Very relaxing sitting on the dock and watching the birds, river otter, crabs and fish! The town was cool with shops and plenty of restaurants for oysters!

The interior of the house is lovely - quite comfortable, clean, and inviting. The pool is a treat on a hot day. There was a minor glitch with its pump one day but they got right on the problem and it was fixed the same day. The most spectacular thing about the property is access to the dock in Perkins Creek. The bird (blue herons, green herons, egrets, and even a bald eagle among other birds) aquatic (crabs and small fish that love to leap and skip out of the water), and even mammal (saw two river otters one morning!) life was better entertainment than any TV. Just awesome! Bring binoculars!

Relaxing

We had a wonderful time in Urbana. The house was set up with everything we might need for a relaxing stay. We enjoyed kayaking in the creek every day. The view from the dock was absolutely beautiful.

Amenities at the house were top notch! All necessities were stocked. Furniture (couches) and beds were comfortable. Sitting at the end of the dock was very peaceful in the morning or evening.

Great girls getaway!

Wish our weekend was longer to enjoy this sweet house a bit more. Everything we needed in this beautiful home, so cozy. Pool was cold, but it didn't stop me - just my sister and daughter! Sat down by the river the whole day and just enjoyed the sun and wildlife. Also had a few great meals at local restaurants. Hoping to visit again next year!

Thank you so much for the sweet review! I’m so glad you were able to spend a full day soaking up the sun and enjoying the wildlife by the river—that’s truly one of the best ways to spend time here. I admire your bravery for jumping in the pool! We would love to host you, your sister, and your daughter again next year for a longer stay.

The house was clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils and other needs for grilling on the blackstone. We had an issue with operating the thermostat and TV, which was user error, but the host was quick to reply and help fix the issue.

5 Star Property in a beautiful place!

Wonderful property on a picture of Creek in Urbanna, Virginia. We enjoyed our entire weekend thoroughly for oyster festival. The house is immaculate and well appointed and the beds were very comfortable and you can tell the owners put a lot of sweat equity into their renovations. We will be back!

Spent a weekend here with friends and it was great. The only reason we rate it 4 stars instead of 5 is because due to an unforeseen maintenance issue, the pool was not accessible for the duration of the stay. The host was able to provide pool passes for the town pool located around the corner from the house and was able to help us out on the cost per night since a main reason we booked was to be able to relax by our own pool. The dock was relaxing and provided great wildlife from herons and osprey to crabs and turtles. We had no luck fishing from the dock as the water is 3-4 feet deep during high tide and only a few inches at low tide. There are kyakas available to paddle out to deeper water. Town is also 4 mins away and offers dining options. We were also to find a few beaches within 40 mins to enjoy. Overall we had a great time! Brandy was a great host and great to work with.

Thank you so much for the detailed review! We were so sorry about the unexpected pool issue during your weekend, but we truly appreciate your flexibility and understanding while we sorted out the town pool passes and adjustment. I’m so glad you still had a great time taking in the river views, watching the osprey and herons, and making use of the kayaks! You and your friends were fantastic, respectful guests, and we’d love to welcome you back anytime—with a fully operational pool ready for you!

Beautiful, clean, hotel-like experience!

We loved our stay at Heron's Hideaway. The house was immaculately clean. The host provided lots of accommodations - plenty of clean towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap, pool towels, etc. Kim was great to work with and responded to all of our communication immediately. The house is a perfect spot to camp out and relax. We visited a couple small beaches within an hour of the house, and Williamsburg but could easily see staying at the house the whole time between the pool, dock, and kayaks.

little bit of paradise

This home was just amazing with great views, amenities, and was super clean. Home is very private and in a beautiful setting with not a bad view in the entire house. The house was super clean and inviting. Sitting by the pool and out on the boat dock watching blue herons and other birdlife was so peaceful. There is plenty of grass area to walk the dog. The home owner provided well written instructions for using items in the house. All appliances worked and all areas were well lit. The host, Kim, was so pleasant to deal with in making sure we were comfortable and answer any questions that we had. She even called us to let us know the house would be ready prior to the arrival time if we wanted to check in early. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable. and the kitchen ware was plentiful in great condition. This is a well planned home with great seating areas in the sun room and living room and the kitchen table with the water views were very nice. We came to relax, and this home certainly fit the bill.
