Location, location, location! Fully renovated duplex located in downtown Black Mountain (which was recently voted by Trip Advisor as one of the “Prettiest Small Towns in America to Vacation.”). Park your car and take a hike or ride your bike. This first floor unit is within walking distance to everything local in Black Mountain. Such as; restaurants, breweries, shops, craft stores, picnic areas, walking paths, greenways and town festivities. There is also a nearby golf course, park and lake. You will be in downtown Black Mountain. Walking distance to downtown, near I-40; Montreat College; Camp Merri-Mac; Katazuma; Warren Wilson College; 20 minute drive to Asheville; 30 min drive to Catawba Falls.
This first floor unit is a two bath one and a half bath newly remodeled with a washer /dryer for your private use. You can enjoy the front porch (with a table and swing) or use the shared backyard.
This unit can be rented in conjuction with adjoining second floor apartment VRBO #1984083.

Nice clean cozy place only two blocks from the center of town. Great little wooded neighborhood, it was easy to make the short walk to Lake Tomahawk with our pups to get them some exercise. Very helpful and responsive host, we highly recommend!

Great location short walk to downtown and the lake. The host was very friendly and accommodating. Outdoor space was nice with a grill and fire pit. It is a duplex with minimal noise from upstairs guests. We will definitely book this listing again.

Excellent location, comfortable unit

We were able to book both units in this duplex for a family holiday gathering. Certainly, we could not have found anything better located in Black Mountain. As the property description indicates, we were just five minutes from the center of this lovely small town and five minutes from Lake Tomahawk Park. All of us, including our dogs, enjoyed our stay in Take-a-Hike.

Super Clean, perfect location

This is the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. I’m mean CLEAN! Somebody give that cleaning person a raise. My mom and I stayed for 2 nights and loved everything about this place. We were in the bottom unit. Walked everywhere. Beds were very comfortable with plush sheets. Would absolutely stay here again.

Very nice apartment - perfect for our hiking trip in the Black Mountain area of Ashville! Enjoyed walking to different places around town. Even found a great bakery nestled in the neighborhood on our walk to Lake Tomahawk! Host was very quick to respond prior to our trip and during it. Nice homebase that had everything we needed!

Tidy / thoughtful/prime location

This property was super tidy extremely thoughtful in detail for renter friendliness and perfect location. We enjoyed the clean unit , thoughtful details such as a first aid kit /ample firewood for the fire pit/ front porch swing and more. Walking distance to town and the ability to hear the church bells ringing from the property such a blessing. A gem of a place.

Great Location and Clean Property

We stayed at this property and really enjoyed cleanliness and closeness to the shops, restaurants and near by parks and hikes. Property is bit small but accommodates four people comfortably. The communication with property manager/owner was easy and clear. I would stay here again if I go to Asheville area

Great location-not great amenities

The location is outstanding! 1. I received an email just hours before check-in time to inform me that dogs can NOT stay in a crate unattended. No sightseeing without the dog? Why not put that in the detail BEFORE booking? This is NOT A DOG FRIENDLY VRBO! 2. There was not one blade of grass on the entire property - it's all gravel. NOT OKAY. 3. The freezer had no ice maker and there are no ice trays. BIG NOT OKAY. 4. The a/c did not cool the bedrooms-bring your own fan. 5. Although it is advertised as a @ bedroom VRBO, there was an extra fee for using the second bedroom- WTH! Black Mountain is beautiful but I will go to the Hampton Inn before coming here again.

We stayed here last year and were thrilled to be able to stay here again. We especially enjoy being able to walk to Lake Tomahawk and all the downtown shops. Great overall experience.

What a weekend!

Perfect couple of days! Would not change a thing! Place was better than advertised, clean , close to DT. Just wonderful. Can’t wait to come back Ken. When we do , we’ll get other friends to stay upstairs too.

CLEANEST PROPERTY!!

I have many good things to say about our stay here but the one thing that stood out the most was that this was the cleanest property I have ever stayed at! Not a speck of dirt or dust to be found. The host was easy to reach and very accomodating. There are extra blankets and towels. The bed was comfortable. There are built in USB ports on the nightstands. The kitchen seemed well stocked with a nice gas stove although we did not get an opportunity to use it. The location was perfect for us to go exploring in town. I would definitely stay again if the opportunity arose.

The home was clean and well cared for. We brought our dog. They even have a dog play yard! Location was perfect! We walked everywhere - to Starbucks, breakfast, shopping and even a nearby lake.

Location and access to Black Mountain was excellent

Sorry but the front porch overlooking gravel stone versus lawn and just 15 yards from busy street was not enjoyable. The overhead lighting should be on dimmers. Never the less the location served us well as we were visiting to purchase a lot to build.and we’re successful.

Hi Ruth sorry you were disappointed with the view. Clearly you must have not looked at the photos of what you were renting or read the description. The house is in DOWNTOWN Black Mountain as described; walking distance to everything. The pictures clearly show it's a gravel driveway. You are the first person to complain since we have had our rental even after we allowed your dog to stay at no cost (you welcome by the way, no mention of that right?). Nor did you mention that this is a brand new apartment with brand new furniture, we spared no expense towards comfort.

Immaculate and Convenient

This was the most perfect place too stay while visiting Black Mountain. The condo was perfectly clean and had every thing we needed., and was a short walk to all of downtown. Highly recommend!

We so enjoyed our stay at Take A Hike. The location you can’t beat walking distance to the lake, shops and restaurants. The unit was spotless! I’m pretty picky about where my family stays and we would book this unit again tomorrow if we could! Loved it!

My husband is a native of Black Mountain, I moved here 10 years ago. From the time I first came to Black Mountain I fell in love with it. I love the community, restaurants and the outdoors. Our community is beautiful, always perfectly landscaped and town square is decorated to match the season. Everyone is hospitable and most of the businesses are pet friendly. The weather is mild enough yet we still experience all the seasons. It is the perfect place to vacation and just relax.

Black Mountain is the front porch of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We love this property due to its location. It is walking distance to downtown Black Mountain, 20 mins East of Asheville, and about 30 mins from Asheville Regional Airport. Once you arrive here you can park your car and walk everywhere.
