It’s Island Time! 3 story beach house w gated level for pups. Every room has its own deck where you can read in a hammock, practice yoga or relax under the stars. Fishermans delight- Under the house is a refrigerator, an outdoor shower, park style grill, picnic table and air compressor for airing back up.
Wanna get out? Walk to the beach in 5 minutes, 4WD Ramp 38 is 5 min away, Kite-board in the Pamlico Sound, visit Hatteras Light (visible from the rear deck) or catch a ferry and day trip to Ocracoke.
Renters enjoy shared (Olympic sized) pool and court access. New for 2024- two pickleball courts! OBX favorites are all within walking distance- Duck Donuts, LaFogata, Dicks Crab house. Or restock at Food Lion, Ace Hardware or Island Pharmacy.
New for 2024! New carpet and dining room furniture, plus new deck furniture.

Perfect Location and super helpful host

This is a beautiful property in the perfect location. Slept 7 Adults very comfortably and was very clean and well maintained. The Host John was very responsive to messages before our arrival and very accommodating. Would absolutely stay here again.

Family vacation

Sweet Emocean is a quaint home located in a beautiful, clean and calm neighborhood. Our family loved all the different views from each deck. The short walk to the beach was just perfect for our stay.

Absolutely Amazing

Communication with homeowners was perfect! Property was very clean, stocked with everything you would need for the week +, and spacious! They are pet friendly as well and my doggo loved it. Will definitely stay here again!!

We had a wonderful stay in this house! Great communication with the owners who made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Close to the beach, shopping and the pool. I loved the special touch of a dog bowl just for our little pup!

Great neighborhood

This home was perfect for our family of four and dog. It is located in a private, quiet neighborhood on the sound side but still within a short walking distance to the beach. It has a unique reverse floor plan with everything you need for a great vacation. The owner is super friendly and responsive.

First timers at Outer Banks

The property was great we spent most of time on the top floor. Started the week with rain but eventually the weather turned around. Spent every minute on the beach, it was beautiful.

Perfect home away from home

We enjoyed the booking process from start to finish. This beach house felt so special. It was close enough to walk to the beach, the pool and the grocery store. It was super clean. I can’t wait to come back again and again. The owners put a lot of effort into making the home special.

Our first time staying in Avon. It was amazing!! SweetEmOcean is a beautiful home and exactly as pictured. Spacious, clean, with great views. John was so wonderful answering all of our questions. Awesome host!! We will definitely be back ☀️

Best vacation yet!

The house mouse was everything we expected.. and even more, but what made the stay even more enjoyable is the communication with the owners, knowing they were right there for any questions or concerns. Also, with hurricane Debby trying to come through, the owners made sure we were safe, and had additional help if needed. Most certainly a 5 star rating! We will be back!

Nice Family Vacation

Had minor issues which were addressed as soon as I reached out. The house was as nice as pictured. Not quite as close to the beach as we though but close enough. The bridge on the path to the beach had TONS of turtles which we all enjoyed watching them swarm when they saw people. Overall happy with stay!

Perfect for our group

Great place to stay with all the amenities that you would have at your own house! Great communication between me the host. It’s close to everything you need. House was clean and stocked with the necessities you need to get started! Perfectly setup for your pet also. We will definitely keep coming back .

Stay at sweet em ocean

We had a nice vacation here! Loved that the beach was right across the street. Avon is a nice town the beach was our favorite part even saw some dolphins and loved collecting shells on the beach and the bridge to get to the beach got to see a few turtles.The outdoor decks were nice to sit outside and relax and could see the ocean from a couple decks. My teenage kids loved that an ice cream truck came through the neighborhood every day. Hosts were very responsive. Thank you for stay!

Easter 2022

The house was really nice and inviting. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Beautiful views from decks on each level and all sides of the house, could see the ocean from the top deck which was nice since it was cool and very windy on Easter Sunday. The yard under the house if fully fenced-in which was great since we had dogs with us. The owners were incredible and extra responsive to our needs and requests. We highly recommend this house and if you are there in warmer weather, everything needed for a beach day was available.

Location location location

This place had it all! The location was great. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. It was a short walk to the beach but get the 4x4 pass because there are a lot of beach access ramps to choone from. We mostly went to ramp 44 because at the point there were lots of shells and we could watch people fish. We saw dolphins, turtles, and spinner sharks jumping completely out of the water. The owners were helpful with any questions we had. The place was very clean and comfortable. We saw many shooting stars right from the back deck. I would highly recommend this rental

Avon Calling!

Sweet Em-Ocean is a light, spacious property located close to the beach. We spent at least half of every day at the beach and the waves were so fun! The top floor of the house-where the kitchen and living room are, is flanked by three balconies so you feel like you’re on top of the world! The beds were clean and comfortable and everything was in good working order. Beware of the fridge door, however. It’s low to the floor and we all scraped the tops of our feet at least once! Would definitely return to Avon and Sweet Em-Ocean!

Fantastic week in OBX

This house was perfect for my family of 3. We had never been to OBX and were looking for a quiet area with easy beach access, and this fit the bill perfectly. It's a quick 5 minute walk to the beach, Duck Donuts (try the pina colada donut!), Food Lion and several other small stores. The home itself was well equipped, with plenty of cooking utensils (we cook 2/3 of our meals on vacation, so this was HUGE), and enough paper products to last throughout our whole stay. There were a couple of cooler nights where we were able to sit on the deck and enjoy the peaceful neighborhood. We had several deer visit the yard which we loved, but our dog was less enthusiastic lol (the neighborhood is extremely pet-friendly and everyone we met was so kind). We only had to contact the owners once, but they were lightning fast in their communication. The house has everything you need for a great day at the beach, including a cooler, beach chairs, body boards, etc. If we decide to come back to the Avon area, we would choose Sweet Emocean in a heartbeat!

Wonderful time

We had a wonderful time during our stay here. The property is in a cute neighborhood that is very nice for walks with a stroller. A few minute walk across the street to the beach made trips back and forth with little ones very convenient.

Weekend getaway

My wife and I just wanted a weekend away with our two sons and their girlfriends. It was just what we wanted. Had a Great time and will hopefully get the chance to do it again just for a little longer next time.

Our family has been on the Outer Banks since the 1960s, so when John was scheduled to work on the jughandle bridge in Rodanthe, we seized the opportunity to become residents. When Johns job was finished we decided to share our good fortune with vacationers. Someday we plan to return as retirees!
As a bakery owner, Dawn is a well known part of the Hampton Roads Va food community and is an accomplished mixed media artist as well.
Photos and art- Treasured family photos have been gathered from beaches all over the area. Dawns coastal paintings (and one famous throne) can be seen in the house including the surfboard sign out front. She has artwork placed in local galleries and gift shops. The art in the house are all prints, available for sale upon request.

Dawn’s grandparents built one of the original beach homes in Carova Beach and her grandfather founded the first fire department there. Her parents were residents in Currituck most of their lives as well. Being raised here means that saltwater also runs in your veins and we can’t imagine ever living too far from the ocean.
Johns family includes many generations of bridge builders, his son being the fourth generation to work on the Bonner (now Marc Basnight) bridge. We are proud of the difficult work that builders have done. They give vacationers access to paradise and provide evacuation routes for residents during storms.

Derfor er dette overnatningssted unikt

We aren’t sure why the original owner chose to build six intimate decks in an 1800 square-foot house but we love the fact that they did! It means we can open any door in the house, to extend our lives outside and bring in fresh air. You can hear the ocean, every day, from every room with natural light and the smell of salt water. It is heavenly.
