Although the location is in the heart of everything you would like to see, minutes away from all attractions and settled in the historic district, this location dose mean that the culture, partying, music; street events may keep you up until the early hours of the morning. The rooms were small, but effectively housed a family of four.

Very centrally located within walking distance to most attractions and the tram. Be prepared for stairs, lots of them. This is Lisbon, a walkable city.

As other reviewers note, it is difficult to sleep in this rental because every night at about midnight to 3 am men gather outside, drink beer, sing loudly, play guitar and play loud drums - about 20-30 feet from the windows. Because there is no air conditioning you must leave the windows open - and even when you close the windows it is still loud. A box of earplugs in the closet reveal this is a known and recurring problem. Also, the opening photo is NOT of the exterior of this house or any building next to it and is therefore highly misleading. Otherwise, rental is fine and as advertised. Great neighborhood. Just was kind and a good communicator. I would never stay here again.

Je suis ravie que vous ayez trouvé le logement conforme à l’annonce et apprécié le quartier. L’annonce précise que l’appartement est situé au cœur de l’Alfama, un quartier vivant et fréquenté. Je regrette de n’avoir été informée de la situation que lors de votre dernière nuit. Je souhaite toutefois rectifier un point : la première photo représente bien la façade de l’immeuble, photographiée depuis le parvis de l’église Santo Estêvão, comme l’indique sa légende.

Perfect spot to see the sites

Communication with the host was timely and precise. Appartment was well equipped and it is in a perfect location. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location to experience and explore Lisbon.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The apartment is in a perfect location to experience and explore Lisbon. The apartment is clean and very comfortable. I will definitely return the next time we visit Lisbon.

Excellent location small apartment

Had a little difficultly finding the place. It is an excellent location but can be a bit noisy at night. The apartment is on the small side but had everything we needed. I would recommend.

A Hidden Gem for FamiliesI booked this property located in the Alfama district of Lisbon with little to no knowledge of the city. We lucked out. The host was extremely accommodating, with clear instructions on how to access the property, and a literal book of sights to see, food to try, and experiences to be had during our stay.If you want to feel like a local on your stay, this is the spot. Tight streets, restaurants around every narrow corner. And by day two you’ll see a host of familiar faces on your walk to and from the apartment. The streets of Alfama are cobblestone and winding, but even with my wife’s recently injured knee and my kids both under the age of 8 years old, trekking through the neighborhood was part of the magical adventure.Highly recommend spending your nights in the Fado houses in the neighborhood.

Amazing apartment

Florence place was an exceptional value and we will most certainly return . The charm of the property is irresistible. The location was perfect. Walking distance to all train stations, attractions and restaurants. The view from balcony and top floors was amazing. Communication was outstanding with the host. We stayed at the apartment for a week while staying in Lisbon. The property was clean when we arrived and check in instructions were clear and accurate. The beds were comfy, and the water pressure was very good. The area is nice too, central and full of culture especially during Santos populares celebrations in June (when we went), lots of busy streets and stalls. We struggled with the lack of air con in the room during our stay (we didn't realise when booking, our mistake) while the 2 bedrooms had fans they were both quite old and one was missing the front cover. The only other thing was that a TV was listed in the description and this was not accurate, however it did not affect our stay. We did find we had to go and buy more toilet roll. overall we enjoyed our stay but mainly struggled with no air-conditioning/ decent fans, especially in the upstairs bedroom and in the kitchen where there are no windows. Thank you for our stay and we loved lisbon!

Best for short people!

The location was excellent right near Sao Estevao. One slight drawback to that location was groups gathering to sing and play music at 2am in the overlook. The apartment was small and the upstairs ceiling quite low, rather uncomfortable for our tall group. This listing best for people under about 5’5”.

Great location. Small space.

Location is excellent except for young people across from the apartment outside playing guitars and singing at 3 or 4 AM every night. Not a great sleep. Dust coating the fans and mold on the shower. Can’t be claustrophobic in this place!

Great apartment; lively neighborhood

We had a great stay, and Florence was a very communicative and helpful host! The apartment is adorable and in a great location for seeing the city. Our only note is that, as mentioned elsewhere, it's a lively neighborhood and can get noisy. What's worth specifying is that this is came in the form of people loudly singing, playing guitar, etc. directly across from the apartment between the hours of midnight and 4am. Overall, the space/hosts are wonderful, but if you're sensitive to sound, you may want to look in other neighborhoods.

Great location & host

The apartment is in a great location, as long as you are okay with some steps and hills. It is near several restaurants and small grocery stores. Our host, Florence, has a Welcome book with helpful information about the apartment and places to go in Lisbon. We had two couples on our trip and found the apartment very tight for the 4 of us. Other than the kitchen table there wasn't a space where we could sit and hang out together. The bathrooms are quite small. It would be better for one couple or a couple of friends. Overall we did enjoy staying there but next time will probably look for a little more space.

It is well located and the host responded quickly. However, the pictures do not depict the apartment . The rooms are small , the bathrooms minuscule , small sinks and lacking proper storage. One of the hair dryer was blowing cold air , one of the toilet was not flushing properly by itself and we ran out of hot water for the second shower. The bed in the attic room was not comfortable; it had two single mattresses with different levels and smelled old. The only view of the river is from the attic room . Of the 4 nights we stayed there, we had outside signers from midnight until 3:00 in the morning or the neighbours television set extremely loud . Hard to get a good rest even with the ear plugs and the windows closed. We were looking forward to our stay in Lisbon but disappointed the apartment was not more comfortable. The suite needs to be reviewed and pictures should reflect the new reality.

Alfama for my wife's birthday

We stayed in Alfama as a central point to tour Lisbon, Sintra, Evora, and Belem. The apartment was clean, had most of what we needed, was close to sights, and to groceries. The breezes (and fans).were enough to keep us cool at night, but things were a little snug in the bathrooms (I am 1.96 meters tall) and one of the toilet.seats was loose. There was also a slight sewer smell in the bathroom next to the kitchen. Our main complaint was that partiers would gather at St. Estavo overlook and sing, play music, and basically be raucous until 4 AM! We thought Alfama was quieter than downtown but that was not always the case. Florence was a very gravious host and very responsive to our needs.

Too many stairs

This apartment is close to the Tagus. One must be in excellent shape as the neighborhood is very hilly and many steps to reach the apartment. Inside are narrow stairwell to apartment. As mentioned elsewhere the location has groups gathering right outside the door playing music, starting at 12 am till 4 am. This went on for 3 nights in a row. This apartment does not have a living or family room, just a small kitchen with no windows.

Great little spot, but neighborhood noise was too much

Loved the properation location and size (2 adults, one 10yo kid - a larger kid or another adult would have been too tight). The place had everything we needed. However, the proximity to all-night partiers, singers, instruments players made sleep very difficult for all of us. We could hear everything from alleys below and the churchyard patio area outside. It was fun the first night, then not fun at all. But the space and location are so good! The step down in rating only reflects the volume of the neighborhood, not the actual apartment (we did not find the promised ear plugs - that my have helped a bit). In a dif location this would have been fantastic. Loved the view, the short walk to metro station and river, etc.

Stairs are fun

It's in Alfama which dates to the 8th century. Any accommodation is going to be narrow with stairs. Everywhere you turn there are stairs or steep streets. Two of us are about 55 and found it charming, interesting, fun and laughed at the constant stairs in Alfama and the building we were in. Two travellers are 65-70 and found the area (and building) quite challenging. Some reviews mention "noise" - - - across the street is a large gathering area that the local residents use. They play some music (until about midnight), have a few cervejas and mostly talk well into the night (3:30 - 4:00 am). We did not have a problem with it - - - it wasn't rowdy. The host left an extensive "Welcome Book" - - - some info is a bit dated but overall we appreciated the book. Our host was quick to reply to our questions. We (the 55s) would definitely stay in the area again.

Très bon logement et vraiment hyper bien situé dans le quartier Alfama. Nous n’avions pas loué de voiture donc nous nous sommes déplacés uniquement grâce aux transports en commun. Je recommande ce logement.

Pas évident de trouver la rue. Prenez note que qu’il n’y a pas aucune auto qui peut si rendre directement. Vous devez monter des escaliers, ou en descendre, tout dépend d’où vous arrivez. Il est bien situé
