This is in a large Camp Resort in the beautiful Northwest Indiana close to Lake Michigan and National Park.
The Resort has 940 sites, a 22 Acre Lake we are directly on, 4 pools, beaches, fishing (no License needed), boat rentals, Mini Golf, Tennis, Basketball, and Volleyball courts plus more items to rent.

Campground is next to I94 and train tracks, some traffic noise is part of this campground experience.

You will receive all access/address information 2 days prior to arrival.
24 hour attendant at Main gate will need Booking Guest to show ID and be the driver into campgrounds.

This Park Model has 1 private bedroom, 1 full bathroom, a kitchen with full size fridge. Outdoor seating for many with a fire pit. Back deck overlooking the lake with a gorgeous view. There is not lake access from property, but can easily access from other side of lake. The Hot Water tank is small , there are extra comfort stations throughout the campground with extra showers/toilets/ and coined laundry facilities. The property has a window air conditioning unit for cold air, and a space heater for heat. This spot is very family friendly just ready to make amazing memories!

Prior to your stay, we require you to complete a pre-arrival form, upload a valid government ID (drivers license, passport, state ID) and sign and agree to our rental conditions.

Overall stay was good. Worked out well for our group. Could not use the pull out couch it was broken or bent and uncomfortable. However, an air mattress worked out fine in that area. Everything else worked well. The outdoor seating area worked out good for extra space.

This was by far one of the best camping experience we have had! Our 10 year old didn’t want to leave, he said “I love my little sleeping room it is just my size!” Our two teenagers lived cruising around the camp ground and joining the golf cart parades! The cabin was clean and cozy, we had dinner by the lake and made a fire. There were enough towels for the 5 of us for our beach days! We will definitely be coming back.

Cute and cozy place to stay. We rented as a group of 5 adults and 3 children (6-11) just for a place to sleep to attend a cubs game. Quick drive to the train that takes you into Chicago. Parking 2 vehicles was a bit tight but manageable. Children enjoyed the lake and what little fishing they were able to do. We had everything we needed including plenty of firewood. We appreciated the ample supply of towels, I packed my own and never had to use any. We didn’t get to check out the amenities due to our tight schedule but hope to in the future as it seemed like there was alot to do just at the campground. We plan to make this a yearly event and hope to snag this place again!

The property was pretty clean inside and nice and cool! Outside the patio furniture was dirty. I would actually rent this again except it is WAY TOO LOUD between the expressway and the busy frieght trains that roll through every 15 minutes between 9pm & 3am. Can't hear a person talk when sitting outside and the home shakes a bit when trains come by.You should also put a box fan upstairs - in the summer it is way too hot up there, even with the air conditioning full blast. (We ended up buying one for our stay) The pull out couch is very uncomfortable - get a new one.That being said, excellent location and we were visited by turtles down below in the lake every day! We were basically there to sleep, so I would still give a thumbs up.

Pics were a little misleading. Lock code was not working upon check in. However, Lisa was very quick to respond to my call and quickly got us an upgrade. Also had no issues changing our entrance/parking pass to the resort after upgrading. All in all in was a pleasant stay.

So the mobile home situated on a lake shore in a nice, busy camp site is beautiful. Having breakfast sitting out back was wonderful. Everything was spotlessly clean and it was a great base for the State and National Parks nearby as well as close enough to Chicago. It is close to a very busy main road and so it is noisy outside. The fire pit is very cool and there is an ample supply of logs. We had absolutely no issues and the communication from the property manager was fantastic. Thank you.

As a host she was great but whoever did the property managment did a poor job. The hot water wasnt turned on, Blinds were broken, and vobwebs were throughout. When issues were brought up the host took care of it promptly.

Great stay, but a little noisy.

We had a great stay at the Funky Turtle. The house was clean and just enough space for my family of 5. The house is close to campground bathrooms if the occasional extra bathroom is needed. We enjoyed the fire pit, use of the grill, and sitting on the porch. Our only complaint is about the noise but it was clear from the map that the campground was located near an interstate. While sitting outside you can hear the noise from the interstate and close by trains. However, inside was much quieter. We also visited during a holiday week. The campground was very busy and noisy (despite the sound restrictions) on the holiday, but after that there were fewer campers and it was much quieter. We loved watching the fish and turtles swimming near the property. We would definitely recommend this house for anyone wanting to get away for a bit.

Not thrilled with our stay. I should have read the two reviews it had. Issues with hot water and watering draining in the shower. After we heard back from our host we were told how to relight the pilot light on the hot water heater. So after the first days cold shower I was thrilled to be getting a hot shower on day two, but that was a negative. After I was in the shower and started, I ran out of hot water in about 2 minutes. Come to find out the pilot light went out during the night again. This became an ongoing problem our entire stay. Then on top of that what water you do have it just stands in the tub and backs up on your feet (gross). The noise is certainly a problem between the highway and railroad tracks if you are a light sleeper or are waiting a quiet peaceful setting. Also if you are wanting to walk down to the lake from your camp, this isn’t your spot. It is very steep and the steps that were installed years ago are all rotten and closed off so no one gets hurt. A positive is that the place was very clean.

This is a trailer, in a trailer park - not a house. Don’t be deceived by the photos. For the price and all the extra fees we paid we could have spent less and had 2 hotel rooms that are quiet and have functional bathrooms with a shower that provides hot water. While the management company was very responsive and has done a nice job keeping this property clean, the property itself was not at all what we expected. The property location is very close to the highway and an active train track. There is a lot of background noise from both- I had to use earplugs to sleep. The trailer is cutely decorated, and has a nice fire pit outside, which we used. There is a small kitchen that is functional, which we also used. The sleeping arrangements were ok - we had a group of 4 kids and 2 moms. The kids used the loft where there are 4 single beds. The loft has only ~4 ft ceiling, so you do have to crawl when moving around. One mom slept in the 1 bedroom and the other on the couch. There is AC, which was great, although the kids said it was stuffy/ hot in the loft. There is a small bathroom with a shower, however, as noted earlier, none of us had hot water for our shower, not even the first person that used it. The tub also did not drain well. Overall, we were comfortable and the accommodations were better than camping, but that’s about all I can say. I would not return and am happy we were only there for a single night.

It would be dishonest to not be honest. The host was very responsive and for this I am grateful. HOWEVER!In the description it states "Campground is next to I94 and train tracks, some traffic noise is part of the camping experience" it also states "Peaceful setting" which couldn't be farther from the truth. The noise is 24/7 from I94 is constant and so loud it can not be drowned out by air conditioner and fans. Reads 75-90 on a docemeter which would require hearing protection in any work setting. The freight train across the "lake" runs every hour on the hour 24/7 and shakes the trailer. No curtains to block out neighboring lights. Couch had about a foot gap between the bed insert and couch frame, so when you sat on it, the cushions sunk in severly leaving your legs resting on the sofa frame. The pots provided in the kitchen had teflon floating in my food due to severe scratching. There were no measuring devices and we had to purchase many common items that a "fully equipped" kitchen should have had. The next door property, visible from the back decking, is trashed with discarded "junk" in the yard and on their decking, that coupled with the delapitated decking rotting below the decking of the VRBO we were renting made me feel that I was staying in the ghetto portion of a low end trailer park. Seriously would never rent here again. Hope this saves someone else from experiencing the same.
