Dora's Lakeside 1940's Fish Camp Cottage
We renovated our lakeside vintage cottage with comfort and privacy in mind. The Cottage is detached from the main home with a enclosed private patio great for keeping your bikes or gear secured or to hang your wet bathing suit after a day at the beautiful Mineral Springs. It is a bird watchers paradise! The many colorful species will serenade you every morning while you have your coffee taking in the show at the bird feeders and the bird bath. Our half acre property has tropical fruit trees, a veg garden, beautiful native florals, butterflies and comedic squirrels. Get away from the big city rat race and relax "Old Florida" style.
THE SPACE....
Our guests ALWAYS compliment us on how CLEAN our cottage is. We take pride in our home and love to share our high standards with others. Many of our guests also rave about the COMFORT of our heated queen size bed in the bedroom with blackout curtains that will ensure a great nights sleep, and about the surprisingly super comfortable queen size sofa bed in the living room. Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with everything you will need to prepare a delicious meal. We have an outdoor seating area under a shade tree with a partial view of the lake, where you can relax and enjoy the Florida weather. On those chilly winter nights (chilly by Florida standards...lol), we like to occasionally build a bon fire and get to know our guests if they choose to join us. We have all the latest technology; Fast reliable WIFI and an ethernet connection for those who are traveling remote workers. We live in an extremely safe neighborhood. We have safe parking, and security cameras throughout the exterior of the property for your safety. Our property is located one house behind Lake Dora's shore. Enjoy beautiful sunsets and the natural beauty of lake life.
GUEST ACCESS...
This is a half acre lot so outside the door there is a lot of green space. There are chairs to sit in and enjoy the sun and nature or just have morning coffee. One of the seating areas at the main entrance has a partial view of the lake across the street on Lakeshore Drive. There is a pool on the property but it is not available for guest use. It requires renovations to be compliant for guest use. It is for our private use only.
There are private boat docks all along Lake Dora that belong to our neighbors. We kindly ask our guests not to use them. We are thankful that our neighbors are supportive of us sharing our home with our guests, so we are very mindful of not intruding on their privacy or their private property. Guests are welcome to walk or bike ride along the lake on the public road. There are public spots for lake access that we will happy to share with you when you book.
SEASONAL COMFORTS...
We are diligent with pest control and for those pesky months we have mosquito lanterns and upon request, we can burn mosquito repellent coils for you while you're sitting outside. For winter we add a heated fitted mattress pad with dual controls on the bed and make sure you have extra bedding, in addition to remote control heaters. We have also installed thermal blackout curtains in the bedroom to keep your warm or extra cool during those hot summer nights. The AC's in the cottage also have a Dry settings to combat the Lakeside humidity especially during our wet season.
We have thought of everything for you! As lifetime Floridians we know the drill so you don't need to.
PARKING AND PROXIMITY TO DOWNTOWN MOUNT DORA...
No worries we provide free parking. Don't want to bother with the hassle of finding downtown parking? Take a 5 minute Uber ride downtown and enjoy seeing Mount Dora on a Segway or maybe a scenic boat tour. Or, how about a Seaplane Tour? It's all within 5 to 10 minutes away. If you're a bike riding enthusiast downtown is a 1 mile bike ride away.

It is TINY... but very nice. Super clean. Close to the lake and the town. Mt Dora is amazing and so very fun. Check in and communication was fantastic!!

The location is very quiet. It’s not very big but it has everything you need. There is no TV in the living-room. It’s in the bedroom. Had to bring a chair from the porch which was not too comfortable. The owners are very nice and responsive.

We take very thorough photos of our listing to be sure all expectations are clear. We will take it into consideration. If you had asked for a better chair we would have happily supplied it. Guest house was perfect. Beautiful setting. Thoughtful touches. Bed was extremely comfortable! Very convenient to downtown Mount Dora. Neighborhood is one of the most beautiful in the city. Lake across the street (no direct guest access). Makes for a beautiful view driving in to your place.

Beautiful cottage
The cottage had everything you need for a cozy stay. Very peaceful, quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed the outdoor space under the shade tree. Would highly recommend!

PEACEFUL
Peaceful location. A short walk to the lake after brung greeted by the birds in the morning was a great to start our day. The cootage was clean and the host wss pleasant.

The property has a great yard to sit out in. Right around the corner is a view of the lake. You're a very short drive to downtown, and there are lots of places to go in all directions. We'll be back again!

Clean / Cozy / Perfect
CLEAN & quiet cottage on lovely property. Cottage had everything that you could think of and it all worked! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only thing we missed was lake access for fishing and kayaking but that was just 10 minutes away in the beautiful town Mount Dora.

Dora was a great host. The unit is centrally located very close to Mt. Dora. There are 2 window ac units with fans that cooled it well. We loved the well appointed kitchen. The toliet is very small/tight quarters. There is no lake access and no places to walk safely. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Quiet, Clean and Private Getaway
There was a bit of mix up at our arrival but our hosts were quick to fix it and make our stay enjoyable. The place is small but big enough for two friends with everything we could need. It is a modern, clean, quiet and a private location with outdoor areas we could use to sit back and enjoy the birds and breeze. They are within a few minutes drive to historic Mt. Dora. We could enjoy the town and then get away and relax.
We will return in the future. Thanks!

We love reading, the arts, and travel. We are Floridians for over 35 years but spent 5 years in Philadelphia, where we were also Airbnb hosts. I'm am also a Florida real estate agent. We take pride in our home, and love to share our high standards with our Guests. Bernardo is "Mr. Fix It", and loves puttering around the property. We love hosting, as well as traveling. We are very experienced on both sides of the Short Term Vacation Rental experience by being Guests and as Hosts. It gives us great perspective to provide great stays in Mount Dora, Florida.
