphins and sting rays daily. It was a perfect vacation and the peacefulness we all needed!

Picturesque Home

This home was perfect for our family. Easy to get everywhere. It was very comfortable and homey. We had nine adults & two children in our party. Everyone had plenty of space even if they wanted alone time. All the amenities we needed was provided. Walmart is two miles away & Destin is 20 miles away which keeps you out of all the touristy craziness. We did visit Destin a couple times during the week which is gorgeous, but was glad to get 'home' where it was nice & quiet. Several kept referring to being in an episode of Outer Banks or Bloodline. Bottom line, if I was looking to buy, this place would be exactly what I wanted. Everyone of us loved it.

Perfect & Well Stocked!!

We had four families staying here for Christmas 2023. It was absolutely wonderful. The place is even more beautiful in person! It was one of the most well stocked properties we have stayed at. And lots of extras-extra towels, extra beach towels, extra beach accessories, etc. The grill was brand new! Clean, comfortable. No one had any complaints, except for no ice in the refrigerator. Then we found the separate ice machine beside the dishwasher! Owners were attentive in their messages. All four of our families could not recommend it more! We had 7 kids with us: ages 8-13 and they thought this place was awesome! It easily slept our 4 families. Give this place consideration!! I almost want to keep it secret for ourselves…but enjoy! We loved it!

Paradise on the Sound

Every aspect of our experience at Soundside Retreat exceeded our expectations. We have rented many properties at many beaches over the years. This property is the family favorite by far. The Owners have demonstrated an amazing level of hospitality in the appointments and upkeep of the property. We truly felt like their guests. They clearly desire a family vacation experience for their guests as close as possible to their own family vacation experiences. The kids absolutely loved playing in the sound, using the paddle board, kayak and the big blue floating mat. We were able to watch dolphins fishing and military airborne training exercises from the porch, beach or dock. An added bonus was having an awesome fishing charter adventure with Captain Cory Holland (Liquid Prescription Charters) that departed from the dock on the property. We are already looking forward to new adventure experiences next summer at Soundside Retreat.

This place is amazing!!! We were there during TS Bertha, which made the gulf waves too dangerous, but the beach on the sound side was perfect so the kids didn't miss out on swimming. Literally everything you could need is there, including an abundance of beach towels! My only concern (not a complaint) is the stairs going up to the master bathroom (as well as in the living room). It's only 2 steps but with no handrails, older people may find them difficult to navigate (I dont consider myself older but I have bad joints).We will definitely book this place again....you will not regret it!!! Seriously...can't say enough about this!!

Wonderful!

We don't have a single complaint about our stay , The hosts were Amazing! We had kids ranging from 18 months to 12 years old. Thier was so much space in the house for everyone to spread out! We had braught a lot of our own floats but the property had more than enough there. The view was amazing, my boys loved the dock and jumping off it, being secluded from everyone was aseome too, and being only a short distance from destin for the days we wanted to adventure out! I would definitely recommend staying here 100 perecnt!

Family Paradise on the Sound

My wife and I absolutely love the house, it's well maintained quality, it's amenities and it's location. We have a large family with grandkids ranging in age from 9 months to 15 years old. The property owners have a large, young family as well which is obvious by the amenities they provide and the joy they gain in sharing their vacation home with similar families. The sound and the property location are absolutely safe and fun for everyone of all ages to enjoy.

Wonderful Home

We were so pleased with everything about our stay here. It was perfect for us, our kids, and our grandkids (who had an absolute blast). The owners are the best I've ever dealt with. We highly recommend this wonderful home on Santa Rosa Island Sound. I hope it's available for the next time we visit with our family!
