This little treasure met all our expectations. Within a stones throw of the golf course. It was warm and cozy for the winter nights. There's a great little Italian restaurant just down the road. It was perfect for a short breakaway. Thanks Jay for the milk and coffee!
Good place to stay and explore the Ochils from
This place worked well for myself and my wife. Jay meet us when we arrived (1 hour early) and told us about the property and area e.g. best shops etc, She had also stocked the fridge with a few essentials + some tea and coffee etc. We had a couple of chats with her later in the week, she's probably the most friendly, though not intrusive, hosts we have encountered. The property ( ground and 1st floor) was well equipped, spacious + nice and warm. The first floor also offers a good view of the Ochils, nice to wake up to in the morning. The property is also well located for visiting other locations, lots of nice places within a few miles, though these isn't a lot to do in Fishcross itself so a car is pretty much essential.
Would I stay there again? You bet.
Thank you so much for your review . Im so pleased you both had a lovelg time and everything was good for you. Haste ye back
Perfect for us.
Used as a stopover and very nice it is too. The fridge stuff was a nice touch and no problems at all with anything. Pleasant enough surroundings and a lovely view. Easy to find and get into and it worked for us. All in all, very happy and would stay here again anytime. Thanks Jay.
Heather Retreat - A Scottish Gem
The photos of this property do not do it justice. It is very spacious, with comfortable furnishings in the lounge, providing a homely atmosphere. The bed is large and comfortable and there is excellent lighting to suit your needs. After being out all day, we enjoyed a gin and tonic on our own private verandah before settling on a sofa each to relax. The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you would normally have at home. Whilst the property adjoins the owners main house, we were not affected by their closeness, in fact it was so peaceful and perfect. Jay and George are the loveliest couple you could ever meet, and gave us the warmest welcome. ........ truly perfect hosts, and they were regularly available should we need them. Jay had bought in some essentials for us including lovely shortbread and took us on a tour of the area so that we had knowledge of where the supermarkets, restaurants and train stain are located. Jay also took us to Alva Glen, which I doubt we would have found. It is truly beautiful and we were able to explore it the next morning. Our main purpose of this holiday was to attend the Solheim Cup and play some golf, but we did so much more as this little gem is in prime location to discover so much within a short distance. If you are golfers, you must play Alloa golf course ... fabulous. We visited Perth and Edinburgh and used the park and ride just outside both cities. Sterling is a must, with so much history and fabulous photo opportunities. It has some wonderful boutique shops and cafes and restaurants. On leaving Sterling we visited the Wallace Monument which is a wonderful experience and where we learnt the true history of this area. The views are stunning. Before heading back to Fishcross, another cup of tea was needed at Bridge of Allan, a quaint town with a pretty Main Street. I must say the Scottish people make the best tea ..... real tea leaves and natural local water. Another must to visit is the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. The Kelpies are beautiful and are in a lovely area with real natural beauty and once again have the backdrop of the Ochil Hills. We didn’t get time to visit Falkirk, but that is one for a return visit, as we really plan to come back. On our return we will definitely stay at Heather Retreat as it really gives you a holiday away from the busy life but with a homely atmosphere, far better than staying in hotel and ran by truly lovely people.
Thank you Greg and Diane it was lovely to meet you both also. Reading what youve written makes it all worth while. Haste ye back
The pictures do not do this place justice. The whole place had such a relaxing feel to it, we wished we could stay longer. We only stayed 2 days for a friends wedding up the road.
All facilities are provided and especially appreciated the small touches such as free milk, shortbread, croissants and teas/coffee etc. The host was really friendly, even offering us a lift to the wedding if she wasn’t working that day.
Would 100% stay again if ever in the area.
Hi Lewis thank you so much for your review. That was really kind of you.
