New one bedroom, one bath cottage. Full kitchen.


- Welcome to The Ledges Resort & Marina! We are located directly on the St. Lawrence River across from Boldt Castle. We have views of the castle, Sunken Rock Lighthouse, and the main shipping channel. There are decks, docks, hammocks, and gazebos all across our six-acre property. You will find many beautiful spots to relax, read a book, take a walk, or go fishing. We have a large in-ground pool and deck area. Every cottage has its own fire-pit where you can warm up under the stars. We even provide the firewood! There are plenty of open lawn areas to play catch, lawn games, or just take a walk.
The Ledges offers a peaceful getaway with six acres of landscaped grounds along the water. While the grounds provide privacy and lots of space, we are not in a remote location. It’s a quick and easy walk downtown Alexandria Bay. We are close to all of the attractions. At the Ledges you have the best of both worlds, relaxation and convenience!

Perfect views, lovely property

Really enjoyed the property and grounds. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. And the cottage was adorable. We will be back.

We stayed in the Finch and loved it. Bed was super comfy and the shower is divine! I love the care and thoughtfulness that is put into every aspect of the cottages and the grounds. There is everything you need for cooking and a dishwasher! We brought our two small dogs, and we enjoyed exploring the property, especially by the docks. The fall decor is grogeous. Each cottage had its own pumpkin, firepit with supplied wood, kindling and Adirondack chairs, and outdoor table area. I highly recommend The Ledges and we will definitely return!

Although The Ledges is a lovely place (a pretty and well stocked cottage and very nautical outside setting) we were disapointed w/the noise level coming from the adjacent marina. The music was blaring until 1 am on both Friday and Saturday nights along w/people singing and yelling, on Saturday night, until the rain sent them inside. It was ridiculous at some points. We would have given a 5 if not for this reason.

Fabulous place on the River!

I've been going to the Thousand Islands for over 30 years. The scenery is beautiful and serene. I stayed at the Finch Cottage at the Ledges for Memorial Day weekend and it was truly amazing. The cottage is architecturally very unique and the interior was beautifully decorated and very clean. Everyday, firewood was delivered for the fire pit. The outdoor pool was very clean and, best of all, the view from the cottage was spectacular. Congratulations to the owners for making this a first class vacation destination.

Getaway at the Bay

This is a lovely cabin with a beautifully landscaped yard and close to the water. We had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the Boldt Castle and boat tour! Nice restaurants and shops just a couple of blocks away. Great location.

Beautiful Place

My stay at the Ledges was my favorite place in Alex Bay the staff were fantastic. Every detail is thought of no need to go anywhere! My stay included 3 of the cottages and all were comfortable and spotless. Will book again and make a regular stay every year!

Another great stay!

Everything was perfect from check-in to check-out. The Finch was very clean and we had everything we needed. The decor is perfect for the location. We love the opportunity to have an outside fire each night, and the fact that the wood is restocked. The location is fantastic…peaceful and picturesque.

The Ledges Resort & Marina started with my grandparents Nicholas J Schaefer and his wife Amy. They purchased the property in 1961 and made it their home. In 1963 they built a motel and named it The Ledges. They also opened a German restaurant on the property named The Old World Inn. They closed the restaurant 1982, but continued with the motel. In later years the motel was managed by my parents, Jerome and Deborah Schaefer. They expanded into the marina and cottage rental business. In 2013 after 50 years in business we made a decision as a family to close the business and tear down the motel.

In 2014 my wife and I purchased the property from my parents. We remodeled the old buildings and built brand new cottages from the ground up. We re-opened to guests in the spring of 2015. I was named after my grandfather, Nicholas, and it just so happens that my wife’s name is Amy. So, once again Nick & Amy are your hosts at the Ledges!
