The Bay House: Historic Coastal Living Near Ocean Drive
Just steps from Ocean Drive, The Bay House is a charming single-story retreat where historic character meets modern comfort. Built in 1938 and thoughtfully updated, this bright and welcoming home features generous porches, mature gardens, French doors, and the relaxed character of an original Corpus Christi bay house.
Ideal for couples, small families, or friends traveling together, The Bay House offers a peaceful place to settle in while keeping you close to beaches, downtown, TAMU-CC, waterfront dining, and many of Corpus Christi’s favorite attractions.
Fall on the Coast brings warm sunny days, breezier evenings, quieter beaches, and wonderful porch weather. It’s a beautiful season for beach walks, outdoor dining, local events, or simply slowing down with coffee beneath the oaks.
Home Overview
The Bay House is a two-bedroom, one-bath home thoughtfully designed for comfort and easy coastal living.
Inside, you’ll find a welcoming living room, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable dining spaces, and plenty of natural light. Three sets of French doors open toward the back porch and patio, creating an airy connection between the home and gardens.
Whether you’re cooking together, enjoying a movie night, or relaxing after a day at the beach, the house is designed to feel comfortable and easy.
Sleeping Arrangements
The home accommodates up to six guests:
Main Bedroom: King bed with plush linens and a quiet, comfortable setting for unwinding at the end of the day.
Second Bedroom: Queen bed, ideal for family members or friends traveling together.
Dining Room Berths: Two built-in single daybeds are tucked into the dining room bay window, each with storage below and a cozy sailboat-cabin feel. They work especially well for children or additional guests.
Traveling with little ones? A pop-up crib and high chair are available upon request, so you can pack a little lighter.
Living Spaces
Kitchen: Fully equipped for everything from a quick breakfast before the beach to dinner at home with fresh Gulf seafood.
Dining Area: A bright and comfortable gathering space with the charming bay-window nook nearby.
Living Room: Designed for relaxing, with space for movie nights, games, conversation, or quiet evenings after exploring Corpus Christi.
Outdoor Living
Set on a spacious corner lot, The Bay House is surrounded on three sides by mature oak trees, established gardens, hedging, lawns, and coastal landscaping.
Front Porch: Shaded and peaceful—perfect for morning coffee or enjoying the bay breeze.
Back Porch: Sunny and open for reading, afternoon relaxing, evening drinks, or casual outdoor dining.
French Doors: Three sets connect the home to the back patio, filling the interior with natural light and fresh air.
Guests are also welcome to enjoy the additional landscaped green space between The Bay House and our neighboring Bay House II. This shared lawn provides even more room to enjoy the outdoors while the home and its immediate outdoor spaces remain private for your stay.
Traveling with Pets
We’re happy to welcome well-behaved dogs with prior approval.
The property is surrounded by mature hedging and landscaping but does not have a fully fenced yard. A large outdoor pet playpen is available upon request for supervised outdoor time while you relax on the porch or enjoy the garden.
Just let us know before arrival, and we’ll have it set up for you or ready in the covered carport.
Guest Access
You’ll have full, private access to the entire home, including both bedrooms, living spaces, kitchen, front and back porches, gardens, driveway, and covered carport.
There are no shared indoor spaces. The home and its immediate outdoor areas are yours to enjoy throughout your stay, and guests are also welcome to use the additional shared landscaped green space between our two Bay Houses.
Private parking is available in the driveway and covered carport, with room for a boat or trailer.

Our son, Zach, also helps care for The Bay House, so support is nearby if needed. We’re happy to share local recommendations and equally happy to give you plenty of space to relax and enjoy your stay.
The Neighborhood
The Bay House sits on a large corner lot just one block from Ocean Drive, one of Corpus Christi’s most scenic coastal drives.
The neighborhood is quiet, established, and pleasant for walking, with mature trees and steady bay breezes. Downtown attractions, the marina, beaches, TAMU-CC, and local dining are all just minutes away, while the house itself remains peaceful and tucked away from the busier parts of town.
Getting Around
Private parking is available on-site in the driveway and covered carport. Driving is the easiest way to explore Corpus Christi, and rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft are also readily available.
Ocean Drive is just a block away for scenic walks, runs, bike rides, and beautiful views across Corpus Christi Bay.
Things to Do Nearby
Beaches: Enjoy Corpus Christi’s bayfront or take a short drive to Mustang Island and Padre Island National Seashore.
Dining: Fresh Gulf seafood, neighborhood favorites, waterfront restaurants, and downtown dining are all within easy reach.
