Everything about this place is incredible, from the space itself, to the amenities, to the hosts! Highly recommend anyone looking for a truly memorable vacation/short term rental to try booking here. We will definitely be back!

The hosts, Charles and Verla, made this getaway special and warm with their attention to detail from the house to the amenities. Everything you can want and more. We specifically loved the jacuzzi and the large window in the living room where we could enjoy nature’s critters enjoying the bird feeder. The lake is a small walk down for a good outdoor experience. Overall, everything was near the area if you wanted it but this Hidden Gem was the real entertainment. Definitely recommend we will be coming back!

Verla & Chuck were such amazing host! They go above and beyond! We came down for a birthday get away and they not only setup some balloons but were sweet enough to make a cake slice and card! They checked in through the app to make sure everything was going good during our stay and had many amenities available for us. They are very detail oriented and thorough during our stay! To top it all off they even offered us a crock pot cinnamon roll for our departure and it was fantastic. Once visiting again will definitely be a place we would love to come back too!

R Hidden Gem truly lives up to its name. The cabin was spotless and very well maintained, which made the stay instantly comfortable and relaxing. The views were absolutely beautiful, peaceful, scenic, and perfect for unwinding. Everything felt cozy and thoughtfully set up, making it an ideal getaway. If you’re looking for a clean place with a great view and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, this is definitely the spot. Would absolutely stay here again.

Chuck and Verla were fantastic! Very sweet and accommodating. This place is a little slice of heaven. The attention to detail, respect for privacy, cleanliness, all the supplies you would need, everything was fantastic. Our stay was made very personal with pictures set out of my partner and I. It was a weekend used to connect with one another and that is exactly what we did, thanks to their help. I would stay here again on a heartbeat! Thank you so much Chuck and Verla!

"R" Hidden Gem is absolutely the cleanest VRBO we have ever rented. The hosts, Chuck & Verla, forgot NOTHING! Anything you could possibly think of that you needed from home was there. Open drawers, cabinets & find little treasures (right down to a flat iron ladies :-)). They even made a book listing the best restaurants (by specialty), the best attractions to see & experiences to have. The views there are beautiful. There is so much to take in & do right on the property that you needn't leave if you choose not to. The specialty touches that were added were beyond us. We celebrated my husband's B-Day & when we arrived there was a B-Day balloon, a beautiful/thoughtful card, carrot cake in the fridge and special touches everywhere. We were so Blessed to stay there & would not stay anywhere else in Big Bear. If we could give Chuck & Verla more than 5 Stars we certainly would!!! As I read in another review, "we arrived as strangers and left as friends/family". Don't stay anywhere there except "R" Hidden Gem. You will be so happy you did! Chuck & Verla, we love you guys & are so grateful/thankful we stayed on your lovely property!!! ************************************************************

What an amazing visit! Chuck and Verla seriously thought of everything. My husband and I had such a good time being active and biking on the path around the lake, as well as lounging around the property enjoying the peace and quiet. This was quite literally the cleaning rental I’ve ever stayed in, and they also included everything you may have forgotten to pack or need for cooking. Will definitely return if we stay in Big Bear again!

Property was extremely well maintained. Property was better than depicted in the pictures. Managers though close by stayed away allowing for a completely private experience. Managers went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best it could be.

The hosts of this property were the most accommodating and welcoming hosts I've ever met -- extremely friendly, added personal touches in preparation for our arrival, and made it clear to us that they were always available if we needed anything. The property itself was extremely well-kept and well stocked (even minor things like toiletries were available, which was a first in my experience). It was quiet and peaceful, comfortable, and there was a wide array of amenities both inside and outside, as advertised. We'd absolutely stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at the “R” Hidden Gem. My wife and I stayed for a peaceful, romantic getaway from city life. Mission accomplished. The accommodations were fantastic. We really enjoyed sitting by the fire pit, hot tubbing under the stars, napping in the hammocks, and working on our short game on the putting green. When I choose a Vrbo place to stay, cleanliness is always high on my list. This cleanliness of the Hidden Gem was off the charts-cleanest I’ve ever seen. The beds were very comfortable. The climate control was perfect, and the small kitchen had everything you need. As for the hosts, the reviews don’t lie. Verla and Chuck were the best. They met us when we arrived to explain everything about the property. After that, they leave you alone to enjoy yourself. They are fully available, should you need ANYTHING - which we didn’t. Verla provided some very special keepsakes when we arrived. Everything you could possibly need for your stay is provided. I tried finding something they overlooked, but I was stumped. This place truly is a gem. Selfishly, I’m reluctant to give such a grave review, because I fear it will be hard to come back if people find out this special place. Nonetheless, the hosts need to be rewarded for such excellence. We had a great weekend and look forward to returning. Thanks Verla and Chuck!

The perfect getaway

This is our favorite place to stay in Big Bear when we can get away without kids. It is clean and cozy. It is stocked with all you can want and the attention to detail is second to none! Verla and Chuck are so sweet and accommodating.

This was one of my most favorite places to stay. The host was thoughtful, and friendly. The place was very clean and had everything you would need. The scenery and amenities made it easy to relax and enjoy every moment of our stay.

Anniversary Celebration-

Verla and Chuck made this wedding anniversary celebration of our fourty three years together so special. We have never been to Big Bear before and we wanted a place to relax but also have some fun as well. This place is so much more then what we expected. So clean and beautifully decorated. If you have any questions or concerns Verla and Chuck are close enough to take care of your questions or concerns but far enough away where you feel you are completely nestled away in the beautiful mountains of Big Bear. Amazing Peaceful Weekend

The listing had it spot on! I booked to have a romantic weekend with my girlfriend. It did not disappoint! It was private with great amenities and a spectacular view of trees, birds and sky.

Best Stay Ever

You’re not going to find a better place for two in Big Bear. The hosts are welcoming, super responsive, and excellent at getting all the details right. The cabin is immaculate and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. It’s secluded and very quiet, perfect for a romantic getaway. The hot tub was clean and extra relaxing. Location is close to everything Big Bear offers. We highly recommend “R” Hidden Gem!

This location is in a fun and bustling area, close to the main hub of the lake (Bike pedal path). You can hike, bike, or fish along the lakeside while you gaze at wildlife and views that will take your breath away. Two ski resorts are visible along with spectacular views of the mountain vistas and clear blue skies. It’s a fun place to meet other visitors or simply put on your headphones, set your playlist and ride or stroll to your tunes. You will truly enjoy this in the morning especially if you’re an early riser and desire peace and solitude.
