Captain's Quarters er en fremragende central beliggenhed i Santa Cruz; beliggende midtvejs mellem Santa Cruz Boardwalk og Capitola, og kun en kort gåtur til Santa Cruz Yacht Harbour. Køb din friske fisk lokalt fra Stagneros båd på kajen, og nyd at forberede et måltid i enten fuldt udstyret køkken, eller bare slappe af og stoppe på en af de mange restauranter og natteliv i nærheden. This property is pet friendly. This is the best house from Half Moon Bay to Monterey. The house has 270 degrees of windows to take in the beach views. Sunsets are gorgeous, the light house is great and the beach is beautiful. We have stayed here two times and will stay there again and again!Btw- this last time we had a seal a sea otter and two whale sightings- all close enough to see from the deck. Did I mention the deck? It is fantastic!

House was definitely somewhat outdated but was very clean and well equipped. The real reason to stay here is the fantastic location! With the points to the East and West of the property access to this section of beach is very limited, especially during mid to high tide. In addition the private beach area is great especially for young children.

Celebrating Life Achievements

Spent two days celebrating the kids graduation from high school and becoming adults (18th birthday). Great location and amazing views. Enjoyed walking the beach with the dogs and taking in the local scene.

Spectacular views and great beach access

We spent five nights here for Thanksgiving. We were overwhelmed by the views from both inside the house and from the deck. The beach access was easy and great for dog owners/lovers. Kitchens and bathrooms are in need of some updating, but that's easy to overlook because of the location of the property and the other common areas/bedrooms. I highly recommend for people who are ready to spend time enjoying the beauty of Santa Cruz beaches and who want to see the most spectacular sunsets imaginable.

Fantastic property right in the beach

Great location and amenities. Although some of the property is outdated. It is clean and very well supplied. Beds were comfortable, bedding was clean. Only negative was the shower in the master bath has very low water pressure and the drain has some sharp sections that could cut someone. Other than that this was a fantastic vacation rental that I would refer to anyone and would stay at again

Disappointed

The only complaint I have is the the bedroom I stayed in had huge stains in the badly worn carpet. The shower was rust and crud on bottom of door. I didn’t d not feel comfortable taking a shower. Given the price of the property I was disappointed in the condition of my room. The location is great, but I would not stay here again unless I knew that bedroom was cleaned up.

I have many criticisms of this home. The house itself is beautiful, and I would definitely return. It was not clean when we arrived so I had to clean it before my guest arrived. Carpets filthy in need of cleaning.Bathroom shower moldy and drain cover loose and could cut your foot if your not careful. Glassed in kitchen needed to be washed before using...The property managers were nice and responded quickly. But more attention needs to be taken to this lovely house before it gets worse. Ongoing maintaince is necessary in such a wonderful spot. Thank you and I would return and hopefully all will be taken care of

Very disappointed!

The house is beautiful on the outside in a great location with an incredible view and a great beach. However, we felt that it is expensive for a view and two updated bedrooms. We were very disappointed because none of the pictures show the following: - Two clean kitchens but very old, with two ovens but no baking trays or oven dishes. - Three clean but very small and old bathrooms, with holes and patches in the walls. - Very used furniture in the dining room and especially in the family room. It is not showing because the sofa has been changed. It was very hard to feel comfortable and to relax. - Stained carpet by the pool table and stained sheets and pillow cases. - Two out of the four lounging chairs on the deck are broken.

Stephanie, thank for taking the time to provide your feedback from your stay at the Captain's Quarters. We are sorry that this property did not meet with your expectations. In response to your comments: - The two full kitchens are fully equipped and functional with plenty of baking trays and oven dishes, pots and pans, flatware, glasses, cups, etc. (We have added more trays and serving dishes since your stay with us in February). - To clarify the bathroom configuration, there are 3 full bathrooms in the house. One is between the two bedrooms in the new part of the house and features a separate large bathtub, tile shower stall, and vanity area (a large bathroom). At the time of your stay, the towel rack had come off of the wall and was in the process of being repaired. There are no longer any holes and patches apparent in this bathroom. The second bathroom is large and is en suite off the master bedroom in the center of the house. This bathroom has a tile shower stall and two vanity areas. The third bathroom in the old part of the house has a small tile shower stall with vanity area. - There is a good quality (but yes, worn), light gray, Italian leather sectional sofa in the living room, in addition to two wing-back chairs (in very good condition), and a sleeper-sofa with seating for up to 8. We sorry to learn that you were not able to relax and feel comfortable in this space. - There are two rooms in the house that are carpeted and we have the carpets professionally cleaned every couple of months, and have done so since your stay in February. - The owner's have recently purchased a comfortable and attractive outdoor furniture set for the deck which features an outdoor sofa and two lounge chairs (seating for 6) in additional to the patio set that seats up to 6 for outdoor dining, etc. The location and unobstructed views at the Captain's Quarters are unparalleled, making it one of the most sought after and popular vacation rentals in Santa Cruz! Beautiful Beach location in desperate need of attention.

Let me first start by saying the view can not be beat. Gorgeous. The interior of the house desperately needs some attention. Its like staying at a frat house that they bought new comforters for. The carpet is stained, the kitchen is VERY under supplied - and the "Sleeps 8" factor is assuming 2 people are sleeping in the living room on an old, uncomfotable pull out couch. The wifi is very slow & the cords and modem are sloppily placed on a kitchen counter. I've rented many properties on VRBO all over the US and this was, by far, the most run down house. Do not plan on staying here with the intention of making meals, you will be VERY disappointed by the kitchen situation. Even the coffee maker didn't have everything needed to brew coffee. There was one wine opener, but the cork screw was broken off. The property management folks are very unorganized and unprofessional, (slow to respond & the different employees don't seem to communicate with each other). The house is in a great location, with a trip to Ikea & Crate & Barrel they could really make the place much better. But, like I said in the beginning, the view & the location are amazing - if you are 6, 30 year old, surfers that just want a place to crash & order take out.

Beautiful View, good beach access

Beautiful view, convenient beach access. Spacious home. "Welcome Binder" Instructions left for renters is a long list of "Don't do or else", which redsults in kind of a put off for feeling welcome. House wiring is suspect (up to code?) Binder instructions even warn not to use microwave and oven at same time because it'll trip a circuit breakert! Also we discovered one can't use a hair dryer & curling iron at same time in bathroom as non-GFI outlet trips a circuit breaker...literature describes where to find two circuit breaker panels. Searching around finally found a 3rd panel hidden in a closet and able to reset circuit breaker. elect panel in a "closet" in garage has junk piled in front of it making it difficult to access. Circuit breakers are not labelled so you have to try them all until you hit the right one. Limited amount of bath,and hand towels in bathrooms. No towels in kitchens at all. It wasn't until we prepared to leave and per instructions, took used towels to put in the washing machine that we discovered the clothes dryer jam packed with towels, apparently left in the dryer by previous renters. Oven door in main kitchen does not close completely making it difficult to properly bake. There is no working can opener to be found in either kitchen. There are TV's but no DVRs for playing music or movie CD's. The only fireplace is empty, painted over and has gas pipe capped off. A gas log fireplace ensemble would have been nice for in the evenings. One bed was made with only one bedsheet. Minor things, but in sum total they detract from what otherwise could've been a perfect stay.

Loved this property. Glad we came before tourist season started. So busy. 3rd shower didn’t work.

Despite 3rd shower not working, loved it. Could use more bathroom linens. More hand towels. No screens on doors; maybe other properties don’t have them either? These are little things. Would love to visit again!!!! Family get together- damn kids all moved to west coast ( we from Michigan). Where was the washer/dryer? Thanks

This property is amazing, I can't wait to go back. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The house was perfect for our small family. We spent the entire time on the deck enjoying the ocean.

A view you can’t beat and a wonderful place to gather with family and friends!

With two bedrooms overlooking the beach and a full wrap around deck facing the ocean, this is a location that really can’t be beat. We love coming here with our family and friends to relax, cook and watch the dogs and children play on the beach below. Planning to make it a yearly tradition!

The reason why you would stay here would be to stay on the beach and have a view.

We were thrilled with the location and view, it really was wonderful. It's great to be able to walk to the Crows Nest. We were disappointed with the actual house itself as it hasn't been maintained very well in the inside and the picture of the outside from the beach makes it look quite nice. The master bedroom and guest room on the somewhat updated side were quite nice. The third interior room was very old and outdated. The carpet in that room was old and dirty and didn't smell clean. The only shower that worked with any volume was near the master. The other two showers barely had any flow and were useless for showering. The kitchen doesn't seem to have ever been updated. This house could be incredible with a few upgrades and touches. I think we had hoped for a little less of a beater at the price we paid for the holiday weekend.

Better than my expectation!!! Thank you...

When I walked in to the house I got teary eyed with happiness looking at the view and knowing immediately that the home was better than what I was expecting. We rented this home for my family honoring my son's graduation from high school and moving onto his next chapter with the Army. We had a family gathering on Saturday day/evening with family and friends that came by to wish him well. The house was just perfect!!! The house is large with 2 kitchens and 2 family rooms and the deck is amazing. The pics online are old and do not let you know that much has been updated. The original kitchen and original bathroom have been updated but are really quite charming. I would love to know the history of the property. One suggestion....better BBQ, other than that really can't wait to rebook for next year and make traditions with this property. I said to my Mom that this house is such a Happy House because so many happy memories can be created here for so many families. Thank you for making your family home a rental for other families to enjoy....Just loved it!!!

This is a great place for a few families to relax. The place overlooks a beautiful swimming beach and both the beach and house are dog friendly. Our dog loves the porch, the beach and house. You can hear the crash of the waves and it makes for great sleeping. You can monitor kids from above on the porch as they play on beach. Two kitchens and 3 bathrooms, 1 nicely remodeled makes for nice amenities...But the views baby, the views. I would gladly go back to this place a third time.

What a disappointment

For the money paid to stay here for a week, we were extremely disappointed. The master bedroom Capet is dirty and soiled. The master bedroom shower has a metallic shower caddy which is metallic and rusty. A drawer in the master bedroom has a knob missing. The shade in the the master bedroom does not have a drawstring. Deck windows dirty with bird poop and cobwebs almost in every corner. Master bedroom bedstead light did not work. Blender in main kitchen did not work. Hand held can opener did not work. Washing machine did not work...would not rinse or spin.Shredded BBQ cover. Toilet paper as thin as tissue paper! Rotting deck boards next to BBQ. Poor track lighting. Lack of TV in one bedroom. Lack of window shades although hardware is attached in kitchen dining area. Sliding bath doors do not lock for privacy. Unable to locate iron. Numerous calls to property manager remained unanswered. Non functioning fireplace. I understand this is a beach house, for rental purposes, however the owners need to address these issues. One good thing, beautiful view, but I can get that here in Southern California with just a hours drive.
