Most relaxing place you’ll find! You can only hear birds & wind. Cabin located in the middle of PRIVATE, all to yourself, 30 acres of wooded land with 2 miles of wide & mowed hiking trails. Onsite 4 person dry or wet sauna. Walk-in 2 person therapeutic 28-jet tub. 3 bedroom, sleeps 6 (1 king, 1 queen, 1 queen sleeper sofa in study), 2 bath. Stand alone single family home / log cabin. Trails are great for hiking, wildlife watching, cross country skiing, 4 wheelers / side-by-side, and snowmobiling.*

You will have the entire home and land to yourself. You will be the only people on the property and there’s no one in sight. 100% privacy.

Features: fully furnished & stocked with dishes, cookware, kitchen essentials, linens, toiletries, etc.; main floor lined with cedar walls & maple floor; fireplace in cedar lined study; HD new washer & dryer; AMAZING WILDLIFE; attached garage; 20’ x 30’ pole barn to park larger vehicles or boats, if necessary (ask in advance).

Internet & Netflix provided.

WINTER MONTHS - snow removal service for driveway and side walk is included in rate.
NOVEMBER - JANUARY - cabin will be decorated for the holidays.
5-10 minutes from Lake Michigan, Portage Lake, and Bear Lake.

20 minutes to Manistee and 50 minutes to Traverse City.

PETS WELCOME! Please make sure your pet is up to date on shots (rabies, etc.), has some form of flea & tick medication, and has a microchip. There is a per pet / per stay fee to cover extra cleaning costs, etc. Maximum 3 pets and there’s no size or weight limit for dogs.

Local attractions: golf (Arcadia Bluffs 15 min away), beaches (10 min away), horseback riding, skiing, snowmobiling, restaurants, shopping, Amish store with homemade furniture. Please refer to Welcome Renters Guide for more details, including Sauna and Jet Tub instructions.

*You may bring your own vehicles. We are not liable for any injuries or damages whatsoever and you will be asked to sign a waiver to that effect. You will also be asked to provide a copy of valid licenses and titles. If you wish to bring ATV, etc, please let us know when booking and we’ll email you the waiver.

Lovely property and dogs certainly welcome and happy but bed not comfortable upstairs, dishwasher didn’t function properly (and not repaired when requested), and home not nearly as clean as you hope with rental.We damaged an item and paid for that, appropriately. We accidentally took keys when left, returned them, and paid to ship her backup keys to home.Owner seemed disorganized and not efficient when challenges arose (e.g., no idea how to use keyless entry lock on her own property). Owner incessantly contacted us via text amid challenges but didn’t address dishwasher or cleanliness in any way.We loved property but communication with owner was challenging. We should have directly reported issues to VRBO when occurred (rather than owner via text); our mistake for sure and lesson learned. Otherwise, a very special property in a beautiful part of Michigan.

We were very happy at Edie's cottage. It's isolated -- which is exactly what we wanted -- and we loved that there were so many acres of woods with trails where we could walk with our dogs. We were grateful that the kitchen was so well-outfitted, and we were delighted with the tv and hot tub. The cottage is also beautifully decorated. We can recommend it heartily for anyone wanting to "get away from it all" and enjoy complete relaxation in a very welcoming space. A lovely experience in every way!

Paradise

We found exactly what we wanted: a log cabin in the woods with no people around so that the dogs could run free. We took lots of excursions to nearby towns, hikes, restaurants, and beaches. What a great part of Michigan!

Memorial Day weekend

We loved the property and the house. Problem with the master bath sinks but we just didn’t use them. The balcony was a lovely place to sit and read. We had a fire in the fire pit one night. Never heard anyone else around. The trails were lovely a couple of fallen trees but we went around. The alarm system was slightly annoying, beeping every time someone went in or out but we left the side door open with the screen closed while we were there and solved that problem. The gas station in town is shockingly well supplied for anything we forgot. Great weekend.

Perfect for us

The property was beyond our expectations. Our 2 service dogs had chances to be “off duty” while walking the trails with us for miles every day. The home itself was beautiful and comfy.

Great private getaway!

My family and I stayed here for our ski trip to Chrystal mountain, and it was a we fly as described. Very private with 30 acres and the cabin was super cozy! We spent most of our time in the cozy den downstairs with the fire on and watching the snow fall. Exactly what we were looking for and appreciated the stay.

White Christmas

We spent the Christmas Holiday at this house with our black lab. It was lovely. It snowed right as we arrived, so it was absolutely beautiful. The trails were so fun to walk around while our dog ran and played. The fireplace downstairs was cozy. The hot tub and sauna were nice also. The beds were super comfortable. We will be back to check it out in Summer!

Lovely Getaway in the Woods

This house in the woods is a gem. It is very clean and well kept. All the kitchen appliances are nearly new. The art on the walls throughout the house is attractive. The owner provided many amenities such as books, fire pit, sauna, and a two-person jet tub.The large kitchen had sufficient dishes and cookware. We used it for a long weekend to view the trees in Autumn colors. Although the house is secluded, it is not far from Manistee, Lake Michigan, and various hiking trails. The house and setting exceeded our expectations.

If you like seclusion.

If you like seclusion this is the place. Nice house, with walking trails on property, good location, only 5 minutes from town, 10 minutes from dog friendly beaches, 20 minutes from Manistee. We would stay here again.

Our 2nd time back!

We love this property, as it's now our second time coming. The VRBO ad listing was exactly as described. The house had a few nice changes to the furniture compared to last year. My Mom and my Son equally enjoyed the property as much as myself. We made good use of the trails with our ATV's as well! Not as expected

Wood box for sauna was empty and directions in the booklet were not accurate as to where to find the wood. Finally got ahold of owner through Vrbo and she got someone out there. Be aware that the pet deposit is a fee and even if dogs don’t shed you still have to pay it. Also place sleeps 6 but have to pay additional fee over 3 people even if 4th is a baby. Not happy with the stay since lawn was not cut and also had to ask for more wood for outside fire pit

Lovely Property & Stay

I stayed here for about four nights with my partner and made a somewhat last minute decision to book, but the experience and communication was wonderful. The directions and given explanation was perfect and the home was so nicely maintained, so it felt cozy and away from the world while also so accessible and updated for anyone who doesn't want a "rustic" experience - you could tell Edie's father put so much love and care into the home.

I am so happy to share this special place with you! When my dad retired, he built this cabin and spent many years cultivating the land (planted over 2,000 conifers), always had a full garden, and loved to chop trees and make firewood. When he wasn’t busy outside, he spent time in his workshop creating furniture for himself and his friends. His signature piece is the handmade chess table. He also loved sitting on the porch watching his forest pets!
