Weekend stay

Beautiful home! Exactly as described…we enjoyed a fun family weekend in Des Moines and couldn’t have asked for a better location to stay.

Not what I expected

The property was pretty dirty. It took over a day to get a response from the property manager. The trash was heaping over in the garage. There was dog poop everywhere in the back yard area. There were huge piles right in front of the doors to the garage & the back entry. We had to clean them up to even walk in to the house. It smelled like dogs in the house. The steps into the back of the house were dirty & the walls clearly had never been washed down. The reason we picked this house is because we have a small dog who sometimes has to come with us & we ended up not bringing him. Next time we have to stay in Des Moines it will not be in this house! Very disappointed!!! If you are looking for cleanliness & communication, go somewhere else.

Summer Trip

Overall, the house appeared to have been recently remodeled with updated bathrooms and appliances. It's an older house, so there is some uniqueness to it like the shower on the first floor is a little bit smaller but the water pressure throughout the house is nice. I would recommend spending some money on new shutters and blinds as the morning sun was pretty bright with the basic pieces used today; might help save on energy too. I like having the detached garage for privacy and quick access. The house was close to the Price Chopper, public beach, downtown, restaurants and highway which gave us plenty of things to do with the kids. It was close to 100 degrees and the A/C kept us nice and cool. I'd come back again.

Golf trip

Good layout and plenty of room to spreadout. Its an older property that looks to have been renovated recently. Becareful on the front steps, they need some work.

Family Stay in IA

The house was very well equipped with everything we needed. Plenty of room to sleep the 7 of us. Location was just GREAT. Grocery and Gas Station within walking distance. A park within walking distance. Close to downtown and the Fair Grounds. We really enjoyed the comfort of having a house to relax in during our down time. Owners were very helpful and quick to respond to questions.

Spacious and Comfortable!

The house was the perfect place for our family to gather for a college graduation weekend. We had two sets of grandparents and everyone was comfortable. We loved the large open areas and the front porch.

Wonderful Accommodations and a Great Des Moines Location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bedding is comfortable and one bedroom and bath are on the first floor. The furnishings are very nice, and the kitchen is great! The use of the garage was wonderful. Be sure that you have a vehicle small enough to fit. It’s a fairly small garage. Our Subaru Ascent, a mid-size SUV, fit fine. A larger car wouldn’t fit, but there’s parking on the quiet street in front of the house. Be sure that you’re OK with stairs both to access the property and inside. The location is handy for almost anything on the west side of Des Moines, particularly Drake University. Highly recommended.

Great Updated Home

We had a great experience, great location close to Downtown. Fully updated home. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch. Easy checkin and checkout process with great communication. Would stay again!

Great location, great stay!

This was our first time in Des Moines and we really didn't know the area or where to stay. This was perfect! It's so close to pretty much everything, with a bonus of having a grocery store right around the corner (SO convenient). The house was clean and comfortable and a great place for our family to stay, located in a quiet neighborhood. The garage was super-handy. The hosts were really nice and very responsive to any and all questions that we had. If we return to the area we would definitely stay here.

Well-appointed and stylish classic house

Just-right, updated classic home. We were all comfortable here. The location is quite convenient to shopping, and the kitchen is well-stocked. A little bit of early-morning street noise from the upper bedrooms but otherwise, a perfect stay!

Perfect Farmhouse Stay

This was a perfect stay and location for our visit to Des Moines! The house is nicely decorated and well maintained and the garage was super convenient too! We were able to walk next door to Price Chopper which is the former Dahl’s and it was perfect! Thanks again to our hosts!

Has everything needed!

Very nice updated and decorated home. Loved being able to use the garage. There are houses all around you, but you feel you secluded the way the backyard is fenced. Grocery is right there and several nice restaurants to choose from within walking distance. Burgers and patio at The Station on Ingersoll are a great try!

Great Place in Des Moines

We stayed at this very clean, well-appointed, and charming house while in Des Moines to take our daughter to college. The house is close to everything you need - restaurants, grocery stores, and is clean and cute. The check-in process was a bit clunky as we didn't receive check-in information as planned. As a result, we arrived at the house without the code to enter the property very late at night and we're on the verge of staying in a hotel courtesy of VRBO. The owner then contacted us, indicating the messaging through VRBO was delayed. We were very happy with how VRBO handled it and they were readily available to help us even late at night. In the future, the owner might want to contact guests directly and through VRBO to avoid such issues in the future. Either way, the owner was very apologetic and gracious about it and refunded $50 off our bill for the hassle. I would recommend staying here and we'd do so again.

Nice time

House was great. Roomy. Comfortable furnishings and well appointed. Neighborhood is convenient to various places of fun. Would definitely recommend. Two points of consideration...WIFI credentials should be shared independently from the installation of the app. Consider framing the credentials and putting it on the mantle. It should not be hard. Secondly...I was able to figure out the TV in order to watch sports...but I am technically gifted. This is likely too hard and will be a source of frustration for those desiring to watch live TV. Proving some sort of information readily available would have been helpful. Regardless...good place.

Covid Wedding Weekend

Great house with very fun furnishings. The house was clean and tidy. Sleep was good as the house is quiet and the beds are comfortable. The parking garage was very convenient. The neighbor from the apartment complex found us just as we were bringing our bags in. She yelled through the kitchen window as to whether a car in the parking lot was ours. I ran outside to let her know that our cars were in the garage. The porch and rocking chairs were nice as the weather was beautiful. A very short convient walk to the grocery store. The owner was very accommodating. Thank you for our stay.

Great place for family get-together

My husband and I and our two adult daughters stayed in this cozy home over Christmas, when we came back to Iowa to be with family for the holidays. This lovely house was a great spot to convene; it was cozy, comfortable, and very nicely renovated/decorated. We loved having a grocery store right next door for convenient food runs, and even more we appreciated the numerous restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. The location can't be beat. Everything in the home was spotlessly clean and organized, and we were able to use the well-appointed kitchen to do some basic cooking as well as do a couple of loads of laundry in the basement. Given that it was cold and snowy, we appreciated the double garage for our two vehicles. Perhaps the best part was the ability to text our hosts and receive almost immediate answers to any questions we had.

Amazing stay in blizzard-ville USA

An amazing stay!! There were a few blips with the furnace which went out overnight, the owner was responsive and had the issue fixed right away. This is a wonderful place that has been fixed up to make guests feel right at home. If you’re open to a few suggestions, it would’ve been nice to see a microwave and a handrail down the stairs. I’d recommend this property to anyone staying in Des Moines! I will definitely be in touch for future visits!

Centrally located, charming family home

This house was the perfect place for my family to stay over the holiday. It was minutes from downtown and the main hwy so everything was maybe a 10 minute drive which was soooo nice! The house itself was beautiful! An older home with all the cool built-in’s and charm, but still updated with a sleek design and modern amenities (if ur an architecture nerd like us :) All the beds were super comfy and the front door pad lock allowed gusts to come and go as they wish, big bonus! The owners were responsive with any questions we had she very friendly. All around A+ stay. We will for sure be back next time we come to Iowa! Thank you!
